Title: Could this be the worst day of my life?
Description: ebay among other things

/backslash - September 25, 2004 12:47 PM (GMT)
I just came back home today from Perth after having otoplasty (ear surgery) (costing $1300) and I feel like crap as I have a cast around my head that had to stay on there for 8 days (I'm halfway through). On the first day I felt like I was going to die as the anesthetic was having side effects such as nausea and dead cells in my left and right hand (they looked as though it had black bruises) and then they finally let me out of the hospital so I could go home and rest. The cast is undeniably tight leaving little room for my neck support so it makes it hard to turn around as well as hearing problems, unable to reach itchy areas, not being able to go outside in public for obvious reasons and not being able to turn on my side whilst sleeping.

Anyway, I was sorting through my mail today and noticed that a $304.50 bill from the Water Corporation asking me to pay for their service on my vacant block of land which has nothing on it, there's not even a water connection yet I'm paying a $300 bill for it! On top of that, I received a $50 Medicare bill and a $180 broadband internet bill. Then I also noticed that my imported ebay games haven't been received yet. They were supposably sent last week and so I replied to the seller's email who stated that on the 14th September, my items were sent out on the 14th/15th. The games at hand were Star Ocean: Till The End of time & Front Mission 4, for $130. I looked at the guy's feedback rate which was at 10+ positive with only 1 negative feedback (but the person who gave the negative apologised as he received a refund as he didn't get his item) so I thought I'd be able to trust this seller. I had paid for my iitems via paypal.

When I looked at his feedback list today however....see here he had 22 negative feedbacks between the periods of 19th&20 September! Now I am worried, he is no longer a registered user anymore either and about a month before this happened I was ripped off by another seller (who had a feedback of 96% from 2000 people) who has not once responded to my emails since I had sent my $40 for 2 Megatokyo graphic novels

On top of all this I'm not getting paid for my sick leave from work either as it's "optional surgery". I have 120 hours sick leave but I cannot use it, and now I'm being hit with bill after bill, struggling to keep up with payments

I know this should probably go in the bitch thread but I think this has enough of a warrant for it's own thread

Manny M - September 25, 2004 01:07 PM (GMT)
I was going to say that this should be going in the bitch thread, but i'll leave that up to Syt to decide ;)

Did you get your ears reduced? I want to get otoplasty done, as i have buddha type earlobes, and I hate them :P

I don't trust ebay, and I don't think I ever will. It's these incidents that make me primarily buy from online stores, regardless of cost.

Anyways, hope your life picks up :P

Ghosty - September 25, 2004 01:33 PM (GMT)
Holy fucking shit, man. Call me stupid, but I'm out of the loop. Exactly what happened to your ears?

It's funny, I mean. It's been a good day for me. In fact, an excellent day. And here you are having one of the worst of your life. Is there anything I can do to help? Donate money?

What goes around comes around man - and if you aren't being punished for something, then you'll soon be rewarded ;)

1. Nothing exactly "happened" (well, before the surgery anyway). On occasions back in school, I got teased because my ears stick out and and besides that it's been a subconscious thing of mine, I decided to get them sewn back so they wouldn't stick out as much (see link provided on first post). I won't be able to see the result from the surgery until this Thursday

2. Yes, as long as it's not via paypal :P That's an event which has totally stuffed up my ebay experience

And I hope my luck does turn around where I'll get something in reward. I might win lotto, I might even get a gf after all this surgery. I suppose I should be glad I don't have a car since I'd have even more payments

well at least the process wouldn't be as bad as mine <_<

DJ-Civic - September 25, 2004 01:56 PM (GMT)
Woah, that's seriously fudged up dude. Sorry to hear it.
I do hope your ears get better soon as I'm sure wearing a cast around your head can't be good.
I also hope you never use eBay again. I stay away from such a shitty place.

_MetalliX_ - September 25, 2004 02:16 PM (GMT)
I never really trust online stores. I have come to accept that 99% of people ore just assholes who want to screw you over.

Sounds like you have had a rough few days... hope your feeling better soon man.

Lazlow - September 25, 2004 03:00 PM (GMT)
I've possibly had the worst week of my life, so let us drown our sorrows together.

Hope life picks up man.

I also use Ebay, and have had no dramas so far. And you did everything you could to make sure that he was reliable, hell he even has an Ebay store. Unfortunately he must have wanted out, and decided to screw a few people over before doing so.

KickyFunkFresh - September 25, 2004 09:13 PM (GMT)
I don't have enough confidence in Ebay yet to bid generous amounts of money for items. I only get NES games from Ebay and most I've gotten for between $1 and $4. The most I spent was on my mint condition NES with Zapper gun and Mario/Duck Hunt cart for $41.

I sometimes get in a rut and find myself with lots of bills hanging over my head and little money to pay them, but weeks later when they've long been payed for I always wonder why I got so worked up about it.

:mariodance1: :mariodance2: :luigidance1: :luigidance2:

Allow Mario and Luigi to help dance those worries away :)

Man, you're suffering... :| I hope those ears of yours get better soon. Hey, post pics on this thread when you feel better. I wanna see the difference the otoplasty made. Or you could draw yourself. BTW, that would make a great comic; /backy getting otoplasty and getting ripped off on eBay. :P

Get well soonage.

markymark - September 26, 2004 03:43 AM (GMT)
damn man, nastiness. bummer to hear about your novels/games... if they don't turn up i might be able to organise something. i know people who know people if you know what i mean. you can choose between gangland or execution style.

get better soon man.

Film Guru - September 26, 2004 03:45 AM (GMT)
Damn, talk about messed up! That's just painful...

I also never trust online stores, unless it's that of a major store chain. As for the cast, damn. Whilst it's not the same, I can relate to it cause I had a backbrace for 4 years. Stuff like that that covers up itchy spots and restricts moviement is a really bitch. Sorry to hear it. :(

Those bills and loss of money sound horrible. I'd send you some money to help, but as of right now I'm a little low on cash myself.

I sure hope this dark cloud passes really soon mate.

To get your mind off all of this, you might wanna read this. Did you know that: If you become dehydrated your body will take excess fluid from the bowel making your stools firmer, harder and more difficult to pass. :o

Or, this article could help. Ah, the internet, is there anything it can't do? :)

How much does the bandage cover up your head? You know what I'd be doing? Wrapping my entire body in toilet paper, as well as any part of my head that is visible, then walking into a shopping centre or something saying "braaaaaaaaaiiiiiiiinssss". Tell me that wouldn't be hilarious! :P

Little kid: "Excuse me Mr. Mummy, but why do you have little pictures of little duckies on your bandages?"

it covers up about 75% i'd say. pickle can't see my forehead, the bandage ends right above (or in the middle) of my eyebrows and only my cheeks and a small patch on my head are visible. everything else is bandaged including the back of my neck. i could get ready for halloween if i wanted to but it's a little early :P

hopefully my games will turn up in the mail, fingers crossed
and thanks for the support guys

Play more games. Back when I fell off my bike and had to stay at home for a week, I played Mr. Mosquito. That game rocks! :D Play Burnout 3 if you have it.

Hello - September 26, 2004 10:07 PM (GMT)
Go be a bag-lady for a week, and see how really shit a day can be.

Lazlow - September 27, 2004 04:33 AM (GMT)
pickle

Edit: Just as I thought, if you type a solitary capital "EWE" (can't type the actual letter) it comes out as "pickle".

Why?

I typed "NFS:EWE" and Got NFS:pickle
