Title: NES Classics
Description: Back to the future...

Just wondering if anyone is going to, or already has gotten any of the newly (re)released classic NES series games on GBA? I saw them today at Kmart for $26 and was tempted to get Donkey Kong, but is it worth paying that much for what is basically a NES game being emulated on my GBA?
Mind you, playing these classics would be fun... :)

If you have money to burn can't see why not. :P

Personally I wouldn't touch them with a twenty foot pole.

Here's hoping to Get ExciteBike :P

Ooh yeah, Excitebike on the NES would be cool. Did you know, you can trip your opponents by hitting their front tyre with your rear tyre? Coolness. 8)

I would, seeing I grew up with an Atari 2600.

I'm not to interested, but I wouldnt mind getting Zelda since I have never played the NES original and it's not bad for 30 bucks I suppose.

I took your advice, DC and got DK. :P I was surprised to see the game get optimised for the GBA screen. It's not boxed around the edges. :)
Also, the game features the DKC theme song in the title screen, but with the NES beeps and boops.

I ended up getting Mario and Pac man for $20ea the other day.

I quickly returned Pacman, it was crap you would keep playing the same stage over and over again the ghost would just get faster i found that boring after i did the same stage 10 times in a row.

Mario is well Mario and is sitting under the Christmas tree waiting to be played again, I had a quick go before it was wrapped up. I would of like to see a save feature implemented, surely this slight change from the orignal wouldn't of hurt.

All in all I think they are good value, if and only if you haven't played them before and you do not have them already, other wise your better of putting the money towards a newer game. cause the novalty wears off quick.

My brother actually got Zelda, I'd never played the orignal NES Zelda, and from what I saw it's pretty cool, there is a lot of missing stuff from the newer Zelda games, like towns and story for example, but it's pretty cool to play the orignal.

Borgster101... Your avatar looks really familiar. Hm.

Anyway I got the NES classic of Zelda way back in August (I got it in Europe but It's in English) and haven't enjoyed it very much. not very much at all. It's just too... well, old. The map is boring and the temples can get extremely hard.

DJ-Civic - January 13, 2005 12:17 PM (GMT)
Of course the game is old. :P
I was thinking of getting Zelda too, but decided not too as The Minish Cap will be much better.
I still fire up DK now and then though.

Yeah it does feel 'old' (it is a NES classic) and it is certainly more difficult than more recent Zelda games, since you essentially are given no clues at all!! :o But with the help of a game guide for the really tricky places one is able to get through the game. It's also nice to play through the game that started the Zelda craze, and it still remains quite good for an 18 year old game.

Oh and the familar avatar?? Well I've used it for a long time, even back on Hyper (as bill_goldberg) I changed my name when I came on Evo, but kept the same Avatar so people would know it was me, everyone has adjusted to the new name now so I guess I could change my avatar, but I havent been bothered enough really.

I'm interested in picking up Zelda, but $30 still seems a little too pricey for me. Guess I'll wait for a % off sale...

What other titles would you guys like to see in this line anyway? I hear of a Castlevania coming... :)
