Title: Poll of the Week 11

Machiavelli - August 2, 2007 05:22 AM (GMT)
I tend to fluctuate between Light, Regular and Hardcore most of the time. At present I'd fall into the Light category as I'm really only playing three games sporadically. However, that will drastically change in August when Bioshock kicks off one of the most astonishing gaming lineups I've ever seen. :dance3:

It depends on the time, at the moment I'm probably a regular, but during certain times of the year (i.e. holidays) I become hardcore and sometimes very hardcore when I'm really into a game, (i.e. Dreamfall ;) ) .

But I'll have to vote for "Hardcore" if choosing just one, since I'm a mod of a videogame forum here :P

Inquisitor - August 2, 2007 10:08 AM (GMT)
I used to be hardcore, but now I'm just light.

Light. I used to be nuts over videogames, but now i simply enjoy them as a viable means of entertainment - preferable over movies, in my eyes.

So yeah.... what Ink said.

Used to be hardcore, now just light (like Inquisitor)

I think it's got to do a lot with my gaming environment. PC environment good, console environment bad. Even with my HD 32" LCD I just don't feel like playing games. I'm pretty sure it's because my tv still isn't big enough since I'm sitting pretty far back and I have to sit on the coffee table to get a decent view on what's happening. Hasn't felt as cosy since I used to live with my parents

So my plans for late next year is:
40"+ TV screen, 5.1 setup (I'll probably use my Z-5500s), new leather couch and more additional furniture. Sucks because I only upgraded everything last year :P

Random Hero - August 2, 2007 11:42 AM (GMT)
That's kind of a hard question for me to answer. Since most of the games of this current generation and most of the last one all pretty much sucked with the new fad of FPS games and games that require tutorials, I don't play much in the way that is current since it is boring. However I do play tons of old stuff and am hardcore collecting for those old machines. I can name most titles on all of those old systems, yet I barely even know what Bioshock is. I may have seen 1 or 2 screens and yawned.

I also used to be hardcore, but now I'm probably only casual. I haven't played in at least two months, and I haven't bought a game for about 8 months. However, once Metroid Prime 3 comes out, that might all change.

borgster101 - August 2, 2007 12:03 PM (GMT)
Might change that?

You mean it WILL :P

Qubert - August 3, 2007 08:12 AM (GMT)
I would say I'm leaning more on the hardcore side of the fence than casual since I do still game more than half the days of the week but with much less devotion as my early teenage years.

dave_cool31 - August 3, 2007 11:28 AM (GMT)
I'd also consider myself a light gamer, but that will probably shift up to regular or possibly hardcore for a couple of weeks after Super Mario Galaxy comes out, and then will likely shift back to light.

Drake - August 5, 2007 05:01 AM (GMT)
I don't like the term hardcore/casual. I just play anything that looks interesting which just happens to be quite alot.

Hardcore games and gamers seem to have taken on different meanings over the last 1/2 dozen years or so. My idea of hardcore games don't even exist on consoles (maybe one or two games/franchises a generation) and are becoming somewhat rare on PC. I do like both...though the most casual of casual games are a turn off.

Asguarde - August 5, 2007 12:40 PM (GMT)
I'm pretty Regular, I suppose.

Stevorooni - August 7, 2007 11:00 AM (GMT)
Usually regular. I haven't been 'hardcore' when I was in uni, staying up to all hours of the night playing Zelda, finding every little secret. Now a regular sleeping pattern and a job stops me from doing that.

Sometimes I might go weeks without playing a game though.

NismoR34 - August 7, 2007 06:48 PM (GMT)
Hardcore for me.

I mean come on, I am going for Seriously in Gears.

That says it all...
