Title: Get a PSP today!
Description: Well sort of. You any good with solder?

ElPresidente - November 23, 2004 09:54 PM (GMT)
That's right, you can have your own portable Playstation 2 today, that is if you are somewhat psychotic, have money to burn and aren't afraid of getting under the hood of your console.

Pretty impressive work I have to say, read all about it here.

That's crazy! :S

*moves to handheld forum*

Woah! That's...awesome!! Sheer genius!! :D

Manny M - November 24, 2004 12:07 AM (GMT)
Nutter, complete nutter!

Quite a feat, but doesn't look too comfy.

Comrade Natrak - November 24, 2004 12:48 AM (GMT)
Wow...and I thought the actual PSP was a little big. :P

That's absolutely crazy. Yet very cool.

auhsor - November 24, 2004 01:39 AM (GMT)
That is amazing... Check out his other portables on his site including the NES, SNES, PSOne, Atari...

borgster101 - November 24, 2004 10:12 AM (GMT)
 since the PSP will have a lot of PS2 ports, this is essentially the same thing.

Pauly - November 24, 2004 12:50 PM (GMT)
haha that's hilarious. I wonder how big a portable Xbox would be o_0

Manny M - November 24, 2004 09:14 PM (GMT)
:P

I wonder if he'd mod a dumptruck to it, just to make it "portable".

Actually, Sony are trying to avoid developers merely porting PS2 games to the PSP. ;)

Is that why GT4 is one of their flagship games for the system thus far? :P

Comrade Natrak - November 25, 2004 04:21 AM (GMT)
Yeah, they're not exactly leading by example are they?

However they are still trying to avoid a mass amount of ported games.

[DZ] - November 25, 2004 05:52 AM (GMT)
That looks so heavy.

Heh, in addition to GT4 being a flagship game it's very likely that the PSP will see a lot of PS2 ports, hell the GBA got a lot of SNES ports and that worked well and the DS even has tne N64 Mario, so I dont see why developers wouldnt hesitate to port over their PS2 games to the portable.

Manny M - November 29, 2004 10:59 PM (GMT)
Like i've said before, if they bring FF ports to the PSP, i'm friggen there!!

borgster101 - November 30, 2004 10:09 PM (GMT)
Would the battery be able to last through an extensive FMV cutscene? :P

Manny M - December 1, 2004 01:33 AM (GMT)
Quiet you!

You're my new god.

NismoR34 - December 1, 2004 02:42 PM (GMT)
In all seriousness though, Borgster you bring up a good point...

Manny M - December 1, 2004 08:46 PM (GMT)
No, he doesn't. It's clearly an exaggeration.

Pauly - December 2, 2004 12:28 AM (GMT)
No seriously, think about it. Say you play your PSP for an hour or two, then decide to watch a movie on it. The battery wouldn't even last the whole movie. That's bloody annoying if you ask me, especially seeing as you're spending so much money on the thing. Like I've said before, it's a pity, because it truly is an awesome machine.

hehe, whilst I was just teasing, it was indeed based on my thoughts of the battery life, especially for games like FF where such FMV would drain out the life of the battery, it is certainly something that would need to be addressed.

Manny M - December 2, 2004 09:47 PM (GMT)
FF FMVs don't go for that long.

Plus, it's still not confirmed about the battery time, is it?

It is a concern, but as soon as I hear they are porting the FF series to it, i'm running to the stores, cash in hand.

borgster101 - December 5, 2004 03:15 AM (GMT)
But say your were playing the game for 2 hours or something and then trigged an FMV scene, which would probably require more power it could be a concern.

Or what about games like MGS, with some cutscenes lasting over 20 mins!!!

Anyways, I was just teasing in the end, but like I said it is a concern, of course it's all speculation until Sony actually announce an official battery life.

No offense dude, but that would be a seriously stupid thing to do, especially considering you can now by a PS2 for around $230-240 and get both PSone and PS2 Final Fantasy games at budget prices.

Comrade Natrak - December 5, 2004 06:44 AM (GMT)
Not necessarily stupid. Expensive, yes. Stupid. Depends. If Manny's after a portable then it's not a stupid thing to do, besides, from what I've heard, Manny's making a good amount of money...the bastard. :P

Borgster does indeed raise a good point, although I don't think the FMVs will necessarily strain as much on the battery as a regular movie would. Besides such a thing could be circumvented with a quick auto-save before every FMV.

Anyway, I don't see what the big hub-bub is over the PSP's battery life. It's an inconveniance, but with the availability of extra batteries it's not as though once your battery's dead you have to wait hours for it to recharge. Considering just how much the PSP is capable of the battery life seems reasonable to me.

Lazlow - December 16, 2004 05:30 PM (GMT)
(back on topic)

While oversized, heavy, and uncomfortable, you gotta hand to the guy trying it and suceeding.

And it would be really cool to freak people out with it.

Manny M - December 17, 2004 02:21 AM (GMT)
Woah! Totally forgot about this thread.

Ok, in response to DCs post: It's not stupid at all. It's a portable... you hear me! A portable! Money has nothing to do with it, as i've stated too many times to keep count. Money is not what's stopping me getting a PS2, it's time at home to play the games, but if I had a portable PS.. whoo boy, the fun i'd have when stuck at my sisters house.

Money is just the means to an end, my end being playing some sweet games whenever I get the chance. Yeah boy!!

~DC - December 17, 2004 05:12 AM (GMT)
Well why don't you get a portable television and PSTwo and take that to your sisters? Can't complain about portability there.

Check. Mate. :P
