Title: Hackers

Programmers can hack, so can i :) Im a programmer and hacker, i could even hack this forum :P

Im a good type of hacker as i collect bugs, so dont get the wrong opinions of me...

To the popular press, "hacker" means someone who breaks into computers. Among programmers it means a good programmer. But the two meanings are connected. To programmers, "hacker" connotes mastery in the most literal sense: someone who can make a computer do what he wants—whether the computer wants to or not.

To add to the confusion, the noun "hack" also has two senses. It can be either a compliment or an insult. It's called a hack when you do something in an ugly way. But when you do something so clever that you somehow beat the system, that's also called a hack. The word is used more often in the former than the latter sense, probably because ugly solutions are more common than brilliant ones.

Believe it or not, the two senses of "hack" are also connected. Ugly and imaginative solutions have something in common: they both break the rules. And there is a gradual continuum between rule breaking that's merely ugly (using duct tape to attach something to your bike) and rule breaking that is brilliantly imaginative (discarding Euclidean space).

Yes i am a computer geek, but would like to think of myself as a intelegent rather than geeky :)

 The kid 'evil' hacker in live free die hard uses an Alienware laptop LOL. Anyone notice that? If you don't know what I'm talking about, he's the kid with the glasses that works for the bad guys, and he kept pushing his glasses against his face.

Well the point of this topic was to illustrate to admins that their security is not as high as they may think...

Or rather for you to put yourself up on high pedestal saying how you can do a lot of things?

And illustrating that their security is not as high as they think? Really, can you give me a case where the administrators have told you that the security is such that warrants you to even bother making this thread?

The fact i posted this, i was going to ask Makavelli wether or not i am aloud to test this forum, and to see what bugs it carries.

I personally am concerned, if someone access' the database and takes my email and then start sending me SPAM mails. And Maybe i shouldn't of made this thread, im sorry for that if your so annoyed bigm...

You remind me of someone i talked before and you got the same nick. Any chance you play TC? If not again sorry...

You guys all need herbal viagra!

And Uni degrees by correspondence!

And septic tanks!

And your great grandfather twice removed left you a tenner, but you'll need to buy me a coke before I walk down to your ma's and pick it up!

Seriously now, you're going to get spam anyway. Welcome to the internet. If you're all that concerned just have a few email addresses, rather than pulling the hacker vs. cracker routine everyones heard so many times :)
