Title: Playstation Portable Version 2
Description: Somewhat confirmed

Neo.Sanity - July 8, 2007 01:59 PM (GMT)
An undisclosed friend of mine working at a major retailer has informed me that there should be a new PSP model hitting the shelves after E3, 2007. All I can confirm at this stage is that is has an undisclosed amount of flash memory.

Very cool indeed!

The tears of this person was frozen, wasn't it? :P

Sony will probably announce it at E3, they need to do something to catch the DS.

Like go back in time 18 months?

Fyuusii - July 10, 2007 10:10 AM (GMT)
It'd need to be damn good if they want to catch the competition, considering Sony can't even seem to make up their mind about a price cut to the PS3. The verdict keeps going backwards and forwards as it's uttered from different executives, at least in PAL territories.

Really, the PSP needs a better software lineup over a hardware overhaul. This lack of direction from the local teams doesn't exactly instill much faith in me that things will change.

If there was to be a PSP 2, or PSP redesign of the original, you gotta wonder w/ all the features, will it cost more than a Wii...?

Stevorooni - July 11, 2007 11:35 PM (GMT)
So it's been announced.

Pretty much exactly the same, except it's slimmer, lighter, faster loading times and a better battery life. Plus it can output video to the TV.

Why Sony didn't throw a freakin' second analog stick on it somewhere is beyond me. Everybody would've been messing their pants with excitement over it. :P

dave_cool31 - July 12, 2007 07:11 AM (GMT)
I'd really like to see a picture of the new version - it's kind of cool that it can output games and videos and whatnot to TV, but I'm still not going to buy it unless they bring out some awesome games... Especially now that I have Lumines on my phone :P

'Cause then any games that use both anolouge sticks wounldn't be playable on teh old one, simple really. Does anyone know what it looks like will it have some sort of screen protection?

Stevorooni - July 13, 2007 10:53 PM (GMT)
Here's some pics of it here

Doesn't look all that different

The thing I like about Sony's upgrades are that they don't make the old version completely inferior in comparison * cough GBA SP cough * , they just kind of improve on things a little but you don't feel forced to get the new version.

Having said that, if I see a nice enough deal I'd like to upgrade my PSP :P Seems so damn heavy now

Random Hero - July 18, 2007 11:36 AM (GMT)
I was wondering what everyone would think the pros and cons of a "PSP Lite" would be. Here are some I was able to come up with:

PROS:
Lighter
Easier to store
Better for Travel
Cooler looking design

CONS:
Too fragile
High pricing

Now these obviously aren't all, I was just naming a few. So what are your views? Also, if you think of it, how many cases have you heard where someone dropped their PSP about 4 feet and it broke? A smaller version would break from just about anything.

dave_cool31 - July 18, 2007 12:55 PM (GMT)
if it's more expensive, that will probably hurt its sales even more, because I wouldn't even consider buying it if it goes back up in price...

Stevorooni - July 19, 2007 10:06 AM (GMT)
Well now that I've heard that the battery life isn't any better I don't think I'll bother with it.

So really, they repackage an old system, add a feature or two that you may or may not use regularly, and slap a few hundred bucks on the price tag?

I prefer the actual marked improvement.

Well not if they keep it around the same price of the original, which it is said they will.

The slimline PS2 and PSOne weren't more expensive than their parents.
