I would prefer the phpbb style ones, as they are usually the same height as the text.


If you want you can steal some of the ones I made for Hyperactive, unless Civic has some already made and he's just waiting to use them. ;) (I'm sure he's got something planned. :P)

Alot are great, but I think if we do introduce new ones they should keep in the theme of the current, by that I mean size, colour, gradient, style etc.

And yes, the wink emoticon does look a tad retarded, I have had to refrain from using it because it looks a bit strange and doesn't really convey the emotion I want it to.

I actually quite like the existing ones, they're different. :P Although I couldn't really care less if they're changed.

I wouldn't mind the current ones used at Hyper. However that may just be because I have grown fond of them.

Can we have some sort of Pirate one? With an eye-patch or something? :)

I agree with MetalliX - we should try and come up with some new ones/fix the current retarded ones while maintaining the style. They are different from Hyper, but that's not a bad thing in my opinion.

Any talented graphic people want to volunteer or should we just get Civ to do it? :P

Those emoticons are weird to work with compared to the Hyper ones, but there you go. They are also rush jobs (or Beta versions if you will) so yeah, not my best work.

Use them if you wish. :)


BTW, I had a go at making a decent winking emoticon, but I could get it looking good. :wacko:

Whatever set of funky emoticons we choose to use, I stress for them to all feel 'similar', as in they feel like they are all made by the same person. Otherwise it feels...well...tacky.

I vote we only have two emoticons: the sheep and turtle from MSN.

They are the only two I ever use on MSN...

Anyway, I agree with what others have said. They should all look similar and have the same feel to them.

Sorry for the time it's taken me to get around to doing this - it's been a rather busy couple of weeks. Thanks to BrotherEstapol, Manny M, _MetalliX_ (I think) & DJ-Civic for providing the new emoticons. If you did supply some and I didn't mention you, speak up now or forever bite your tongue. :)

We got a stack of them in the end, but a lot were just Hyper emoticons and I don't see much point in just copying Hyper. After all, this is Evolution. A few of the uploaded ones aren't quite there yet (white backgrounds etc.), but I figure it's better to have them in their current state than not at all.

If someone has some time on their hands and wants to scrub the new smilies up a bit, please do so and then email them to me for uploading.

We ended up with a bit of a mixed bag, as no one wanted to create a whole new bunch of Invision styled emoticons. Feel free to make new emoticons at anytime and stick them in this thread for uploading though - we're always open to more emoticons!

The reason for Mr Ass' exclusion was due to his size. He was almost as big as the console flag emoticons and it was just a giant yellow ass. Seeing as how you've got a smaller one in your post, I can stick him up right now.
