Title: Your Favourite Season
Description: Winter, Summer, Spring or Autumn?

Ghost Boy - May 15, 2004 11:46 PM (GMT)
As I was viewing Evolution, the rain absolutely started to come down outside. I thought to myself "geee, I absolutely resent the cold and miss Summer so badly already".

I have a friend who is the complete opposite though - he finds Summer horrible and Winter very comfortable. It's a classic 'each to their own' situation.

So I would like to know what's your favourite season and why do you like it in particular/why do you not like the others? I'm avoiding a poll simply because I would like some decent responses.

For me, summer absolutely wins hands down. I do enjoy the heat and the sun a great deal. You are able to go to the beach, live in a pair of shorts and a t-shirt, eat dinner outside, spend stupid amounts of time in the pool (if you have one) etc. There was a time when I really did enjoy winter though. Not only is my birthday in winter, but I was a big fan of the logic that it's easier to warm yourself up in the cold than it is to cool yourself when it's hot. Throwing on a jumper is easier than finding a good A/C.

One of the main reasons for the change, aside from all that listed above, is the fact I hate it when people get those annoying head colds yet still feel the urge to come to work/Uni. You're not proving anything to anyone when you show up sick - you're just pissing those healthy ones off as they're more than likely to catch it. It was even worse back in my school days, as a lot of parents forced their kids to go to school rain, hail, shine or lung hanging out. Have a little respect and get over your cold before returning to the general population I say!

Summer all the way for Endless G's. B)

I'm a winter man personally, I love the racy mornings and brisk sunsets. It allows me to wear the clothes i want, like jackets and long pants etc.

Anyone who knows me will tell you I'm a big pussy, and because of that another reason I like winter is that it's good hugging weather

So yep, Winter for me, Grrrrrrrrrrregg. :)

SMIThouse - May 16, 2004 01:19 AM (GMT)
I like autumn, because it's not to cold, not too hot and I can wear my comfortable mix of clothes, long pants/short sleeves, which pwns. Also, the leaves are pretty

CLL - May 16, 2004 01:19 AM (GMT)
I prefer winter as well. I like the cold mornings and also find it much easier to get to sleep at night, as opposed to those oppressingly hot summer nights, where I can't get any sleep at all.

Morphix - May 16, 2004 02:12 AM (GMT)
Well I I think for summer and winter, would you rather die of heat or cold? I would choose heat, but my fav seasion is the one from like july to november, about, or something, the perfect day is 25 degrees, baby.

Film Guru - May 16, 2004 02:18 AM (GMT)
Oh yeah Gregg! Hold those waves for me, cause I'm surfin' with you in Summer! B)

I would be a Summer nut...a HUGE Summer nut. Words cannot describe how much I live for Summer to rock up. I got an insanely huge collection of hawaiian shirts, three different pairs of shades, tons of thongs (the kind for the feet :P ), and just generally my wardrobe looks like it's ignored the season of Winter completely. I love the sun, the heat, and the good times that go with it. Call me insane, but more often than not on a warm Summer morning, I will literally leap of of bed and scream "YAHOO!!" at the top of my lungs, and sing all the way through my shower. Summer days give me an incredible energy boost as well as giving my optimism an unbreakable high.

So yeah, I'm a Summer freak. I also love it cause for some bizarre reason I find it a whole lot easier to write during Summer. So I can't wait for this dull time of the year to end and for the Summer sun to rain down. Whoo! :D

Anymore optimism and your head would explore Guru. :P

I'd have to agree with you by saying that summer is definitely my preferred season though. Despite the often sticky and insanely high temperatures overall I enjoy being able to do more outside without the rain interfering. It's also nice to get back into a regular swimming routine during the summer months at my local public pool.

Hehe, I was going to say the same thing.

I've got such a weird image of FG jumping out of bed and skipping down the hall to the shower singing to himself in my head right now. Oh no, here comes his dad to throttle him!

:P

Kid Wakelin - May 16, 2004 03:35 AM (GMT)
I am a spring person. Not only because that is when I am born.

Unlike summer, the temps are not mid 30's, but are pretty much perfect. Everything gets greener and it just seems thing start to come to life.

Oh, and FG, you're a freak

Film Guru - May 16, 2004 03:38 AM (GMT)
*LMAO* Heh heh, go optimism! Whoo! :P

oVerCaffeinated - May 16, 2004 03:55 AM (GMT)
Winter, the Sun sucks the big one.

MrRae - May 16, 2004 04:02 AM (GMT)
Winter all the way for me. It's easier to warm up in winter than it is to cool down in summer. Stupid sun :P

Dude - May 16, 2004 05:16 AM (GMT)
Winter and Summer for me. I love the beach so I love summer, but I really enjoy going shopping in the rain and just sitting infront of the fire, so winter aswell.

Chrisł - May 16, 2004 05:37 AM (GMT)
Summer. Without question. All the other seasons can get f*****.

I love it hot and I despise the cold with a vengeance. Anything below 25 degrees is freezing for me.

Bring on global warming I say!

quartz_donkey - May 16, 2004 06:46 AM (GMT)
Winter all the way. Hate the heat the cold doesn't seem to bother me as much as most folk, there's less people on the street to bother me, people finally stop bitching bout how bloody hot it is(it was hit last year too fools), the computer doesn't have to howl with a millon fans to stop it crashing, people smell less because they're not sweating. And finally the true idoitcy of some girls comes through in the short skirts but scraff and heavy jackert there wearing. (don't care bout the spelling mistakes)

Cerebral - May 16, 2004 07:58 AM (GMT)
Summer kicks ass.

The coldness of winter is damned uncomfortable. Summer allows us to cool off with a swim, or water-related sports, which is always a definate bonus. I mean, there's not sports that involve standing by a heater, is there?

Besides, I sleep naked on hot summer nights. :D

*power thrusts*

tinklez - May 16, 2004 08:14 AM (GMT)
I love mid-to-end of Spring when we get the 23-27°C days here in Melbourne. I also love Summer, but I can't stand those stinkin' hot 35°C+ days.

Winter is only good becuase of the clothing fashions.

Sybatical - May 16, 2004 08:20 AM (GMT)
Winter.

Basically anything below 20 degrees. :)

StElLaR - May 16, 2004 08:27 AM (GMT)
Winter all the way. Who doesnt love the winter clothes more than there summer clothes??

Gnomey_g - May 16, 2004 09:37 AM (GMT)
My favourite season is definitely winter. I can't stand the sun, and winter generally sticks it to the sun :D I also love stormy weather for some reason, and winter gives me an excuse for staying in ;)

_MetalliX_ - May 16, 2004 09:56 AM (GMT)
I prefer the colder months for the simple fact that it is easier to warm up then cool down. Although I do dread that freezing cold toilet seat and that sudden rush of cold as soon as you get out of bed in the morning.

I too like stormy weather, I don't know why, everything just seems right went its storming outside, call me crazy. I especially enjoy opening up my blinds on a stormy weekend and lieing in bed, reading a good book. Its very soothing and rythmic.

Ratchild - May 16, 2004 10:16 AM (GMT)
I would have to go with winter, I love storms and dark clouded days, sitting inside staying warm. Also, the staying warm is easier than getting cool thing. I do get sick of winter by the time summer comes round though, nothing beats summer evenings and wearing clothes that are easy to slip into. So yeah, I'm more of a winter person, but I still need my summer dosage too.

James Thrawn - May 16, 2004 10:27 AM (GMT)
Summer. Tis the season for partahing on down! And then there's christmas (the family thing), but mainly I love it because it's warm and it's more tempting to go out at night.

Me.

Me too. I'm starting to prefer warmer weather. I live on the coast so if it's too hot I can head for the beach. Plus I live in a house with crappy heating, so winter nights are biting cold.

[m]averick - May 17, 2004 01:29 AM (GMT)
Summer and the beach does it for me, but then again winter is footy season! (AFL that is, don't kid yourself with that lame rugby shit).

My wardrobe is more suited towards summer but winter you get a better nights sleep (my house doesn't have A/C, it came down to either A/C or a pool and the pool won out thankfully.)

I don't mind either but I hate the people who wish it was winter in summer then turn around and say its too cold I can't wait for summer again....

jawbreaker982 - May 17, 2004 01:33 AM (GMT)
I'm all for winter. It's the perfect excuse to spend the entire day lazing around in bed with the girlfriend. And yeah, it's easier to get warm than it is to get cool. I mean, there is onlt so many clothes you can take off before the courts want their say.

Spag - May 17, 2004 02:39 AM (GMT)
Seasons will not exist in 10 years the way things are going. It'll just be 52 weeks of generic weather. I prefer winter because being cold is not as bad as being to hot. I prefer studying in winter and having to go to school in winter. Summer is nice for the holidays, however :)

Machiavelli - May 17, 2004 04:09 AM (GMT)
Spring. Not to cold, not to hot - just right.

bob the destroyer - May 17, 2004 09:51 AM (GMT)
Spring and Autumn. Summers here are obviously stupidly hot, and then i'm not cut out for winters cold. at the moment we are having perfect weather so if that continous, that would be good. Ok weather god?

[m]averick - May 17, 2004 10:20 AM (GMT)
I thought to myself 365 days of 27 degree days and 12-15 degree nights ensuring comfort for all but the more I read this thread the more I appreciate different seasons.

I would hate one season all year because I love where I live. We got cold, not freezing, but we also get really hot 40+ days.

It's great, go variety!!!

im Agreeing with gnomey here, i love winter i dont feel cold and my pale gothicish skin (though im not gothic) makes sunlight a terrible blistering experience.

WINTER ALL THE WAY!

darklord - May 17, 2004 08:31 PM (GMT)
I LOVE summer, its great, even better in queensland(well for the 2 weeks we are there) but i also like winter, i like when its raining outside and im in bed :)

NismoR34 - May 20, 2004 10:39 AM (GMT)
I absolutely love stormy weather, as a few people could tell you. Ask Civ, or anyone I talk to regulary, and they can say that I always get excited when I hear thnder or rain even. So because of this reason, I prefer Winter. Although, I don't actually have a favourite season, because all the seasons suck down here in Canberra. (We have firestorms in summer, and absolute no rain in winter.)

Lordage - May 20, 2004 02:03 PM (GMT)
I like them all, I don't really care which it is.
I love Summer, as I can Bodyboard and spend my time at the beach, but living on the North Coast I can do that in Spring and Autumn too. :P
I like Winter as I can just curl up inside under a blanket and watch T.V/Play video games... I also love the rain. Usually in Winter I soend my time indoors with friends or at the pub/RSL where it's warm. :P

Chancewithinadoubt - March 20, 2007 04:10 AM (GMT)
Mine is honestly a tie of Fall and Spring... Spring rains alot and I love the rain but it can be overly humid because of it... not to mention the cold is going away.. so thats nice after having a winter on anyhtign below 60 (Texas.. I dont like the cold... It snowed this year....)
The fall though it is awesome outside, everything is changing colors, smells nice and it's getting cooler from the 100+ days Everyhting starts to calm down and relax from the summer...

both you cna get outside without it being too cold or hot.. theres usually a nice breeze aZNd if it's not rainy theres people out!

Nags - March 22, 2007 02:09 PM (GMT)
Summer, much the like recent wii poll i prefer Boiling hot over freezing cold any day. I'm much more tolerant to heat, which helped at the national jamboree in Virgina, which reached a heat index of 115 degrees Fahrenheit in the middle of a field... waiting for our wonderful president who was a no show.

Ali G - March 23, 2007 04:56 AM (GMT)
lol old thread.

I like winter and autumn. It's too bloody hot in summer. Though I don't mind summer in Switzerland, but that's because it's more like our spring/autumn.

FreakTrigger - March 23, 2007 05:54 AM (GMT)
Winter.

Good lord, give me winter!

I must be descended from proud viking stock, intermingled with the blood of killer whales and fairy penguins, I'm not happy unless winter's rushing at me like a shark with knees.

luvable_bear - August 12, 2007 09:49 AM (GMT)
winter and i hate summer because where i live the low is 100 and the high is 107 so its why too hot in the summer winter will always be better
