Random Hero - September 10, 2007 02:08 PM (GMT)
How did you get your job at Gamehead?

Is it awesome working for an online game retailer?

Will anyone snatch GOTY '06 from Bioshock?

Resident-Seven - September 10, 2007 02:42 PM (GMT)
Do you think Random Hero actually meant "GOTY '07"?

Random Hero - September 10, 2007 03:02 PM (GMT)
 thebigm confused me with "2009". ...Yes I did mean 2007. :P

Decman - September 10, 2007 08:24 PM (GMT)
Ever thought you were wasting time playing video-games?
Europe or North America? :P
I just ate something I thought was chocolate, but it tasted like soap. Will I die?
Do you think I can earn enough money to get myself to Paris by February?

Macbeth, eh? ;)

Some questions for Freak:

1. Are you a freak?

2. Is working at Gamehead as cool as it sounds, or is there like hard work and stuff? :P

3. Do you read gaming magazines?

4. Do you own any of the current generation platforms? If not, which ones will you buy in the future?

Qubert - September 11, 2007 05:58 AM (GMT)
Green grapes or purple?

Steamed dim sims or fried?

Which do you do first, peanut butter or jam? And don't say neither because we all love peanut butter & jam! :D

If you could be one super hero out of the marvel universe who would you pick and why?

FreakTrigger - September 11, 2007 10:27 AM (GMT)
Random hero:

How did you get your job at Gamehead?

Turned up for my interview playing retro NES Mario in the hallway beforehand to cool my nerves. I kid you not.

Is it awesome working for an online game retailer?

I won't lie and say that it's a magical garden of wondrous delights, but it's a good job. Besides the obvious perks of working for a company with very easy access to any computer hardware/audiovisual equipment/video games you could possibly want, it's a very good working environment. There's a really good vibe in the Gamehead office and the focus on everyone doing their job to the highest level is taken very, very seriously.

Will anyone snatch GOTY '06 ('07 :P)from Bioshock?

Potentially, there's still some very big titles on their way - lets not forget that Halo 3 hasn't landed yet.

Decman:

Ever thought you were wasting time playing video-games?

By the thirtieth round of plasma-pong? Hell yeah.

Europe or North America?

Europe. Do I really even need to get into this one? :P

I just ate something I thought was chocolate, but it tasted like soap. Will I die?

No, but you're going to wish you had. The only pointer I can give you is that when you start to feel a sharp, cold sensation, for the love of god sit down.

Do you think I can earn enough money to get myself to Paris by February?

You can, if you believe you can. All it takes is diligence.

Is this a dagger I see before me, its handle towards my hand?

Come, let me clutch thee:-/
I have thee not, and yet I see thee still./
Art thou not, fatal vision, sensible/
To feeling as to sight? Or art thou but/
A dagger of the mind, a false creation,/
Proceeding from the heat-oppressed brain?/
I see thee yet, in form as palpable/
As this which now I draw./

You should realize that I take my iambic pentameter very seriously.

Borgster:

1. Are you a freak?

No, I'm a pyroclastic godhead. To be a freak would require that one be at least in part akin to something previously understood.

2. Is working at Gamehead as cool as it sounds, or is there like hard work and stuff?

Already pretty much covered :)

Yeah, it's a cool job, but there's definitely a lot of hard work - Christmas and major releases are very busy, but I work in our head office, heading up our customer support, community liaison, handling accounts, maintaining the site, etc - essentially every single part of the day to day running of Gamehead as an entity is at least in part my responsibility, so on one hand I'm stuck with possibly the busiest job in the whole company, but on the other hand, when Burning Crusade launched, I wasn't starting at 4am and working till 10pm at night to get them all shipped. Mines a sort of constant hard work, where our warehouse crew work in an up and down sort of flow.

3. Do you read gaming magazines?

I snaffle Hyper and PC Powerplay out of the office on the odd occasion, so yeah, i do, but I don't buy them :P

4. Do you own any of the current generation platforms? If not, which ones will you buy in the future?

My 360 isn't even hooked up - it's presently gathering dust. It's probably going to be resurrected at some point soon, but other than that, I'm going to be forced to buy a Wii given the titles that are on their way.

Qubert:

Green grapes or purple?

Green, as they're more readily available and I'm lazy/

Steamed dim sims or fried?

Fried - I savour all things unhealthy.

Which do you do first, peanut butter or jam? And don't say neither because we all love peanut butter & jam!

Jam - because it is delicious. I actually don't eat peanut butter :P

If you could be one super hero out of the marvel universe who would you pick and why?

I'm going to pretend that you said DC, so that I can then pick one of it's sub-companies and pretend that you said Vertigo Comics.

Then I can say King Mob.

Best DOS game?

It's a happy coincidence that the BEST GAME OF ALL TIME is also the best DOS game of all time. Oh ye mighty, look on SKYROADS and despair.

Download it for free here. You can all thank me later when I've changed your life.

Yes! I want Skyroads to tear my face off and kick it for a field goal!

Best game of year 2009? (Be inventive)

Duke Nukem Forever. Duh.

What's your greatest achievement?

Wow, that's a hard one to answer honestly. Fostering a healthy derision for the modern world.

What's your favourite thing in the world?

That split second when you know you've done something that can't be ever, ever be undone or done quite the same ever again. First kiss, first black eye, first cigarette (of the morning, sometimes), first time you almost die, first time you work up the guts to do something that's been haunting you. There's a first time for everything and they're my favourite things.

Keep them coming people :)

3. Half Life 2 Episode 2 is coming out soon, excited?

1. Have you ever played Dreamfall/The Longest Journey? If not why not? (I'll pimp this game to my death tongue.gif )

No, I haven't :P I'm too busy with skyroads - since I mentioned it in my last post, I'm addicted again.

2, If you could live without one of these, what would it be? Sleeping or eating?

I'd live without eating - I'm a lucid dreamer, so I can have all the flavours I like.

3. Do you collect videogame soundtracks or normally just don't care?

Normally don't care, But I have the japanese full FFVII soundtrack and Beyond Good and Evil.

4. Watch any anime? If yes, please list personal favs

Evangelion and Hellsing - past that, not a lot, besides a few movies. Like most people I like Miyazaki but I don't take it out to rabid fanboyism (except for maybe Castle of Cagliostro),

5. Ever get any free games/dvds from working at Gamehead? Maybe at xmas? Discontinued lines or whatever

I can lay my hands on discontinued games fairly easily, but as for free things it's mostly promo materials - we don't just take home games without at least paying the cost price :)

Though if anyone wants about ten thousand copies of the saints row micro-OST I'm probably good for it...

Drake

Favourite controller of all time?

Probably the dual-shock - it fits my hands really well and the sticks just feel right. I'm a sucker for the wii and I love the novelty controllers one finds around the net, but simplicity and solid design tends to be best.

Which console would you prefer to see take it out this generation and why?

Probably the Wii - I just love to back the underdog.

Second Slashy

1. Why is this question so awesome?

Because it doesn't attempt to influence my take on Cassavetes.

2. Speaking of which, do you like games with good storylines and characters?

Oh yes, Cassavetes has everything to do with that - thank you for spotting the connection :)

In other news, I certainly do - it's one of the main things I look for in games.

3. Half Life 2 Episode 2 is coming out soon, excited?

Not immediately, I probably won't be buying it on first release, despite being a big HL2 fan - I actually half want to wait for the ultimate sort of release we're bound to get right at the end when the series is done.

4. Speaking of which, what do you think about the Orange Box, and essentially no way to just get the single Episode?

It's not even on steam?

Well blow me down - I'm slightly unsurprised, it sounds like the standard steam bitchcraft.

5. Cats or Dogs?

Dogs. Don't make me post a picture of my dogs, because I'll talk about them all day.

QUOTE (Freak)

Well not at the moment, but looks like the single episode will be available on Steam in the future, at the moment Orange Box is the only way to get it. That said, if you want Portal or Team Fortress II or both, then the Orange Box works out cheaper, since Portal has me intrigued I went for Orange Box, oh and TFII will be good fun as well.

If so, what are your thoughts on the ULTIMATE WARRIOR! :D

Does gamehead have a forum too?

He sounds like a pretty hard bastard.

It's a secret. Within 3 weeks you'll go "ooooooh!"

Excited about the AFL/NRL grand finals?

I'm not at all, am I weird or unique?

FreakTrigger - September 29, 2007 09:21 AM (GMT)
It's the grand finals?

I honestly didn't know, I'll have forgotten by tomorrow and I couldn't care less :)

Also, you're not at all.

NismoR34 - October 1, 2007 06:36 PM (GMT)
Has Gamehead had any returns for Halo 3 and if so, was it because of the scratched disc issue or because of the Disc Read Error that I also have?

Or perhaps even both?

FreakTrigger - October 5, 2007 07:14 AM (GMT)
This is obviously something that I can't go waving about on the internet - I've got quite a few obligations with regards to information that I can and can't share and things like this definitely come under that banner.

I'll just say that it's the opinion here that the internet's made this seem like a much more widespread problem than it really is.

NismoR34 - October 5, 2007 05:09 PM (GMT)
Well not really and no I don't say that just because I happen to be a victim.

On the thread about the issue at the Bungie forums, there's only 500 or so people (who have been added to the list at least - I'm not one of them so that's 501 at least ;)) so when you factor that amount into the amount that Halo 3 has sold already, it's a very minor amount of people. So yeah, I can understand that point of view on one hand and not on the other because the issue hasn't hit the big sites (IGN for example) and doesn't seem like it will due to its small size.

As for not being able to divulge that information, I understand that and I apologise for asking. I should have known stuff like that wasn't exactly stuff you could yell out down at the local. ;)

FreakTrigger - October 6, 2007 02:00 AM (GMT)
There's no need to apologize :)

Solid figure are just something that I really cannot and wouldn't share - in all seriousness though, I don't think the issues been any worse than most quality control and certainly not as bad as the Bioshock collectors edition fiasco.

It has the illusion of being widespread simply because it IS Halo 3 - such a massive quantity of copies have been sold that if a quality issue is affecting 0.1% of copies, then it's affecting hundreds of thousands of people :(

FreakTrigger - October 8, 2007 11:53 AM (GMT)
Someone else should certainly be taking up this mantle, neh?
