I didn't see a thread for the game so I'm starting one.

Nice scans from famitsu. ^_^

Is anyone else as excited as me about this game?
I've said it before and I'll say it again, Intelligent Systems are pure genious. :)

Cerebral - December 21, 2004 01:16 AM (GMT)
I'm sold. Fire Emblem on the GBA was absolute gold, and I can't possibly pass up another Intelligent Systems offering.

Hope it gets a western translation quick-smart.

Advance Wars: Under Fire Q3
Fire Emblem: Trail of the Flame Q3

Theres a rough idea of when it's coming out. ^_^

Shadow Knight - December 21, 2004 10:07 PM (GMT)
Yeah, this game is a must for me. I loved the GBA version.
Here's hoping future Fire Emblem games get English translations.

Manny M - December 21, 2004 11:18 PM (GMT)
Ditto. Fire Emblem was the best game to hit the GBA, and I can't wait for this version. Glad they didn't change the gameplay elements which made it so darn good *glares at Advance Wars*

borgster101 - December 21, 2004 11:36 PM (GMT)
I'm sure that now after the GBA release of Fire Emblem, the series will continue to see an English release :) .

With the ending of the GBA version (which SSBM fans would have got a kick out of), I wonder where the story will go with the GCN version, is the GCN version set after the events of the GBA version?

Gio - December 23, 2004 04:49 AM (GMT)
There's already a sequel to the gba one in japan I beleive, and they're making another fire emblem for GBA on top of that...

Anyway, I'm really looking forward to trail of the flame, you gotta dig the character art. ^_^

3 Nice new screenies..
I really can't wait for this. :)

Manny M - January 5, 2005 11:31 PM (GMT)
Nice. Are the characters on the battlefield cel shaded?

borgster101 - January 6, 2005 03:10 AM (GMT)
 Thanks for that Gio, it's coming along nicely and unlike Advance Wars UF, looks like it'll be true to its 2D roots :) .

Gio - January 7, 2005 05:19 AM (GMT)
No problem. ^_^
And I do think the characters on the battle ground are cel-shaded.

Gio - February 13, 2005 03:29 AM (GMT)
A new movie is up!
http://cube.ign.com/objects/001/001982.html

I'm really loving the cel-shaded/anime style, just like Tale of Symphonia's.

markymark - February 14, 2005 08:39 AM (GMT)
is there any idea of an aussie release date? it'll be mad fun playing fire emblem on a big screen :D

borgster101 - February 15, 2005 02:07 AM (GMT)
No word on a date as of yet, I imagine that we will see an almost complete version at E3 and therefore it's likely to hit the shelves in say in Q3/Q4 2005.

Gio - February 15, 2005 06:33 AM (GMT)
I hope it comes out around August 20th. :P

borgster101 - February 15, 2005 09:54 AM (GMT)
Since August 20th is a Saturday, it wont be happening :P .

I'm assuming that's your birthday.

Gio - February 27, 2005 12:10 AM (GMT)
The day before my birthday :P

Anyway, somemore new screens:
http://www.cube-europe.com/screenshot.php?gid=fe&nr=1

They're actually a little dissapointing, maybe I'll have to see it in action but.. It seems a bit rushed. :/

borgster101 - February 27, 2005 01:56 AM (GMT)
Screens never do a game justice.

DJ-Civic - February 27, 2005 01:54 PM (GMT)
Wow, I can see all 100 polygons on those character models... What is this? The N64 days? C'mon developers, push the Cube a bit harder than that.

markymark - February 28, 2005 01:54 AM (GMT)
wow, yeah, that does look a little shonky... i a bit surprised by that.

UltraGekko - February 28, 2005 03:05 AM (GMT)
Yes the characters look a little low poly but they don't look bad by all means and remember they have to put a lot of characters on screen at the same time (of course if they were tricky enough they would get LOD working so that close up more polys are added to the characters).

Gio - February 28, 2005 10:28 AM (GMT)
The strange thing is that the graphics are great in other parts of the game..

DJ-Civic - February 28, 2005 01:13 PM (GMT)
In fairness, it's the game play that matters in the end, but it wouldn't hurt if it looked a tad better, you know? ;)

BrotherEstapol - February 28, 2005 01:21 PM (GMT)
Low-poly?
Not from what I'm looking at...I'd say the thing that's letting the grapics down are the bland textures, and lack of decent lighting. But he poly-count?
No way, those are some good solid high-poly meshes from what I can see.

borgster101 - February 28, 2005 10:36 PM (GMT)
Like I said, screens dont really do justice.

Didn't see the guy with the axe?
How his hand and the handle of the axe were stuck together? :P

Cerebral - March 3, 2005 01:40 PM (GMT)
You usually need to hold the axe in order to use it. :P

I think the graphics are fine. Intelligent systems are not world renowned for their 3D prowess, so to get the visuals to a 'Suikoden' level is a fair effort. I wasn't expecting a blockbuster in graphics. In fact, the game looks fine to me - the texturing on the horse is awesome. Compared to older screens which showedcased choppy cel shaded figures, the move to full 3D has been made admirably. I'd say the let down is lighting. All the capes, etc are monotone colours.

And the sprites in the GBA game weren't world-class detail either, but the amazing animation blew us all away all the same, didn't it?

As you can see, this is one of my most anticipated games. Wouldn't miss it for the world.

How can you tell from that screenshot that the Axe is actually attached to his hand?

By the looks of it, that axe is a seperate mesh, but the handle is a tad too large for that character's hand.

Infact, you would use-up more polys if you welded the axe to hand, so I find it highly unlikely that they are all the same model.

borgster101 - March 3, 2005 11:11 PM (GMT)
In anycase, Fire Emblem has been all about the fantastic gameplay.

Gio - March 4, 2005 08:31 AM (GMT)
Cerebral brings up a good point, about Intelligent Systems having better animation than poly count, etc.

But you have to admit, those pics are a bit of a step down from Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door.

I'll buy Fire Emblem anyway and no doubt I'll love it. :P

'Sif step down from Paper Mario.

The Paper Mario style was extremely simplistic compared to the texturing and polygonal detail in Fire emblem. Granted, the textures may have looked cleaner and crisper in PM, but we're dealing with a totally different design style here.

Right Click -Save Target as..
Wow. Just wow. Any doubts I had just flew out the window watching that.
It looks to be an epic game and one of the best to come out this year.

That Mage guy is cool. :P

Gio - August 10, 2005 11:15 AM (GMT)
When is it coming out? WHEN IS IT COMING OUT?! *SPLODES!*
Some time in September, right?

borgster101 - August 11, 2005 12:55 AM (GMT)
Still TBA at this stage Gio..

ultracrazy1 - August 11, 2005 04:11 AM (GMT)
Should be out mid October in the US, so we should get it before the holidays...

borgster101 - August 12, 2005 02:23 AM (GMT)
Yeah that would seem about right, lets hope so :)

borgster101 - September 9, 2005 01:56 AM (GMT)
Official Date!

- December 1st people! :D

ultracrazy1 - September 9, 2005 07:34 AM (GMT)
Should give me some time to finish a few more games. I really hope this sells well, firstly because its bound to be an awesome game (should average over 90% in reviews I'm sure) and also because Nintendo don't have many other killer apps this year :(

borgster101 - September 10, 2005 01:43 AM (GMT)
Yeah, I know I'm getting it :D

markymark - September 10, 2005 03:41 AM (GMT)
I doubt Fire Emblem will do that well over here. It's not everybody's cup of tea and it's so bloody hard. Regardless, I'll be first in list to get a copy.
