Title: Animation Programs
Description: I need some help!

Ghost Boy - August 4, 2004 08:36 AM (GMT)
I'm looking to make a couple of little animated logos and was wondering what the best programs for such a task are?

It'd be great if I could find out both 2D & 3D programs just to cover anything I might end up doing.

Those with experience speak up!

Can't go past Adobe Photoshop and Imageready for that. Photoshop handles design and all the artsy stuff, Imageready will make animated .gif files and whatnot. You could also try Macromedia Fireworks, but I find the Photoshop/Imageready combo much better.

Animation Shop Is Alright, Also Try Imageready. There are some free progs where you make the frames beforehand, and then save them, but I haven't got any links...

Paintshop Pro is what I use, and it comes with Animation Shop, which is excellent for making Animated GIFs.

But for 3d animations and modelling, I use 3D Studio Max 6.

You can get trials for both programs at these links:

PSP/AS:

3dsMAX:

Thanks guys, though I suspect there are a lot more that people know about.

C'mon now, speak up!

I use a mix of Photoshop and Animation shop (although my trial period for that has run out :( ). For 3d I use 3d Studio Max.

I wasn't aware that you could make animated gifs in Imageready. I'll have to check it out later.

Another fine 2D animation program is Flash. (Duh. :P )

A few more 3d ones are:

Maya
Lightwave
Cinema 4D
Milkshape

I'm more of a Flash man myself.

If you're trying to do a quick animation, i would advise you get animation shop. You won't want to use it much for actual graphics editing, but otherwise its pretty good.

That's why it comes with Painshop Pro.
