July 8th, 2007 - The traditional E3 expo in May was cancelled, and in its place the E3 Media and Business Summit, this is the first of the redesigned program, and while there will not be a big show with lots of games playable on the show floor, it appears that there will still be significant announcements from major gaming companies during this coming week.

Something that hasn't changed, and what has been the source of major announcemens in the Console gaming scene is the press conferences held by the big 3 console manufactors, Microsoft, Nintendo and Sony. It is expected that major announcements will be made at these conferences as well as a full showing of titles for the upcomming holiday season. Below are the scheduled times for the press conferences:

Microsoft: July 10, 8.30pm pacific time
Nintendo: July 11, 9.00am pacific time
Sony: July 11, 11.30am pacific time

The Australian times for these conferences are as follows.

Microsoft: July 11, 1.30pm EST
Nintendo: July 12, 2.00am EST
Sony: July 12, 4.30am EST

Kinda strange. Gaming sites don't seem to be that concerned about E3 at this point, you wouldn't think it was less than a week away. Sure, it got downsized, but isn't it still the biggest video game expo in the world?

Oh and Mass Effect will steal the show this year. :D

I'll definitely be waking up early for the Nintendo one, gotta be watching live for that shit.
Don't know if I can be stuffed with the others, I'll just get up at the normal time and read the summaries :P

Might get up/stay up for the Nintendo conference, havent watched them live before :)

Microsoft's is during the day so that should be pretty easy to watch live :)

Gaming sites dont seem to be hyping up E3 as they usually do, but I guess its because of how different it is, oh and many of them are pissed that they have to travel all over EA to cover the event, most gaming journalists seem to think that E3 is pointless these days, especially since major 3rd parties host their own gamers day events anyway.

Major thing about E3 this year, is the big 3 conferences, which is where the bulk of information always came from anyway.

Well daytime ones will be a little hard for me to watch when I'm at work :P

"Hey why's the internet running so slow?"

Boss: "Hey Steve show me what you're working on"
Steve: "uh... ok..." * quickly closes E3 windows *

I'll grab and watch Microsoft's conference whenever it pops up on the Marketplace (and will just read what happened beforehand, I guess) while I will probably end up watching the other 2 live as they are both on when I am usually online. Should be good as I haven't watched all 3 live (or at all for that matter) before; just the Nintendo one last year.

Someone please tell me, where do you even find these E3 videos? All the other times I've watched them on the E3 DVDs which are now defunct

NismoR34 - July 8, 2007 06:06 PM (GMT)
Someone linked me to a stream of the Nintendo conference last year so obviously I used that to watch it, otherwise I've got no idea.

You hear of IGN and big sites like that and how they are going to have live streams, but as far as I know that is all premium content right?

borgster101 - July 8, 2007 10:40 PM (GMT)
Gamespot does a live stream, which is free, but low quality of course.

Stevorooni - July 9, 2007 05:27 AM (GMT)
I watched the Gamespot one last year... once it eventually connected.

I think Gametrailers do a stream as well (not entirely sure)

EDIT: Screw it I'm also gonna get up early for the Sony conference tomorrow. I wanna find out about an Aussie lower price and the PSPLite

E3 is exciting, it's like geek xmas.

Shouldn't that Sony conference be on July 12 Australian time?

If I don't see anything from Rare I will be pissed.

Microsoft's Conference is coming very soon guys, exciting :D

DJ-Civic - July 11, 2007 07:11 AM (GMT)
This year's E3 sucks. I remember when the GameCube was unveiled all those years ago... I got up at 3am to watch it in the freezing cold. Ah the good old E3 days. ;)

borgster101 - July 11, 2007 07:36 AM (GMT)
It's only just started Civ :P

Though the MS press conference didn't have any OMG moments, lots of great games, but we already knew about them ...
