Title: Poll of the Week 23

For me I can't go past the Dreamcast. One of the best launch lineups in video game history. Mostly original IPs, rather than sequels. Sure there where a few arcade ports, but they were still ports of original games and almost uniformly excellent ones. It genuinely innovated and delivered brilliant games routinely without making a big fuss. And even though it did eventually "fail", its newfound post-death popularity is really fantastic to see. :dreamcast:

Dreamcast - most definitely.
Hell, there's still a lot of homebrew support for it today :)
On top of that, a lot of the functionality it incorporated is only really being explored by other console makers now. I can't help but feel that the Dreamcast really taking off would have resulted in us being even further ahead in 2007/2008.

Yeah Dreamcast, it's the only one of those consoles listed that I have actually owned!
Actually played through Shenmue and Shenmue 2 again not that long ago ... sucks so much that there isn't and probably will never be a third game!! :(

Actually I've never played any of those, strange as it may be. The Panasonic 3DO was $700 at the time but I really wanted to play Samurai Showdown and the other consoles didn't appeal to me (probably because they were doomed)

I'd put the Sega Saturn in the same box as Dreamcast. It was a spectacular failure.
But failing that, the 32X. I remember playing a Star Wars game on it.

You mean Star Wars Arcade? I remember that, a good port of an arcade classic.

Dreamcast easily.
Okay fine, I have never played any of the others and only know about them due to reading about them on forums or whatever, but even so I imagine my choice would still be the Dreamcast. I mean, it's the Dreamcast for fuck's sake. That is all that needs to be said.
What annoys me is that literally 2 or 3 (I think it was 2) days before I was going to buy my own Dreamcast, the very sad news of the console's demise came about. Being young and stupid (although thinking I was making a smart choice), I decided to pass on the console and keep the money for some other games and stuff instead but now years on and in hindsight, I really regret that decision. I would love to own a Dreamcast and who knows, maybe I might still get around to getting one some day. But yeah, Dreamcast > the rest of those consoles.

I spent more time with the 3DO than any others so it gets my vote!
