Does anyone here know anything about car audio? As you guys know I've just got a new stereo Head Unit for my car. But I'm thinking of getting some ridiculously load speakers for use at parties (like in the middle of a paddock) and so on... I do NOT want them for when I'm just driving around, so it's be great if you could just runs the stock ones for that.

I know pretty much nothing on the subject, so I have no idea what stuff you actually need (besides the speakers), like amps and the wiring.

Here are the specs of the speakers I was thinking of, any advice/comments?
FEATURES:
# 2000w max power, 800w RMS
# 4 ohm
# 3" Heat Resistant Voice Coil
# Huge Magnet Structure
# Semi-Press Cone
# Die-Cast Aluminum Basket
# Flexible Rubber Surround
# Chrome Aluminium T-Yoke
# Push Type Terminals
# Frequency response 30Hz - 500Hz
# Sensitivity 89dB

1998 Mitsubishi Lancer Coupe

I don't have a photo on this PC and it's raining and windy so I'm not going outside to take another photo.

That's my baby, unfortunately I can't drive it for the next 3 months. Hopefully though by the time I get my license back I have some decent cash for mods.

Ow, it's so clean, I like it. Not a real fan of the square designs, which is why I went for the VT.

Pic doesn't work :(

[EDIT] Does now!

Wait, you have a 300GT/GTO don't you?

My sort of car is a 96 manual BMW 323. I'ts my dad's car but he's now letting me drive it if I pay however much extra it'll cost to put me on the insurance.
However within a year it'll just be mine as he'll be buying a new car. Probably another 3 series but he really likes the Alfa 159 however is wary due to Alfa reliability issues.

To tell you the truth I would've been happy with a VU, VY or VZ (I have a ute) I really don't mind the shape of the VU, my mate just bought one and it still looks modern. I just got this car for a ridiculously good price so I'm very happy with it.

That was back from the old auto thread when we were discussing dream cars... I wish I had one.

That's the pic on the dealer's website from when I bought it.
Doesn't look much different now, just sounds better, sound system FTW.

I'm sure we have a car thread already, but I'm too lazy to find it and lock this, well I have to leave in a minute so there's my excuse :P

Anyway, carry on.

As much as I like to give something a chance to stand on its own merits, I don't think this will end well.

http://www.news.com.au/entertainment/story...6-10229,00.html

ANything that will be produced will only be compared to the UK show, and it'll only come off as a pale imitation of a great show. Besides, does Australia really need a local version? If the show bags our local rear-wheel drive offerings, it won't be taken seriously (overseas visitors can look up Ford Falcon, or Holden Commodore)

But this asks another question: why can't we simply make our own show, without using the Top Gear name? Why do we have to imitate successful overseas shows?

Anyway, I wish SBS all the best. So long as they don't take the current show off the air, i'm a happy camper

At least SBS have taken to keeping with the airing of the UK show (they also signed a deal further extending the show for a while).

Speaking of Top Gear... I'll be back with a post tomorrow about it ;)

^ Will you now? That sounds intriguing...

Aussie Top Gear eh? While I admit I'd watch it, I too can't really see the point for it. We've got local cars sure, but we don't really have a lot of the international cars in this country (and if we do, there's only a small amount of them) and plus these cars are covered by the main show anyway so yeah it seems rather pointless.

Even if our version had their own version of the test track, what would they run around it? A V8 Supercar?

It'd be better to just ship one over to the the main show instead...

Well I was planning on doing a "recap" of the S10 so far, complete with images and comments... that's going to have to wait a little bit though, day went too fast (guess that's what happens when I wake up at 1pm...), so yeh, I'll write it up sometime though, and make you even more enticed to watch the up to date show :P

NismoR34 - November 20, 2007 06:09 PM (GMT)
I haven't been watching Top Gear since it moved to its Saturday timeslot because I keep on forgetting about the show.

Really sucks because I love it, but yeah I just even think about it on weekends because I'm too busy gaming or doing other stuff.

:(
