Title: Poll of the Week 17
Machiavelli - October 1, 2007 10:52 AM (GMT)
Within a group of online people I know, I'll occasionally lay the verbal boot in, tongue in cheek of course. :D On the other hand, I can't be bothered slinging insults back and forth with random abusive players, why not let them talk all they want? It just makes the win that much sweeter. B-)

I don't play games online, just the occasional LAN where swearing is frequent :P
Kris Miska - October 1, 2007 11:53 AM (GMT)
im pretty frequent to trash-talk. lol its fun though, and especially when u pwn sum dude and crap and idk, they have fun with it too... its good to laugh at urself sometimes
_MetalliX_ - October 1, 2007 12:03 PM (GMT)
I trash-talk ("Bam! Oh man I kicked your ass!") type stuff, but I hate it when you get absolute idiots insulting people over the net, probably the main reason why I don't care much for online gaming anymore.
Ninja Catfish - October 1, 2007 01:51 PM (GMT)
To an extent.
I try to be polite because I can't stand the 12 year olds that'll play CSS or a similar game and just be yelling out 'My f*cking god you c*nt you stole by f*cking kill c*nt'
I'll trash talk, but not abuse/insult.
Qubert - October 1, 2007 02:24 PM (GMT)
I hate the trash talkers. I don't mind competitive talking, or even a little smack when someone "owns" you, but the 13 year old kids who insist on talking about my mom or just learned the F word can ruin an otherwise fun game session. Muting is the only solution.
NismoR34 - October 1, 2007 06:22 PM (GMT)
Civ and I swear.
A lot.
And then some more.
No really.
I reckon every second word sometimes is a swear word, when we're playing Gears of War or something. But then again in a way it's to be expected. That game is full of people who cheat and so on so it's a bit hard not to get angry sometimes.
As for trash talking/insulting people though, nah I don't do that and I also try to stay out of any 'fights' that people might be having in game.

To get verbably abused by me, one must do the same first. :ph43r:
Basically, I won't say anything bad about you unless you say it. I'm generally nice online. I have only played 3 games online, though.
Unreal Tournamnet 2004 (PC) - very little time, didn't own the game, I don't think I ever talked (no headset).
Timesplitters: Future Perfect (PS2) - I played this a lot starting back in Sept. 2006 and ending in July 2007 when EA pulled the plug on the servers. I talked a fair amount... I think I only verbably abused one person, at most when they did the same to me.
Note: I got a mic late in December.
Need For Speed: Underground 2: Started playing this a few weeks ago, I haven't been on in a while, but I might get on, soon. :ph43r: I generally, don't talk during races (I usually unplug the mic when a race starts). I don't think I have verbably abused anybody, so far.

I will 'verbally abuse' others, if they do to me. Although getting into arguments online is the utmost in pathetic, I sometimes do get dragged into them. I never speak though; just type. :P Although, unleashing mega-pwnage on people that do 'trash-talk' is the most satisfying. :D

No I'm polite to everyone :P
Trash talking is for losers. :P When people swear and stuff, I usually just ignore them, or sometimes 'politely own them', which makes them more angry, and makes them look even more pathetic.

I agree that swearing and acting like an online tough guy is completely retarded. But some trash talking can be incredibly funny, I see it more of a comedy thing than anything else.
NismoR34 - October 2, 2007 06:00 PM (GMT)
I don't do it often but I also will make weird and random comments in reply to some rubbish trash talking that people are doing or whatever. It depends on what they end up saying first, obviously but it's always funny to me because it always throws them off guard and they have to think about what they're going to come out with in reply, rather than the nonsense dribble that they were coming out with only seconds before. It's been good fun at times.

Whenever I've played online I'm usually the one being abused, which is why I don't play online very much now

This is me 'cept for the occasionally part it's almost constant with people I know otherwise I don't care what people say unless I'm dead and waiting for a new round, then it's not trash talk just talk.
