On behalf of the other founders of this forum, I'd like to welcome you to the Evolution Forums. Evolution is a place where you can come to discuss video gaming, movies, television, pretty much anything you want to talk about as long as it's cosure with the rules.

Why Evolution? Aside from the fact that we were struggling for names that fit what we wanted discussed, it pays a slight homage to a forum Machiavelli, DJ-Civic and myself were members of (and moderated) a while back. Simply put, we wanted to post on a forum for gamers/entertainment junkies that was actually focused on the topics and not who had the most forum power. A forum for posters by posters if you will.

POST COUNT REFUND - IMPORTANT FOR NEW MEMBERS

Any member from Hyperactive, Virtually Created or Palgn that wants to become a member here is allowed to start with their old post count. We are aware that the aforementioned forums aren't on the most stable grounds and know how annoying it can be to lose a large post count through no fault of your own. As post counts are often a distinction of experience, we understand that you might like to keep yours upon starting here. These three forums were chosen simply because we are familiar with them and they are in the same area of the interweb to us (hence their members are interested in what is posted here). All we ask is that you prove your post count via a link to one of the Admins.

BANNING MEMBERS

The worst case scenario for someone who just won't stop swimming against the current is a ban (of varying degree). This is a community for people all ages/sexes/races so please take that into consideration when posting.

Breaking the following rules will get a mark against your name. The severity of of the infringement will determine how serious a mark.

You agree that you will not use this forum to perform the following actions:

Flaming (Insulting Other Users)

Posts clearly insulting other board members, individually or as a group, directly or indirectly, are not allowed. This includes, but is not limited to:

• Name-calling ("You're an idiot", "You moron")
• Direct insults ("Screw you")
• Using vulgar, profane, or sexually explicit language as a means of insult
• Using sexual preference terms as a term of insult in any way, shape, or form
• Using race, religion, sexual orientation, culture, ethnicity, handicap, nationality, or gender as a means of insult
• Offensive orders ("Go kill yourself")
• Insinuations ("Are you stupid or something?") or insults towards family ("Your mom...")
• Using threatening, harassing, defamatory, hate-speech, or libelous language
• Trolling (Inciting Flames)

Posts intended solely to annoy and/or offend other posters by going against the clear nature of a board or topic are not allowed. This includes, but is not limited to:

• Provoking other users to respond with flames
• Provoking fans of a particular system or game, especially on boards dedicated to that system or game
• Making misleading topic titles
• Asking obviously useless questions
• Posting false information as fact

Messages and topics may be removed at any time and for any reason at the sole discretion of Evolution and its designated moderators. User accounts may be warned, suspended, or revoked at any time and for any reason at the sole discretion of Evolution and its designated moderators. All determinations of what is "acceptable" and "unacceptable" content will be determined solely by Evolution and whoever it designates as moderators. You agree that the decision of the moderators and administrators is final, and you may not legally contest their rulings.

Intentional, repeated, or severe violations are cause for the banning of your account, all use of the forums from your IP address or your entire ISP.

Finally, if you're pissed, have a problem, ect, you have to be tactful, ect when you voice your complaints. Trolling and pitching a temper tantrum resolves nothing and will not be tolerated.

1 - No posting pictures of a pornographic nature or links to pornographic sites. Remember, this is a forum for those who are not yet legally old enough to view such material and we don't want to have any part in breaking the law.

2 - This forum uses filtering software to filter out swearwords from posts. If a swear word is "bleeped" out of your post you should probably take the hint and stop trying to use it. We do allow use of some 'lesser' swear words, but try to keep those in moderation too.

3 - No posting information from any pay site. It doesn't matter how relevant it is to a discussion, posting articles/pictures/whatever that is only reserved for paying customers and is not allowed on these forums. We strongly agree with most 'net goers that the Internet should be a free source of information, but as long as subscription sites exist, we will have to play by the rules.

4 - It's YOUR responsibility to make sure others don't have access to your password for these forums. If you use a public computer, or share a PC with family members, it's strongly suggested you make sure you LOG OUT when you're finished. I'm sure you understand that we can't take responsibility for a mistake you may have made.

5 - Don't post a thread to advertise/promote your Website. Two reasons for this:

- Lots of forum users have sites and if everyone posted theirs it would result in a lot of threads that get flamed or completely ignored.

- Evolution isn't set up to be a listing (there are plenty of those already).

We do, however, offer a fair alternative. You can enter your forums URL in to your profile page (click 'My Controls' at the top of the page) and this will mean that a clickable button is added to the bottom of every post you make. We also allow you to enter your site into your signature. This is ample advertisement for your site as you'll end up placing your site link hundreds of times throughout these forums over time.

6 - Don't use racist, gender-bias or homophobic language.

7 - Don't post anything with the sole purpose of annoying other forum members.

8 - Don't repeat any "offence" listed above once you have been warned by a Moderator or Administrator. This includes reposting locked threads.

9 - Try to keep your signatures down to 5 lines of standard text or 3 lines of text with an image.

Sig images should be no larger than 460 pixels wide by 60 pixels high and no larger than 30kb. This is similar to Hyper's setup and works well. As of this time, if you want a sig image, you have to host it yourself and remote link. We'll try to host your sig pics in the near future.

Alternatively, if you're a Hyper member, you can link to your hosted sig as some members have already done. Right click on your signature over at Hyper, select Properties, copy the URL, paste it into your signature here and surround it with the [IMG] tags.

10 - Avatars can be no larger than 80x80 pixels. Although it is possible to upload an avatar that is up to 1Mb in size, we ask that you keep them no larger than 20kb (Hyper's size limit is 8kb). Space is always limited and we want to allow a lot of people the chance to have an avatar.
