Title: Upload sigs?
Description: like avatars

MrRae - April 29, 2004 01:30 PM (GMT)
I've noticed a few peoples sigs have decided to stop working, most likely because they're linking from some random site, or they've run out of bandwidth on their webspace. So would it be possible to upload sigs like we can with avatars?

At this stage Invision doesn't provide this option which is a shame. The easiest thing to do is to store your images on a website such as Photobucket. It's free and easy to set up. :)

Yes, unfortunately it doesn't let you upload them. I think quite a few people were/are linking from Hyper, so their sigs aren't working now.

As Civ mentioned, the reason for the amount of dead pics at the moment is Hyper going down. A lot of people had their pics linked from there.

As Mach mentioned, Photobucket works a treat for this situation. You can upload your sigs there and then link them here for a more stable signature. I shouldn't think it'll go down after that.

I'm willing to host sig pics for anyone who needs it, provided the file isn't 20Mb or anything. I have unlimited bandwidth and outside access to my directory is forbidden, so random people can't browse my webspace and steal your stuff.

Contact me on MSN (trinityjayone@hotmail.com) and we'll arrange something. :)

Also doesn't Invision set an amount of how big your forums can be? Having both sigs and avatars uploaded to these forums would almost double it's size.

Every forum on the planet has some sort of space limit, not just Invision. :)

But yes, having to upload sig pics here would take up space that's probably better used for avatars for more members.

Yep. Invisionfree offer 16 MB of upload space for Avatars and file attachments. It doesn't have any restrictions on the amount of bandwidth you use, or how many posts you can have in your forum.

In my controls it shows my sig pic but it ain't working under my post :S

I am not linking from hyper either.

MrRae - May 1, 2004 05:07 AM (GMT)
How are you linking it? [url] tag or [img] tag?

Make sure that the source you're linking from allows remote linking. Even if they don't allow you to link, it will show up in the preview - just not in the post.

Try using Photobucket, it works a treat.

Additionally, the Geocities .txt trick doesn't work here, as the files have to be .jpg or .gif.

Curses! Foiled again!

That and Angelfire doesn't allow remote linking any more *sighs*
I may have to buy my own domain soon.

ImageShack -- a breeze to use and there's no regestration required so you can upload as many images as you like (as long as they're under 600KB each) :)

Cheers man! You're a hero! :D

I've now got a photobucket account, so if anyone wants their sig hosted, PM me. :)

Just wondering, should Evolution be promoting hotlinking from Hyper?

TrinityJayOne - June 25, 2004 03:03 AM (GMT)
It's irrelevant now as Hyper no longer has sig pics. Unless members what a red X as their sig pic, they would've already found another place to host them.

Pauly - June 25, 2004 06:55 AM (GMT)
Imageshack is probably the best bet. No fuss registering.

There seems to be so much rivalry between here and Hyper, can't we all just get a bong?

We do, but Trin keeps stealing it. <_<
