Title: Poll of the Week 24

I have definitely been moved a few times, but never to the point of crying. Unless crying with laughter is counted... It's not! :P
Certain moments in games such as Shenmue, Chrono Cross, Planescape: Torment, Final Fantasy, Ico, Shadow of the Colossus etc. But it had that emotional effect on me only once. When I finished a game subsequently, I was far more detached from it.

I went for Not Quite, never been moved to tears, though movies don't do that to me either, but I have certainly been moved/held back thew tears for various videogames.
One of which was DREAMFALL THE LONGEST JOURNEY. If you aren't moved by this game YOU HAVE NO SOUL! :P

I voted for 'Not quite'.
Aerith's death in FF7 & Squall+Rinoa's scene on the Ragnarok in FF8 were the ones that truly moved me, Xenosaga & Dreamfall had a certain effect too but I'd hardly call that crying although it was an emotional scene

I don't remember which 1, but I have certainly been moved by a game.

Oh THAT'S the 1!!! Oh wait, no it's not! I only know this as I've never actually played a Tiger Woods game before :cheese:

Bar the obvious choices, Earthbound, just prior, through and after the final battle.
Definately the most emotional I'd ever felt in a game.
Yes, even more than Aeris/Aerith's death.

I have gotten emotional over saving the little sisters and I am glad. I have been playing video games since the NES days and I have never gotten that emotional during a game. Bioshock has done what I thought was not possible in a video game. I feel so sad for the NPC's in this game that at one stage I had to take a couple of brakes in this game just to compose myself. I must say this game has earned its review scores.

...I've cried like a little girl during some games.
...namely when I tried 'Raining Blood' on Expert in Guitar Hero 3...
But seriously, here's a few that brought a tear (or more) to my eye.
Indigo Prophecy (Fahrenheit to all you guys)
Final Fantasy VII - during Aeris' death
Final Fantasy X - Okay, seriously, if you didn't cry at the ending, or the scene where Tidus and Yuna are in the water, screw you all to hell. However annoying Tidus was...
EVERY SILENT HILL GAME EXCEPT 'THE ROOM'
Prey
Jade Empire
Shadow of the Colossus made me cry harder than any other game. SERIOUSLY.
I'm going to stop before I shame myself further.

Raining Blood is a bastard of a song to play!
Awesome though!

I've cried. I'll admit it. :)
The two games responsible for this reprehensible act are Planescape: Torment and Dreamfall: The Longest Journey.

I'm sorry but only women cry :P
I did once. When I accidentally overwrote my hundred-and-fifty-hour Final Fantasy X file... Oh man, that sucked.

Nah, I've almost cried in frustration before (can't even remember what game it was, but I remember it was shit) but I've never been 'moved' before.
I've gotten a bit teary in movies before though, like when the big ant died in Honey I Shrunk the Kids (shutup I was probably like 8 years old)
Decman - January 15, 2008 09:19 PM (GMT)
Angra, you cried over Prey?! I only cried playing that game because of its thorough mediocrity. :P
Nah, I've never cried, but that's not to say I've never been moved. Playing Mass Effect has done that for me. Being in control of the fate of your own team-mates, making mistakes and then regretting them not just functionally, but emotionally...well, that's something. Fahrenheit's done the same as well. Halo 3 did move me with its ending...the climax of the whole series is most certainly where it came from; that epic, complete feeling.
I have to say, BioShock didn't affect me in the ways it seems to have affected others. The Little Sister harvest/rescue option was poorly implemented in my opinion. For me, it was just a matter of pressing a button.
Ninja Catfish - January 16, 2008 10:39 AM (GMT)
Grave of the Fireflies is to this day, the single most emotionally affecting piece of media I have ever seen.

Yes I have absolutely cried during certain moments in gaming and no, I don't give a shit what anyone else thinks about that.
Shadow of the Colossus was probably the most impactful game, I'd say. Obviously there is that one particular scene that really threw me for a six emotionally, but there was also the ending of the game too where I felt the opposite emotion of that scene because of what was being shown.
I also had a hard time taking down the first Colossus. Why? Because I have a 'thing' for beasts like that and yeah, to see it falling down the way it did was quite hard to take. Knowing I had to do it another 13 times or whatever it was is/was a daunting feeling too.
Final Fantasy VIII made me cry a little bit too. As did some other games.

I cried at the end of Mario 64 when Mario gets that cake. Lucky bastard! I want cake! :P
No games don't really move me, like a film might, but if something strikes me I'll just say "that's pretty cool/nice".
