Has Will Smith or Tom Hanks ever played a bad guy? Also, if anyone can think of any notable actors who have never played that role please list them.

I think the character Tom Hanks played in Road to Perdition should be considered a "bad guy", though maybe not in the sense of him being a real villain. Also, wasn't Hanks an antagonist in Catch Me If You Can? The antagonist isn't necessarily a villain, but it's another gray area, isn't it?
Oh, and to answer the question, I nominate Matt Damon. Bourne is a very shady character (at least in his past), but he's still the good guy throughout the trilogy, and he makes good guy choices. Also, how about Harrison Ford?

Matt Damon = Talented Mr. Ripley
Harrison Ford = What Lies Beneath

Ok I got a few more. :D Not 100% sure on his early TV work, but on film, Robert Redford. I never saw much of Sean Connery's work before Dr. No, but I can't remember him being a villain. John Wayne?

He was kind of a villain in Boiler Room.

Don't forget Dogma, also another movie with Damon as Villain.
