Title: C64- If only the cartridge port were bigger
Description: coz if it was I may have f*cked it.

seriously.. how good was the C64.

we got one when I was only a little denno, and the first game I ever played on it we had to type the program codes in ourself. At one point I think we would have had well over 200 games.

My favs.. Spy vs Spy, who dares wins, comando, international karate, phantasie, rambo first blood, green beret, the great escape, cauldron, wizball, lazarian, tooth invaders, spy hunter, impossible mission, ace.. and I could keep going..

anyways.. anyone here have/had one?

TrinityJayOne - May 25, 2004 01:31 PM (GMT)
Spyhunter!!! What an awesome game that was! I remember my friend's older brother being a legend at it, we used to watch him play. :D Was Impossible Mission the game with the evil guy who says "stay a while......STAAAAY FOREVER!!!" at the start?

Potty Pigeon was my fav and Wizard Warriors was another. Then there was fire trap, pitfall. It’s a pitty it died on me and cost way to much to fix and because I was young I didn’t look after the games so some of them broke.

bloody oath it was... and you had to jump over robots an' shit. I dont know if it was possible to complete the game, coz i played it for yonks and never managed to make any progress.. nonetheless it was damn fun.

It shits me when people complain about loading tiumes today, when some games on the C64 took around 10 minutes to load (namely americas cup on tape)..

Yeah, didn't the game just keep running in loops?

I never owned one, but knew people who did. Classic gaming.

Bwahahaha!

Yeah, I was but a wee child when I had a go on a C64. My older brother had one and played it a lot so I didn't get near it too often.

My favourite game was Rambo First Blood. I was hooked on the movie and watched it too much to be healthy and found the game to be rather addictive too.

Damn. This thread brings back some memories, especially those screenshots. :) Airborne ranger was one of my all time favourites, I spent hours and hours on that gem.

Oh there's heaps more. Im having trouble remembering which games were on the Amiga 500 and which were C64.

Anyone play 'Dan Dare'? We also got a really poor versions of Bubble Bobble and Bionic Commando. Robocop was a pretty cool game. Love the baby food power-up

Mmm... C64 emulation time me thinks

I sadly missed out on the C64 era. I came in during the NES rein. Man I wish I got to play the C64... :(

I thought they overlapped a bit? Well when I had my C64 I was playing Super Mario Bros 3 at my firends house, granted he was Japanese.

Did you have an Amiga? Now that's when I went game crazy. (someone start an Amiga thread quick!! ;) )

Just remembered another cool C64 game....

Film Guru - May 27, 2004 02:29 AM (GMT)
Cut it out dudes. We're trying to talk about the C64. :P

Fyuusii - May 27, 2004 08:46 AM (GMT)
Yeah, that's quite about enough, Denno. The joke's old and lost any wit it had.

I never owned a Commodore 64, but apparently one of my elder brothers did and he bragged about it no-end. Pity really as I never actually got to see it.

I had a Vectrex instead! :D

unlike you huh? Yeah you're just on e big sack full of wit aint ya?

You're as dry as a nuns twat on sunday mate.... like anyone that doesnt have a pole up their ass gives a shit about a bad yo mamma joke.

PS... you are the only person under the age of 70 that has told me 'thats quite about enough'.. you are under 70 aint ya (and I dont mean in IQ).

Edit : hey that was really rude.. even by my standards..

just so as to not piss anyone else off I thought of another game that I wasted hours on as a kid.

skool daze. anyone ever played this.. It was shitloads of fun.. basically you were this kid at school and you had a slingshot, and you had to hit teachers and sit down before they saw you. I dont know if there was any other point to the game, but when your 8 years old you dont really care.

Cool

So. Who had a floppy drive for their C64? Or were most of you cassette only?

The Commodore 64 was released in the very early 1980's ('81 maybe?) and was produced throughout the 1980's.

It's one of the most successfully and long lasting computer technologies in existence.

I never had a C64 (I was born in 1985), and I by the time I started gaming (1989) we had a 286PC.

However, the C64 is my kind of computer. The core unit is an excellent all-in-1 device. It uses cartridges! AND it plugs into a TV no problems!!! Brilliant! Why can't they make computers like that anymore?

Here's a mini tribute to my all time favourite game on the C64. The slightly dodgy port of Ghost N' Goblins

Dodgy Boxart and loading screen

The game was damn tough.

I'm very tempted to import the NES port for teh GBA-sp, though I really want a portable Arcade version :(

Ah the C64. Who else misses those psychedelic loading screens with all those amazing colours and flashes!!

Did anyone else have Dragon's Lair for the C64. What a great idea. Lets make a laser disc arcade game into a C64 tape title where you have to fast FWD and rewind to play the different segments
