After years of David Duchovny talking about the sequel, and almost 10 years after the first feature, 20th Century is finally ready to start production on The X-Files 2 with the actor in place to reprise his role of Special Agent Fox Mulder. Gillian Anderson is also expected to be back on board to play Special Agent Dana Scully.

Shooting is scheduled to begin on December 10 in Vancouver under the direction of series creator Chris Carter. Carter and Frank Spotnitz wrote the script.

The studio is referring to the film in casting breakdowns as "Done One."

The popular series ran on Fox from 1993 to 2002. Rob Bowman directed the first feature, which hit theaters on June 19, 1998.

Sounds good. I can't wait. I loved the 1st movie. Fight the Future. :D

Eh, I really didn't think the movie was that great imo - the tv show to movie translation could never be connected properly. It just felt like a 2 part episode with a slightly higher budget

Once I get my complete DVD boxset in the next 2 weeks it may get me pumped up for the movie but I doubt it.

As long as this doesn't effect his Californication filming schedule I don't care.

I think a "monster of the week" stand alone story is much better than a conspiracy one. The main conspiracy storyline got incredibly boring, IMO, starting with the first movie. Season 9 had very little good ideas, so I think it would be a bad idea to continue with this (despite the fact it might answer some questions, & give a "better" resolution). I'd rather see a stand alone one than a complicated mythology film that continues a crap storyline. Thats just my opinion.
