Title: Story of Computer Games
Description: A Discovery Channel Special
borgster101 - December 21, 2004 11:23 PM (GMT)
I managed to watch to this program last night on the Discovery Channel, it was a 1 hour show highlighting the history of the videogame industry, from its roots with Atari, from the legal issues with the creation of Pong, the establishment of Activision, to the fall of the home console and finally ending with the rise of Nintendo with the Donkey Kong Arcade and the NES. It was indeed a very interesting show, I found out some stuff I never knew before, like the founders of Codemasters being kids aged 12 and 13 who developed their own games :o .
I was going to put this in the TV Section, but given the whole retro feeling of the show I thought of posting the thread here, anyways did anyone else manage to check this out?

I watched it, Interesting about the kids that made there own games and the explaination of how Shiggy thought up zelda and that Mario woulden't have had a hat except for the graphics at the time didn't allow for Shiggy do to what he wanted with Marios hair (or Jumpman at the time)

Ditto. Does anyone know if it's replaying any time soon?

I've got a feeling that it's actually a repeat, as a friend of mine with Foxtel was telling me that he had seen a history of video games doco twice.
So if it's the same one, there's a good chance it could repeat again. :)

Any news of a repeat anytime soon?

I've only seen it once thus far, I also noticed there was a Inside Microsoft's Xbox Special the following day, I managed to catch that as well, it was ok but not as good as the history show.
I'll keep my eyes open for a repeat.

This is months, months old. :P
It was on Discovery sometime in May. I loved it, and taped it.

Its kinda weird we're all getting excited about these sorts of programs when in Korea, there are cable channels dedicated to games only! I wish I lived there! :(

Well in that case for those who missed it, maybe they'll be able to catch in a few months time.
