Description: Then come in for all your cleaning needs

Keep getting pop-ups?

Internet Homepage keep getting replaced?

Got that stupid annoying search bar stuck in your browser?

Then this is the page for you!!! :D

http://aumha.org/a/quickfix.htm

That method will get rid of nearly any kind of Adware or Spyware out there at the moment.

I had Spyware S&D and Ad-ware installed, and I couln't get rid of a particular peice of ware, and after I did that method, everything was fixed! ^_^

Another alternative is to change browsers to something like Opera, Mozilla, Firefox or Netscape.

Happy hunting! :D

...are you selling something? <_<

My system is sqeaky clean, so I think I'll be passing on that site.

BrotherEstapol - July 22, 2004 10:24 AM (GMT)
LOL!
It's sounds like it doesn't it? :P

Nah, I just found that the page(and the forum I had to go to) really helpful.

Especially since I had one fo those stupid "replace-your-homepage-with-a-search-engine-every-5-mins" on my PC for about a week, and I had tried scanning with Spybot S&D and Ad-ware about a million times, with no results. :(

But that page helped me get rid of it!! :D

_MetalliX_ - July 22, 2004 10:40 AM (GMT)
...psst, stop looking at pron sites! :P

I did a major clean-up the other day, performing a deep-scan with AdAware, but thats just precautionary, I got no problems.

BrotherEstapol - July 22, 2004 10:46 AM (GMT)
It's not porn, it's getting fixes for my network games so that my friends can play against me on the PC up stairs. ;)

The porn could have done it as well. <_<

The best solution to not getting spyware, not getting hijacked and not getting viruses is to use Firefox or Opera.

I haven't had spyware/adware or any of that other crap ever since I started using Firefox. Prevention is better than cure.

Umm, no they are aren't.

Mozilla is a websuite, with different coders to Firefox, even though they are from the same company.

Was it also neccessary to bring up this topic just to say that?

I have BitDefender for about six months. I have had almost no problems to report until today. I found a similar worm on my computer along with a trojan and another virus. The trojan and the other virus were moved sucessfully to my recycling bin but the worm, Win32.Worm.Agent.PYD, could not be quarantined or moved and I am getting a similar windows alert to run a spyware program. Also when I try to open my control panel I am getting a message saying the operation was cancelled and that I should contact the system administrator. I have already sent a log file to tech support via my email address. Please help me to resolve this problem.

Feck.

I've got a serious problem with a trojan. No, not pr0n. :P I tried to download a crack for SimCity 3000 (I lost the serial number about 5 yeas ago, got very bored the other day and decided to give it a blast) off of some dodgy Russian site and paid the price.

It started off fairly innocent, but now the thing is seriously pissing me off. It occasionally tries to send e-mails to like 50 different accounts all at once (crashing my computer), and now it's posing as Windows Live and popping-up whenever I connect to the Net telling me how I'm terribly infected with spyware, and then linking me to some site, and then asking me to download an anti-virus program which is blatantly another trojan.

Because I've got dial-up, I can't update my virus bank. What's equally as frustrating is that I know where the fucking thing is, but because Norton is so out of date (as well as Spybot, Ad-Aware, KB, AVG :P) nothing can be done. I've managed to delete a few of its auxillary files, but the main thing refuses to be deleted.

Anyone got any ideas? :(

Got the name of the thing?

And surely you can update your virus definitions or something.
Or even download a free scanner like Avast, not absolutely huge.

thebigm - November 6, 2007 02:06 PM (GMT)
Boot up in safe mode then try running a virus scan.

Nah, the folders are all randomly named! :( I have Avast, but the virus bank is out of date. Haha, man, try downloading something on 31.2kbps, especially with the damn thing cutting out on my damned downloads every 5 minutes. :P

bigM
Are you talking about entering the BIOS in safe-mode at start-up? Or just starting in safe-mode and scanning with an anti-virus program?

Boot up Windows in safe mode, this usually prevents any of the trojans from booting up, meaning they can't affect an antivirus scan.

Aha! Thank you sensei, I shall try that and post the results! :D
