Forums, discussion groups and other online communities can be great sources of information, but the good ones can be hard to find, and time-consuming to monitor. None of the major search engines offer specialized tools to search specifically in forums, so you need to rely on more specialized tools to find what you need. So i think Evo should do more advertising on other forums ( where they are alloud ) to get more members, and good members.

I was part of a community before, but left because of the argumentative posts and the agressive members...

Forum i Came from and my leaving mesage:

Ce is full of very confident people, and have unique skills in their php abilities, but ce members that are just overly argumentative and can’t accept that their are other opinions apart from theirs or just the sometimes difficult relationship between forum newbies and longstanding members, I personally think you people think that your in a comptetition with each other and just wana slag each other down after someone reaches alot of reputation...

CE has been runing over year. Mainly talking about gaming/coding orientated and mostly frequented by newbies and a bunch of regulars that were divided into several groups. If you agree to someones post someone straight away critisazies it and says something like 'your game is rubish sign up to mine'. And not to be rude but people causing problems are the ones that have peoples respect and are popular in this community, for example someone like Cronus and Arson worked hard to get their reputation and popularity, but at the end got 'verbally batered' by some other popular people in the forums, all 'top guys' are cool, but get too tedious and argumentative when someone reaches their ammount of respect. I may be wrong but that how things apear to me...
This forum is a massive community, but the members are generally people that think too much of themselves and prefer to argue rather than share their opinions and debate, and support aswell as agree.
When this arguements happen, people feel insecure and get tired,so the regulars that get 'bitched about' leave or stop posting. People are now creating more and more of an atmosphere that no one really wants to be part of.

i Asked them a queastion ; why can’t people accept the fact that there may be and I know this may be hard to understand that there are other opinion to theirs? Surely it’s about the civil debate/discussion instead of all following like sheep in a herd? ; they said no forum is without arguing, well hes wrong because this forum has a MUCH BETTER ATMOSHPERE.

Now what i can say to improve on... Maybe add some topics, to evolve :) , Like maybe online games... I am a php coder so i dont mind leading it. We could even form a project together...

Also have something like Evo Cash. Wich you get by posting and DONATING and ofcourse winning in arcade. For that you could buy REAL games ( this suggestion is if only the admins have enough funds )

What if we got rewarded in some way... Badges. It wouldn't interfere with the forum in anyway, but underneath our avatar we could display our favorite badge that we have earned, and when we click on it, it takes us to a page that showcases our badges.

Badges could be earned for merely referring a member, or even being the Member of the month or something similar. These small badges would make the board a whole lot more involved with competitions and even get the staff more motivated.

Please look into it, it could really boost the forums' activity

So yea, i would like some type of userbar/badge underneath my avatar. I think VIP people should have a badge too, and so should donators

We'll look into many of these ideas. However, I'm a little hesitant to implement any of them straight away as the Zetaboards upgrade is on the way. It'll be a lot easier for us once we make this transition.

EVO has a better atmosphere than basically everywhere - there's plenty of different personalities and opinions on everything, but people always seem to get along or at the very least, agree to disagree.

Particularly with regards to who is and isn't Backslash :)

I think it's a bit of a Schroedinger's cat situation - there is actually one entity that is simultaneously Backslash and Borgster thanks to a catastrophic quantum breakdown bought about by radiation, boxes, cyanide and housecats.

I may have broken down this entity, unless the balance* forces backslash to conform to one again <_<

Totally, it's weird because every and I mean every other forum i've been involved with has crazy, petty flame wars. I don't know what you guys done but this place is pretty special.

You know I've actually had this Dreamfall wallpaper on my desktop for ages and was thinking of using an April Ryan avatar (Zoe isn't as good as April). Couldn't find a decent artwork image of Crow Boy anywhere :(
