QUOTE

14:49 :
Developers for Assassin's Creed come on stage. Apparently EVERYTHING that you can see is reachable. No one sees Altair jump down. Bumping into people is not a great idea. Need to know the people as well as the city. Game has a very Prince of Persia-esque feel. They fall into a trap. Combat is shown off. Emphasis on well-timed combos and counters. Environment can be used as well. No two chases will be the same. People will be thrown in your path, you'll be taunted. Assassin's Creed will be available in November.

14:43:
Attention goes to Japanese developers. Talks about Virtua Fighter 5, Eternal Sonata, Ace Combat 6 and Devil May Cry 4.
Shows off the only game not to be released this year - Resident Evil 5. Setting looks South American, possibly North African - Full trailer will be released July 26th on Xbox Live.

14:41 :
Second trailer shown off. Again. October 16 release in the US. 19 for Europe. Two episode will be release in Spring 2008. Apparently, Xbox 360 will have the "full" experience.

14:39 :
Splinter Cell: Conviction - exclusive to Xbox 360.
Attention goes to Xbox 360 version of Grand Theft Auto IV.

14:38 :
COD4 to be full of variety? It certainly looks sharp. Game looks to implement some dynamic elements, not so much run-and-gun so far. Exclusive to Xbox 360 - COD4 will have an online beta.

14:32 :
Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare shown. COD2 was the top-selling 360 launch title. Infinity Ward developers come on to show the game in detail.

14:25 :
PC version is being shown off. Five new single player chapters, new multiplayer and new achievements. Shows a fight against the Brewmack?!? We don't remember being able to take that much damage.

14:22 :
Windows gaming. Viva Pinata is coming to Vista and, surprise, Gears of War is coming as well, with more content such as a game editor. Cliffy B. comes onto the stage to show the game. Gears of War is the top selling game on 360 so far.

14:21
Lost Odyssey - simply put - looks awesome! Three big RPG's on the way.

14:20 :
Kim is back. Says PGR4 will be out in September. Talks about Alan Wake, Banjo, Fable 2 and Halo Wars. Claims that Xbox 360 is the most powerful console for creative story-telling. Says that Lost Odyssey will be available this year - shows a trailer.

14:17 :
Shows off the bikes in the game. Game looks quite slick. 120 top cars will be in the game. A range of dramatic and dynamic weather effects are being promised. Game will allow you to share photos and videos on demand. Show the latest trailer.

14:14 :
Shane Kim comes to the stage. Talks about the games. Apparently, MS games have the highest average review score from the last two years. Forza and PGR have been some of the best selling titles for the 360. Developers of PGR 4 come to the stage to show off the game.

14:11 :
August 24 - Xbox 360 Elite will be launched in Europe. No price specificed

My quick thoughts

There is going to be great lineup of games for the 360 :D but we essentially knew about all of them, so there wasn't really anything suprising, still a great lineup nonetheless, but yeah no megatons, will be interesting to see how Nintendo's and Sony's conferences will be.

That glimpse of Resident Evil 5 was awesome though, just finished through Resident Evil 4 on Wii, so yeah I'm pumped for that! Next year though :(

A lot of people are complaining but I don't see anything particularly wrong with this conference. It's just that not much of it is in any way unexpected, I guess certain gamers figured there'd be some major announcement involving a tattooed arm. The way I see it is we already know what we want and we'll receive it in spades this year. I mean my wallet is crying as we speak, the 360's lineup for 2007 is so damn good It's almost absurd.

borgster101 - July 11, 2007 05:55 AM (GMT)
Yeah there's not much to complain about, in terms of the amount of games shown, I think it's just the fact that there was no megatons, would have been awesome to see say a Solid Snake tattoo for MGS4 ;)

But nonetheless, the 360 lineup is looking brilliant, in fact I'd say there's too many games ... not sure how I'm going to play them all, to be honest, so thats hardly a bad thing!

I had the Eurogamer magic updating text thing covertly hidden in the corner of my screen

It was great until it stopped working... :( Then the site died. Then I tried Kotaku and it was all good... until it stopped working... :( and died

So MS launches stuff on 360 Market place during conference..think Wii owners will get anything to download? I'll explode if we do! :argh:

Was the 360 presenters graphs old? I'm pretty sure Nintendo's Wii sales are over 4 million, aren't they? :o

NismoR34 - July 19, 2007 04:42 PM (GMT)
Late to the party here but my thoughts on the MS conference?

Well, I think it did what it had to in order to confirm to us as gamers why we should be wanting/owning 360s this year. I don't care whether they played it safe, didn't reveal anything spectacular or whatever. The simple fact of the matter is that the lineup for the end of this year is out of this world. There hasn't been a year this good since 2004 and if you ask me, this year is already beating that one in terms of upcoming games. I mean come on, looking at MS's lineup alone brings us what? 15 or more absolutely fantastic looking games that are probably must-have?

Yeah sure, some of these games are multiplatform but ignoring that for a second there is simply no denying that the end of this year for 360 owners is absolutely brilliant and I for one can't wait for it.

I was disappointed to not see Banjo 3, Too Human, Alan Wake and the like but in a way that's a good thing because there is already too many games to focus on as there is.

Annnd all of the above probably makes me sound like a Microsoft fanboy. If that's the case then so be it...
