Title: Your top three most anticipated games of all time?

Drake - March 6, 2008 01:33 PM (GMT)
1) Super Smash Bros. Brawl (seriously) - sequel to my all time favorite game
2) Super Mario 64 - Had never seen anything like it at the time
3) Final Fantasy VII - Even upscaled, I'm amazed at how well it looks today. Everything but the character models look great.

Share yours. :)

Secret of Mana (Snes) - Didn't disappoint. Had to buy a US converter thingy and pay $120 for the game itself but it was worth every cent!

Grand Theft Auto III (PS2) - nothing could prepare me for the most massively detailed free-to-do-whatever city I've ever witnessed!

Final Fantasy VII (Psone/PC) - Never played a single RPG until then and boy did I get surprised!

Of course Brawl for right now.
They've just hyped it up so much, and it looks to have delivered :)

Metroid Prime was a game I really looked forward to, after playing Metroid Fusion I wanted to see how the 3D transition would work.

And lastly, I guess Twilight Princess's original trailers just made me want the game desperately.

Do you mean games we were most psyched for?
Games that exceeded our expectations the most?

-Ocarina of Time. I waited, it was delayed, I waited some more and it was delayed yet again. When I did finally play it, it fulfilled everyhting I ever wanted and more.
-Final Fantasy Tactics Advance. I'd read so much on the original, the fact that this got a PAL release was brilliant and while it did have some flaws, it was still a brilliant game.
- Final Fantasy IX. A return to the Fantasy in their name, and the best of the PSX FFs IMO.

Currently anticipating

-Disgaea 3 (PS3) it's DIsgaea, goes without saying.
-Monster Hunter Tri (Wii) love the series, and knowing Capcom, they'll do a good job of making this work well on Wii
-SSBB. Should be in my hands within a week! Hopefully the freeloader arrives on time!

Qubert - March 7, 2008 07:30 AM (GMT)
1) Super Smash Bros. Brawl
2) Resident Evil 2
3) Pokemon D/P

DZ - March 9, 2008 02:34 AM (GMT)
Past:

1. GTA: SA
2. MGS2
3. CTR

Now:

1. GTA IV
2. MGS4
3. The next adventure platformer from Naughty Dog

Hmmm, I haven't changed much... :P

Random Hero - March 10, 2008 03:29 PM (GMT)
-Mario 64 (epic)
-Super Smash Bros Brawl (looks like it will be epic)
-Metal Gear Solid 2 (and it was a huge disappointment for me)

NismoR34 - March 18, 2008 06:52 PM (GMT)
Shadow of the Colossus
BioShock
Metroid Prime 2: Echoes

In the lead up to each of these game's releases, absolutely nothing else was relevant. Sure I wanted other games as well but if I only could have these ones, I wouldn't have cared. BioShock is perhaps the best example since it is the most recent. I wanted that game more than I wanted a million dollars and no, I'm not bullshitting when I say that.

My most anticipated at the moment would have to be Grand Theft Auto IV, Alone in the Dark and Alan Wake.

Mario 64 - and it didn't disappoint

GTA3 - an awesome game in it's own right, but it somehow seemed disjointed to me. But I think that has more to do with my lofty and unattainable expectations - which will be the cause of my gaming malaise later in life. Sucks to be me.

Metal Gear Solid 2 - and i was a little disappointed. But I wasn't alone, i don't think

It's weird I didn't really anticipate GTA III as it was more of a surprise. I don't remember any hyper or build up?

THEN:

Super Smash Bros Melee
Twilight Princess

NOW:
Super Smash Bros. Brawl
Metal Gear Solid 4

InsaneGamer - June 21, 2008 06:36 PM (GMT)
1. Spore
2. GTA4
3. SSBB

1. Halo 2

Believing the hype and being so anxious and having my own bloated expectations about this I was doomed to be disappointed with the way the story and single player turned out. I appreciate the story now and I enjoyed playing it on live, but yeah, I was too crazy about this game, I learnt not to anticipate video game releases too much after this.

2. Battlefield 2

Even after Halo 2 I was very excited about playing this game because I knew it still followed the traditional Battlefield multiplayer formula that I had only experienced at LAN cafes, I had played the demo, and I had worked hard to buy computer capable of playing this game, and it didn't disappoint. Though I stopped playing it regularly almost 2 years ago, it still stands as my most played game on xfire.

3. This one is really difficult.

I can easily think about and rank the first two in terms of how much I waited and thought about playing those games, but I can't easily distinguish a third. Brawl is up there I guess. I can't think of any other titles I bought immediately on launch that I was giddy with excitement about. It hasn't been since BF2 that I was truly excited about a game release. Having thought and typed about it though, it has got to be Brawl.

1. Mass Effect

After playing KoTOR I knew Bioware were capable of delivering the goods and Mass Effect just looked so damn amazing in all of the previews. It had it's flaws but it didn't disappoint me thankfully.

2. Metroid Prime

Ahh, back in the day this was one of the very few games I was anticipating for the Gamecube. Again, all the previews looked spectacular and I loved Super Metroid so it couldn't possibly go wrong and it didn't.

3. Perfect Dark

Considering Goldeneye consumed so much of my childhood it's no wonder I wanted this more than anything. Then after the 97% review in Hyper the anticipation hit boiling point. Luckily I got the money together to purchase it soon enough.
