Title: Super Mario Galaxy
Robert - November 8, 2007 01:25 PM (GMT)
IGN Review - 9.7
http://wii.ign.com/articles/833/833298p1.htmlGreat review, but a little long. I don't see how he can dock it for difficulty when the game is designed to be accessible to a lot of people that haven't necessarily played games before, and he admits that the challenge gets considerably tougher in the latter half of the game's stars. A little weird, if you ask me.
I was pretty worried as to whether this would turn out to be as awesome as 64, or just another Sunshine.
****in Super Soaker... :P
Drake - November 9, 2007 01:26 AM (GMT)
Wow, now that's a score!
SMB tune on Tesla Coils. I know this isn't about Galaxy, but it's still Mario.
http://www.i-am-bored.com/bored_link.cfm?link_id=26042and sorry if this is old, I just saw this.
borgster101 - November 9, 2007 06:42 AM (GMT)
I just got Metroid Prime 3 and it's an amazing game!
But Galaxy is looking like it will top it! :o
Wow, great time to be a Wii owner, and if you dont have a Wii yet, looks like Galaxy is the system seller! Cannot wait! :D

Fixed. :P
As some of you may know, I'm not as much of a Mario fan as most Nintendo fanboys are. I've always preferred the latest Zelda and especially the latest Metroids over a new Mario game. I still have always enjoyed the various Mario games though, enough to get all 120 stars in Super Mario 64 and 114 in Super Mario Sunshine (through various rentals because I was too poor to own it back then).
Anyway all of that above is irrelevant. Why? Because after reading some reviews and more importantly, watching the game being played through various videos the game has jumped massively in my most anticipated list. Of course by the time I get to it you guys will all be over it, but either way I am now definitely looking forward to playing through Galaxy when I get the chance too. Like most Nintendo games I guess, it should provide an entertaining yet casual experience that can be challenging if and when I want it to be. :)
borgster101 - November 13, 2007 01:16 AM (GMT)
Yeah I tend to enjoy Zelda more than Mario as well, but at the same time Mario is really awesome too!
And especially Galaxy!! :D
DJ-Civic - November 14, 2007 08:51 AM (GMT)
I'm getting really hyped for this Mario game. Looks good both graphically and gameplay wise. Plus it'll give my Wii a new game...
borgster101 - November 14, 2007 09:04 AM (GMT)
^ You need to get Metroid as well ;)
But yes, Galaxy is going to rule, living up to the hype from the sounds of it! :D
Random Hero - November 15, 2007 12:52 AM (GMT)
So, why is the game not doing well in Japan? Apparently, Dynasty Warriors 6 is outselling this game. :(
ElPresidente - November 15, 2007 12:59 AM (GMT)
Nintendo's over-reliance on franchise characters starting to have a detrimental effect?
dave_cool31 - November 15, 2007 01:00 AM (GMT)
well it topped the sales charts in its first week...
Anyway, if you've been paying attention, you should all know how much I want this game :D

But Dynasty Warriors 6 is ahead of it? That isn't a franchise? :P
Also Japan is all about Wii Fit these days :P
Robert - November 15, 2007 06:55 AM (GMT)
To be fair, Mario is probably up to like Mario 13 or something :P
borgster101 - November 16, 2007 07:15 AM (GMT)
I played it! :D
It was amazing, such a fun game, all the moves from Mario 64 are back, except Punch which is now a Spin Attack, I was able to get into the swing of things very easily. I got to the boss in the stage I was playing, but then ran out of time so didnt get to defeat it, ah well. Going upside down and what not, is strange at first, but it works very well, camera always is where it needs to be, and there is some very clever level design based around this mechanic.

Sank my teeth into a promo copy.
I'm pretty confident saying this is the best platformer ever made.

how/where/when?
Also, dvdcrave are selling the European (which is PAL, which means it'll work on Australian Wiis just fine) version of SMG as of next Wednesday. So tempting to order it from there...
Robert - November 16, 2007 12:49 PM (GMT)
Why do they give mario the voice of a 5 year old child? :P Its annoying, why the hell did they do this? An italian plumber that sounds even more high pitched than Richard Simmons
Ninja Catfish - November 16, 2007 02:07 PM (GMT)
I can't imagine Mario with a deep voice.
Like "Yo, The name's Mario. Sup yo"

At the eGames expo in Melbourne! WOOO :D
dave_cool31 - November 17, 2007 01:49 AM (GMT)
:o nice - is that free to the public?
Anyway, so I ordered SMG through dvdcrave, I haven't paid for it yet, but yeh, so hopefully I'll get it by Friday :)
borgster101 - November 17, 2007 02:24 AM (GMT)
No, you have to pay for tickets, but they are cheap, $16 Adults, $13 Concession/Students.
Fanatic - November 17, 2007 10:02 AM (GMT)
Its out here in europe.
I might be getting it tomorrow.

I've got the voice of the large police robot from Futurama in my head
"Shine get, awwwwww yeeaah..."
Anyway, people are remarking that this is a return to the form of Mario 64, so I'm sold. I didn't hate Sunshine - it just didn't have the tightness of Mario 64.
thebigm - November 18, 2007 04:03 AM (GMT)
No 1. Game of All time, so very hard to wait for this game, especially with no Wii as of yet... :(
Qubert - November 19, 2007 04:15 AM (GMT)
The best game of all time clearly isn't this.
The best game of all time is Wii Sports. Amazing storyline. :P
NismoR34 - November 19, 2007 05:18 PM (GMT)
Call me ignorant or something, but Galaxy really doesn't come across as a game that could be the highest rated game of all time. I mean, sure it looks absolutely fucking brilliant, but even then it just doesn't seem like it could knock something like OOT (even though I favour other Zelda titles over that) off the top spot.
Interesting times we have in gaming at the moment then, with two games coming close (BioShock and Orange Box) and now a game that has finally beaten OOT. Only makes the future even more enticing, doesn't it?
borgster101 - November 20, 2007 03:12 AM (GMT)
You really have to play Galaxy Nismo, then you'll understand ;)
dave_cool31 - November 20, 2007 04:00 AM (GMT)
but he can't because he has no money :P
Also, I ordered this from dvdcrave because they're selling the European version from tomorrow, and I'm getting it express posted to me, so hopefully I'll have it by Friday :D
borgster101 - November 20, 2007 04:16 AM (GMT)
I decided to wait for the AU release (which is only another week) to give me time to finish off Metroid :)
And of course, now there's epic Mass Effect taking away some time.
dave_cool31 - November 20, 2007 04:18 AM (GMT)
I'm playing through Mass Effect, too, and I haven't played Metroid Prime since I got Mass Effect... But Super Mario Galaxy I'll definitely be playing, and will probably end up winning more of my free time than Mass Effect will. Also, I'm going to be more busy in December than I am this month, so I like that I can get Galaxy a week early and play it more until December :)

Damn fanboys. :P
borgster101 - November 20, 2007 10:20 PM (GMT)
Fanboyness aside, Galaxy remains awesome ;)
dave_cool31 - November 21, 2007 01:47 AM (GMT)
I really hope my order ships today, when I checked the status a few minutes ago it hadn't shipped yet, so I really hope they send it today so I can get it by the end of the week. I'm glad I ordered express post, too... Can't wait to play it :D
EDIT: just checked my order status, it's shipped so I'm expecting it by the end of the week :D if it arrives tomorrow I'll be one happy camper...
Drake - November 21, 2007 08:03 AM (GMT)
Well my order shipped today, how am I going to sleep tonight! :P
borgster101 - November 21, 2007 09:27 AM (GMT)
Hopefully I will finish Metroid before the 29th, I'm very close now, so it should be fine :)

I know how you feel :P I really hope I get it tomorrow! I suppose if I don't I still have Mass Effect to play (unlike Nismo :P)
NismoR34 - November 21, 2007 05:15 PM (GMT)
Hmm, improving but still needs work. :P

Don't worry, it's back down to second now anyway. :P
Robert - November 22, 2007 04:59 AM (GMT)
Absolutely amazing so far. Probably in my top 5 favorite games of all time.
dave_cool31 - November 22, 2007 09:11 AM (GMT)
I got it in the mail this arvo and played it for maybe 3 hours, until I had to turn it off for a while. I'm waiting for my bro right now because we're about to go out (the only reason I'm not still playing it) so I thought I'd take the time to post on here. In short, I totally agree with Robert.
It's such an incredible game, it's very fun, and colourful, too! I am partial to colourful things, but it is just an awesome game in all respects so far. I've got about 20 stars so far, anyway I gotta go so I'll post more impressions some other time.
DJ-Civic - November 22, 2007 04:04 PM (GMT)
Stop teasing me Dave. I'm gonna snap this up asap as I want to use my Wii for something other than just Mii creating and sending Borg msgs. :P
