You gotta love the melee opening theme :dance3:

BrotherEstapol - October 17, 2004 10:53 AM (GMT)
Donkey Kong Country Theme!!!!

Awesome!!! :P

OldSkOoL - October 17, 2004 01:39 PM (GMT)
*Fires up the Bongo drums*

That'd go so well with the Theme.

Donkey Kong Country Theme!!!!

Awesome!!! :P

It's actually the music from the Jungle Hijinxs level (you also hear it on the Jungle Japes level in Smash Bros) and not the title screen music. I wasn't sure what defines the theme song. But yeah it's perfect for the bongos!

Manny M - October 17, 2004 10:04 PM (GMT)
Screw all that, i'm excited about those Jamiroquai songs.

Shadow Knight - October 17, 2004 10:16 PM (GMT)
Wooooo, DK Rap. :P
I'll be picking this one up early next year.
Thankye UltraGekko.

borgster101 - October 17, 2004 11:53 PM (GMT)
I guess the difference in the song list is based on the differing markets of Europe, Japan and the US. Obviously there would be no change to suit the Australian market, like a Guy Sebastian song or something :tomato: , hence we can claim the European list as ours ;) .

StompBrother - October 18, 2004 04:50 AM (GMT)
Wow, the US tracklist REALLY sucks. The PAL release is so much better. Although the Jap tracks are better than both. Nothing can beat the Pikmin commercial song and Masque Nada.

By the way I heard that these aren't the original recordings, rather redone and sung by nobodies.

Turkish March and Hungarian Dance are fun to bongo to. But you can't go pass the 4player Donkey Konga Theme. Soooo fun.

Pauly - October 18, 2004 05:56 AM (GMT)
Cool. Some pure quality tracks there. This could actually turn out to be one hell of a game.

Manny M - October 24, 2004 10:10 PM (GMT)
So, DK comes out this thursday, no?

Manny M - October 25, 2004 04:21 AM (GMT)
I'll take that as a yes.... <_<

So, who's buying it?

~DC - October 25, 2004 07:45 AM (GMT)
Seems like a decent party game so I'll be picking it up sometime with a couple of DK drums.

Manny M - October 25, 2004 10:13 PM (GMT)
You do know that you'll need to order them from Nintendo directly.

I'm sure they'll be available online soon.

borgster101 - October 26, 2004 05:19 AM (GMT)
Yeah a bit crappy that you need to order the drums directly, considring its a multiplayer game, but at least they're availble.

How are they each?

Manny M - October 26, 2004 06:12 AM (GMT)
They're fairly robust and solid, from what I hear...

:P

BrotherEstapol - October 26, 2004 10:25 AM (GMT)
LOL

But the game comes with 1 set though doesn't it? :S

StompBrother - October 26, 2004 12:35 PM (GMT)
Yes it does fellow brother.

I'm upset Mas Que Nada isn't in the PAL version. :(

-Stompy

borgster101 - October 27, 2004 02:25 AM (GMT)
I believe additional drums are $49.95 each.

~DC - October 27, 2004 08:08 AM (GMT)
That's not too bad. Looks like I'll be picking up the game and a set of drums (maybe two) for Christmas.

Manny M - October 28, 2004 05:44 AM (GMT)
*looks at Konga box in his hands*

*laughs maniacally*

Manny M - October 28, 2004 09:00 AM (GMT)
So I was playing Donkey Konga. I started off with a really slow song, and it was just boring, then I upped the ante, and it got pretty damn fun. Then my dad came home.. wondered what all the racket was, came upstairs, laughed.... it all went downhill from there

~DC - October 28, 2004 12:27 PM (GMT)
For some weird reason I thought that Donkey Konga came with no drums to begin with and you had to add them directly and seperately.

I saw the awesome box today and was tempted to get it right there and then. But then I remember GTA, Paper Mario 2, Pikim 2, etc... :(

Manny M - October 28, 2004 09:47 PM (GMT)
*slaps*

Just buy it! BUY IT ALL!!!!!!

I was so close to buying a PS2 and San Andreas yesterday while at EB, but I thought that was pretty foolish...... then I heard Prez had done the same, but paid about $600. :P

What?!?!!? :nooo:

That's just crazy, CRAZY!!!!! ?!? :P

I was in the same sitaution as you DC, tempted to purchase Donkey Konga because it is insane fun, but remembered in a few weeks about the avalanche of other games

ElPresidente - October 29, 2004 05:50 AM (GMT)
Couldn't help myself. :P

I ended up getting one of the slim line PS2s, a copy of San Andreas, Final Fantasy X two memory cards, two sets of component/s-video cables (one for the Xbox and the other works for both GCN and PS2) and I put down a preorder on the LE of Half-Life 2.

Aaaaaaaand... I may go get Donky Konga on the way home tonight.

The PAL list rocks... 99 Red Balloons, Tub Thumpin, Don't Stop Me Now, all great songs.

Well I guess it's cool that you have all 3 consoles :) .

Looks like the christmas buying is starting to kick in and my guess is that's it's only the beginning.

~DC - October 29, 2004 09:40 AM (GMT)
Why did you purchase two memory cards ElPrez? I have 20+ game files already stored on mine and it still isn't full.

Can anyone comment on how effective the bongo drums are? Do they respond to all taps or do you have to bang on certain places?

Gio - October 29, 2004 09:55 AM (GMT)
I really, really want this game.

Really.

UltraGekko - October 29, 2004 10:27 AM (GMT)
This game rocks. It's a bummer you need 4 sets of bongos for multiplayer. I can't really imagine playing it with the controller.

Did anyone else notice the classic arcade Donkey Kong music. And I just found out you can change the drum noises to the arcade sound effects.

Manny M - October 29, 2004 03:01 PM (GMT)
Yeah you can, but it detracts from the song, and you end up really screwing up. You can also change the bongo sounds to a whole range of different sounds.

I just finished having a 3-4 hour Konga session with my mates, great fun.. and we didn't even try the multiplayer aspect! Needless to say, I can't feel my fingers.

borgster101 - October 30, 2004 04:02 AM (GMT)
DC, I have played the game and the drums are very responsive, you dont have to bang them at all, hell you dont even have to clap, but I would clap anyway simply because it was a natural reaction. It is a quality product :) .

Manny M - October 30, 2004 04:58 AM (GMT)
You actually clap?

In gorilla difficulty, there's no way you can clap and bang on the drums in quick concession.

I just smack the crap outta the side of it.

borgster101 - October 31, 2004 01:50 AM (GMT)
Well I dont own the game, so I havent played such an intense difficulty, but yeah I have heard that its essentially impossible to clap on those extermely hard beat requirments.

Gio - October 31, 2004 03:31 AM (GMT)
:( you are listing my broken dreams.

I mean, you're making my wait for donkey konga harder. :P

Manny M - October 31, 2004 09:05 PM (GMT)
I think i'm going to have permanent finger damage by the end of the month.

borgster101 - November 1, 2004 12:43 AM (GMT)
And then Nintendo will release a special ape Donkey Kong glove to use the bongos, like with the Mario Party N64 games glove ;) .

St@ckboy - November 7, 2004 06:48 AM (GMT)
Apparently Kmart have donkey konga on sale for $75. Now there is no reason to buy, great price!!
