Title: Silent Hill 4: The Room

Silent Hill 4: The Room is shaping up to be the best game in the series, it's looking stunning! This is the last Silent Hill game on PS2, the next will be on PS3.

Here's the basic story:

Henry Townshend finds himself trapped in his apartment that has been cursed by a deeply rooted evil. Only by exploring mysterious portals leading to disturbing alternate worlds will Henry begin to uncover the truth. However, in true Silent Hill fashion, mysterious new characters, horrendous creatures, and the undead will use any means necessary to impede his progress. Silent Hill 4: The Room features a terrifying experience that fans and newcomers will never forget.

The game is being released for PS2, Xbox and PC.

As far as release dates go, it's the Japanese who get the game first this time; it's being released there June 17th. It seems the US, Europe and Australia will be getting the game around Spetember 8th. Maybe before for us PAL'ers (as early as July), maybe later...there have been sooo many release dates for this game.

Now then, time for some video goodness, it's a big'un but this has to be the ultimate non-spoiler trailer ever.

No trailer trash here: Full 9 minute E3 trailer

While waiting for the glory that will be Silent Hill 4, why not indulge in some Silent Hill-ish movies? Here are some that I recommend:

Lost Highway
Mulholland Dr.
Session 9
Ju-on 1 and 2
Jacob's Ladder
Dark Water

If you really like the psychological stuff that makes you think, the J-Horror scene is bursting with awesome stuff, Ju-on, the Ring and Dark Water are fine examples of the genre. I also recommend Battle Royale, Versus and Uzumaki. If you want more Resident Evil stuff then I recommend watching some Italian horror, anything by Lucio Fulci and Dario Argento will be right up your alley.

"The Room"? What a crappy title.

Wow, great post there KC. A little bit of research would have revealed that title to be fitting and a very exciting take on a survival horror.

Anyway...

The trailer looked great and being a horror fan, that looked truly horrendous and disturbing. It will be very interesting how Konami can pull off this "one main room" dynamic into the gameplay and keep it fresh and exciting all the way through.
