What was the last retro-item you bought?
Here's mine:

For the nice price of $5.
Also picked up:
Championship Rally (NES) - cart. only, $1
Mach Rider (NES) - complete, $1
MrRae - April 29, 2004 03:20 PM (GMT)
Would the Zelda Disc that came with my gamecube count? That has the first and second Zelda on it :P

I've been buying a lot of saturn stuff recently, now that I've got some working controllers. I've picked up Street Fighter Alpha 1&2, King of Fighters 95 (I'm a 2D fighting fan :D) and a 3D controller with a spare copy of NiGHTS. I'm also considering buying Mystaria as it intrigues me.
I was *given* a NES with 2 controls, a light gun and ten boxed games on easter weekend. That was pretty cool. Especially since two of the games were Shadow Warriors and Bubble Bobble, two of my all time favourite games. The light gun games were pretty good too, despite still lacking duck hunt :(
I'm also looking at buying an x-arcade stick, those things are awesome.

...and expensive. You obviously take your gaming seriously. Good stuff. Id get two solo x-arcades rather than the twin stick version. More room.
Ive bought a number of retro items of late. Last thing (though barely retro imo) was the mighty Dreamcast (US NTSC). Came mint and boxed (see picture) with an extra controller, VMU, VGA box, and 5 games (CrazyTaxi, Virtua Tennis, RE3, Trickstyle=shit and Space Channel 5. What would yo expectto pay for al this? $3000, $300, $12??? No. It was $120 AUD after shipping :D
Very good deal imo (Ive been looking at local eBay DC prices and they are shocking).

Also bought a bunch of N64 carts. See the N64 thread for the list.
Nice NES Chris. Nice bedspread as well. Very retro :D

Top thread, my latest purchase was 'Mike Tyson's Punch-Out!!' (boxed with instructions) for the NES, ah the memories. I still struggle with Mike, the man packs a serious punch.

I bought myself a new Sega Master System II about a year back now and I've loved it ever since. Got about ten or more games for it now, thanks to the wonderful eBay, many of which I played to death (and still do now) in my youth.
My latest purchase was an obscure game by the name of
Penguin Land for the SMSII, involving the collection and protecting of valuable eggs by digging through an icy maze of polar bears, hawks, all sorts of insane crushing traps and whatnot. It even has a level editor and battery back-up!
Sybatical - April 30, 2004 07:32 AM (GMT)
BrotherEstapol - April 30, 2004 12:25 PM (GMT)
Tetrisphere $27 [N64] (PAL, boxed with manual)
Zelda: A Link to the Past $15 [SNES] (US version, just the cart)
Conker's Bad Fur Day $37.50 [N64] (PAL, boxed with manual)
Starfox $15 [SNES] (US version, just the cart)
:)

Wonderboy III and now this? I truly admire your taste man... why arent we good friends? :P
I used to own penguin land but it was stolen from my grandparents house when I was 10. Curse those Northam misanthropes, they took my Danan the Jungle Fighter too- both were mint with manuals <_<
Crap- yeah, I like to think I take my gaming pretty seriously. I love 2D fighters and am of the belief that they really need to be played with a true arcade setup. Top idea with getting two single sticks- being further away from 2p means I can free my arms for a distracting punch on the arm ^_^ I also like how the controller has adaptors for most current consoles, and after communicating with the x-arcade's site staff they see no reason why current controller to old console adaptor plugs shouldnt work, hopefully I'll be able to play my saturn fighters with them.
Finally, yes- they are a hit to the hip pocket, which is wh I dont have them yet. once I pay off my entertainment unit, dads birthday present, my pc case and my xbox I'll look closely at one :D
...should only take a month, hooray for two jobs! *rubs his tired legs... standing for nearly twelve hours wangs*

I bought a Hanimex for $1.50 :D

My last purchase would have been my Saturn with NiGHTS... I've got a few other games, but they were like bundled with my others. This is my 3rd Saturn I've bought, thanks to the NSW postal service...

I would like to buy a DC and possibly a N64. What are the maximum prices I should pay and can I have a list of must have games for the DC?
Pretty please?

Dreamcasts you can pay anywhere between $50 and $200 for. If you just want an unboxed, used PAL DC you won't be looking at paying too much. If you want to go a bit more, and get a boxed one, you'd be looking at about $100. If you want some special edition import model, the prices go even higher ($200+).
Well, everyone has differing tastes in games, but I'll list the DC games I consider most worthwhile:
Sega Rally 2
Soul Calibur
Sega GT
San Francisco Rush 2049
Tokyo Highway Challenge
Sonic Adventure
Power Stone
Power Stone 2
Metropolis Street Racer
Daytona USA 2001
Virtua Fighter 3tb
Dead or Alive 2
Tokyo Highway Challenge 2
Marvel vs. Capcom
Chu Chu Rocket
The House of the Dead 2
Bangai-O
Marvel vs. Capcom 2
Sega Bass Fishing
Shenmue
Shenmue II
Guilty Gear X*
Capcom vs. SNK*
*import only
Games in bold font are absolute must-haves. If you have a DC, you HAVE to own these games.
Chrisł - May 10, 2004 03:50 PM (GMT)
I guess I'll post some of my recent aquisitions:
Gradius (NES) - cart. only, $4.95
F-Zero (SNES) - cart. only, $1.00
Tribaldemon - May 10, 2004 04:50 PM (GMT)
I picked up six master system games on ebay, these being:
Alex Kidd in Shinobi World
Cloud Master
Dragon Crystal
Sonic the Hedgehog 2
Wonder Boy in Monster Land
Wonder Boy in Monster World
All boxed with instructions, in top shape. I'm stoked that I managed to get a complete Dragon Crystal, my baby was stolen from my grandparents house when I was a wee fella. Ive tried to track it down for over a year, and saw complete copies going for as high as $25. I got this one for $6.40 ^_^

Nice list, Chris. I'll also add:
Street Fighter 3: Third Strike
Bangai-O
Ikaruga
Tech Romancer
Powerstone 1 & 2
Sonic Adventure
Samba De Amigo
Some quality games you really need.
quartz_donkey - May 14, 2004 08:06 AM (GMT)
Tetrisphere 18 bucks yay for me.
Buffoon - May 15, 2004 11:34 AM (GMT)
Today I got a copy of Suikoden II for PSOne from EB for a rather inflated and embarassing price. But hey, it's a very slightly obscure Japanese RPG... which I like.
Last retro hardware I got was a Saturn. That was... many months ago. Nine or ten, I guess. How time flies.
dave_cool31 - May 18, 2004 03:34 AM (GMT)
Well, I haven't purchased any retro games lately but I still have my good old NES, complete with a few games, namely Rally Championship and the original Excitebike, although I don't (and never did) have a box for it. I also have a SNES but the cord to my only controller for it got mauled by the dog I used to have :( oh well.
I also have Tetrisphere complete with box and instructions, although I haven't played it for ages. I got a couple of Classic E-cards too, but I don't know if that counts, and I got the latest Harvest Moon games, GBA and GCN, but they're not retro, but they have both been discontinued, so yay!
The ghost who walks - May 19, 2004 08:32 AM (GMT)
WHAT, Harvest Moon for GCN and GBA are discontinued!?
Chrisł - May 21, 2004 05:32 AM (GMT)
Today:
Ranger X (Mega Drive) - cart. only, $4.95Has anyone else played this game? I picked it up under the premise it was a side-scrolling shooter. I was thankfully correct.
It's an excellent, and somewhat unique little shooter with great graphics and music. I think I'll get back to it now. ^_^
Managed to find a pic too:

Depending on who got the distribution rights here locally, I'm really not surprised. Small population withstanding (compared to larger gaming nations such as the US anyway), games outside of mainstream scope are usually discontinued within a month or two of release here. The only reason Harvest Moon is being pointed out is because it's popular and it probably sold like hot cakes off the bat.
Shame really... still haven't gotten my copies yet... <_<
BrotherEstapol - May 21, 2004 09:30 AM (GMT)
They haven't been discountinued, you just have to order them in, that's all.
Sybatical - May 21, 2004 09:55 AM (GMT)
1080 and Goldeneye for $17 on Ebay. :)
Also, HarvestMoon N64 for $20!!!! :D
Robert - September 8, 2007 05:19 PM (GMT)
Rock 'N Roll Racing SNES 24 bucks yay for me:D
Ninja Catfish - September 10, 2007 12:34 PM (GMT)
Scccccoooooore!
Nice purchase.
My last retro console I got for the beautiful price of a grandmother who didn't know what it was :)
