Title: How often do you exercise?

Qubert - October 30, 2007 03:41 AM (GMT)
I was just curious about this, do you have to force yourself to run, or perhaps you have a gym class or athletic trainer? Myself, I usually run once or twice a week, plus indoor soccer.

Stevorooni - October 30, 2007 04:04 AM (GMT)
At the moment I'm getting up early every day (except Sundays - me sleeps in) to go for a walk before breakfast.

The body is still adjusting to daylight savings though so it's a bit tough at the moment when the alarm goes off at 6am!

Andy - October 30, 2007 04:06 AM (GMT)
tennis wednesday nights for two hours. tennis saturday mornings and afternoons. Unfortunately I've given away the martial art, so that's a little less exercise that I do.

Other than that... I'm lazy.

_MetalliX_ - October 30, 2007 04:07 AM (GMT)
The exercise I do isn't for the sake of exercising, but now that I've lost my license I ride my bike everywhere, I walk around campus all day, and me and my mates ride motorbikes on the old tip site every Sunday - which trust me is very tiring.

Resident-Seven - October 30, 2007 05:31 AM (GMT)
I really need to start a daily exercise thing, I'm just not motivated. :(

dave_cool31 - October 30, 2007 06:25 AM (GMT)
I started doing weights about a month ago. Am doing them 3 times/week, in fact, I'm going to do them now.

Ninja Catfish - October 30, 2007 09:34 AM (GMT)
Not enough.
My main regular exercise would be going for a 30 minute walk into town on my lunch break at work on most days.
Also when I'm in Perth, I'll spend hours walking the streets. And this happens on a fortnightly/monthly basis.

But yeah, I need more.

/backslash - October 30, 2007 09:56 AM (GMT)
30min bike ride everyday @ 25kmph+ to get to work. Aside from that not much else unless I need food or rent out DVDs. I need to eat more, I'm losing too much weight at the moment to do any other form of exercise

f15active - October 30, 2007 09:59 AM (GMT)
Ever since I stopped playing soccer its been go-karting! Although I've only been a handful of times after these exams are over it will be happening far more regularly, and it is pretty tiring...you are definately sore all over afterwards.

Same boat as backslash though. Not enough weight, although I desperately need muscle :fight:

Decman - October 30, 2007 11:06 AM (GMT)
Hmm, well, it depends really. I do weights every evening, but they're just two-handed curls. I've gotta start working the individual biceps. I go running through the field across from my place on the weekends, but I can't now because there are f(arting) cows grazing it. There's a rowing-machine downstairs too, and because I've got Halloween holidays, I'll be able to use it most days this week.

I really need muscle. My best-friend is thoroughly ripped. He's got biceps the size of footballs and a six-pack to boot. I'm 5'9" and weigh 9.5 stone/132lbs/60kg and on the BMI, that puts me at the '26th percentile' (the 85th percentile being overweight and the 5th, underweight apparently), so, for a 16 year 10 month old male (), I'm at 'just the right weight'. Hmm... I dunno. I certainly need more exercise. NEED MUSCLE.

Resident-Seven - October 30, 2007 11:05 PM (GMT)
I need muscle in my chest and stomach... I've actually got pretty good arms as I used to do weights a lot.

Tony Takitani - October 30, 2007 11:16 PM (GMT)
I usually go through periods where I'll walk every day for weeks, then not do any walking for weeks. I'm very inconsistent.

(I don't do any other form of exercise)

borgster101 - October 31, 2007 02:16 AM (GMT)
Does Wii Sports count? :P

There's some guy who's apparently lost 15kg playing Wii Sports everyday, can't find the article though, it was made just after the launch day I think

Yeah, I remember that, but that was with other exercise as well.

I'm in a similar situation, actually. Ever since I moved in with my dad I've been pretty much losing weight, because we tend to eat smaller portions here than I did living with my mum. When I moved in here in August last year I think I weighed probably 83kg or something (80-something, anyway) and now I weigh about 76kg (I'm about 6" for reference, possibly an inch under, I haven't measured myself for ages).

It's definitely a better situation to be in than being fatty boomba like I used to be. Seriously, when I was 12 I weighed about 92kg. Anyway, I've been trying to get my dad to buy some protein powder so he can "share" it with me. But I also generally need to eat more, especially meats! :P

I still have a slight bit of flab on my person (not really much, just grabbable bits, but I'm not really sure if it's actually fat or if my skin is loose because I used to be overweight...), but I'm trying to replace that with muscle... But I felt pretty good when a friend of mine told me that he's on a diet and I said that I'm trying to eat more :P

Random Hero - November 1, 2007 03:48 AM (GMT)
Never, I'm living proof that you can stay at a decent weight (I'm under average) without doing anything. :o

NismoR34 - November 1, 2007 05:40 PM (GMT)
Exercise?

What's that?

Read: I don't do any and somehow I still manage to stay the same size (which is your average build, I guess). I don't eat much so maybe that helps, but yeah I don't seem to change much at all. Maybe it's because I'm tall?

I dunno.

DZ - November 7, 2007 08:31 AM (GMT)
5 times a week, I vary the muscles I work at the gym. I'm naturally skinny so I lose mass very easily, sux!!

Suity - November 7, 2007 01:47 PM (GMT)
Started going to the gym about 6 months ago, maybe a little less. I've managed to go at least once every week since then but usually I go 3 times a week. I'm kind of losing faith though because the only change I've really noticed is that my arms are a bit bigger.

I know it's my eating habits though which I haven't changed at all. Its hard when you don't prepare your own meals though.

I'll be starting futsal again soon, which is a good 40 minutes exercise. Only once a week though.

EDIT: How many times did I say though? :P

Ali G - November 8, 2007 02:10 AM (GMT)
I don't do much, but then again, I'm ridiculously skinny. I'm 170cm and 50kg, which gives me a BMI of 17.3, which is underweight.

Decman - November 8, 2007 09:33 PM (GMT)
Woah!

Eat, boy, eat! STEAK! PASTA! :P

186cm, 66kg - not sure what that makes my BMI, I believe it's 19 or something. Like 1% body fat or something ridiculous, but I'm trying, I eat chips and gravy five days a week!

Drake - November 9, 2007 01:22 AM (GMT)
Oh man chips and gravy is good, with the right gravy of course.

Being Skinny. The only solution is double quarter pounders. Get into them boys! :P

Yeah, I'm like 5% fat.

Decman - November 9, 2007 10:52 PM (GMT)
What the hell, Freak?! 1% body-fat?!! Jesus, you'd be screwed if the climate ever changed in Australia. Damn the quarter-pounders, you need bloody Big-Macs or something!

I'm 5'9" (176cm, apparently) and exactly 60kg, but I'm not precisely sure what the situation is with me, body-fat wise.

bacon up that sausage, boy!

Also, Dec, as far as I know, a Quarter Pounder actually contains more fat than a Big Mac...

Decman - November 10, 2007 01:47 PM (GMT)
Really? :P I always just presumed there was more in a Big Mac because of the 'big'... Okay then Freak, screw the burgers altogether; get yourself to a vat of lard and drink up. :D Sick...

Beast - November 13, 2007 09:55 AM (GMT)
20 minute walk to work monday to friday. Footbag most evenings, touch football on Thursdays and training on Sundays. 30 minute walk and footbag on Saturdays.

Takora - November 14, 2007 05:56 AM (GMT)
2 hours of squash every week. Good stuff :D

Inquisitor - November 14, 2007 08:19 AM (GMT)
Man, you guys are all way too skinny.

I'm about 176cm @ 76kg.

6' is just about the limit for standing up comfortably on a cityrail train...

Decman - November 21, 2007 08:45 PM (GMT)
Meh, at least when I go to Japan all the chicks'll dig me. :P 'Ooo, honto ne? Honto ne? Okii ne?'...

Yeah, baby. :D ;)

FreakTrigger - November 21, 2007 10:10 PM (GMT)
I think that's actually the exact attitude that results in the opposite response...

dave_cool31 - November 22, 2007 12:32 AM (GMT)
speaking of height, I saw a guy at work last night who was 7'2". Yeh, he was really tall.

Oh yes, um, sports!...

dave
7'2"?! WTF. I've never seen someone that tall! There was a student in my school last year who was about 6'7" or 6'8"; I think I stood a little below his shoulder! :P Was this 7'2" dude in proportion or was it due to some visible syndrome or something?

dave_cool31 - November 23, 2007 05:09 AM (GMT)
he seemed pretty much in proportion to me... Someone else who was working that night asked him how tall he is, that's how I know. But his nipples were at my eye level :o

Robert - November 29, 2007 04:50 AM (GMT)
7'2"! That's gnarly tall, imagine how many times a day he'd get asked how tall he is! It would drive me nuts being stopped in the street all the time.

Gnomey_g - December 7, 2007 04:33 AM (GMT)
I do a couple of hour long 'boot camp' sessions a week, in addition to the odd bit of weight training at home. Also like to go bodyboarding, when the weather/swell permits. Which lately it doesn't :(
