Title: E3 2007
Description: Discussion, hopes, thoughts

I was watching the Microsoft conference on G4, did anyone hear when Adam said "you guys enjoying this", if you listened closely you could hear someone telling him to shutup, and him saying "don't you tell me to shutup".

HILARITY!

Microsoft's conference was average because people DO expect mostly new things when they watch these press conferences. If you only expected stuff from 2007... than you have EXTREMELY low expectations around E3 when it has not been that way for the last 6 years. They usually have the games that come out this year on display at E3 grounds (which could have changed because of location and downsizing but from what I have heard... no). Than use there press conferences to show what new things they are working on or show lots of big new footage of the games they got coming up soon. As a "show" it wasnt bad, but as an E3 conference this ranks just around Sony lvl bad of last year because of the lack of new things to look forward to.

Most peoples impression with the end of this conference compared to past E3's... Nothing worthwhile coming up after this year. That is what E3 is supposed to do. Get you ready for the holiday season and beyond. And they Failed miserably with it.

Ok so one conference down, two to go! Let's hope nintendo and sony do a better job.

Did you watch the whole conference? I had a look on Gamespot and it was 475mb for 1.5hrs for a low-res video! Thank god for Youtube, I'm saving the file to my HDD so I can watch it anytime :D Only 36min remaining for 115mb

Used to be so much easier just paying $20 for the E3 DVD with all the trailers bunched together + high resolution footage. Even if it was 3 months after E3 actually happened. I just really hate downloading this sort of stuff and trying to acquire everything you want with 1000 tabs on your web browser

I'll post my opinions later

Poll added.

Nintendo's conference was dry, too many montages, the only thing that really got me excited was Super Mario Galaxy. Generally they were all pretty mediocre, but to my surprise Sony actually delivered for the most part - Kojima and his MGS trailers seem to work wonders. Ultimately Sony looked marginally better because of how poorly Nintendo and Microsoft did. Instead of grandstanding about sales and critical reception, they showed games; the ultimate point of e3.

Well Sony didnt have any stats to brag about :P They needed to do something, hence the more impressive showing at E3 (i.e the games).

It's funny the best E3 press conference is always the underdog in the marketplace (because they have something to prove), usually thats Nintendo :P Very weird situation this year.

Thats said still some good stuff came out of Nintendo's confernce, great to see Galaxy, Metroid, Mario Kart etc .. Also Nintendo released trailers of the respective games on the net (which look amazing) but they werent actually shown at the conference.

My vote goes to "all the games", there's a lot of great stuff to look forward to, MS's lineup remains awesome, Nintendo's lineup is looking quite solid too, Metroid and Galaxy are coming to PAL this year, along with others like Battalion Wars. Sony had a good showing of games, but again not a lot we didnt know about already either.

Hardly any suprises this year.

IGN E3 Awards

Basically swept by the 360. No surprise really considering It's 2007 line-up is absolutely incredible.

Fairly predictible winners, nonetheless some great games to look forward to for 360 and Wii end of this year :D

Crysis loses to COD4 again when it comes to graphics. First Gametrailers, now IGN. I guess somebody forgot to remind the developers behind Crysis that a game must have a smooth frame-rate in addition to eye-candy.

To be fair, they are both PC games, and with PC games, the framerate is fully dependant on the system it's playing on.
Can't judge the two games unless they are both finished, and on a level playing field. i.e. on the same PC

QFT and one thing that I can guarantee is that Crysis will be more friendly to lower end systems than COD4.

The original FarCry engine was extremely scalable and the devs have said they are aiming for the same with Crysis.

COD for immersion, Crysis for freedom. Oh wait, we're talking about the importance of graphics? My bad.
