Top stuff there /backslash!

EDIT: zomg I got a mention. I went crosseyed when you were going through the work - fun - priorities cycle :P

/backslash - June 28, 2007 10:13 AM (GMT)
Goddamnit, I just got my microphone today and you've already made an episode! :P Guess I'll have to wait until next time before I join in, haven't heard any of this new podcast yet as I only got in the door a few minutes ago. Anyway I'll post my opinions later :)

borgster101 - June 28, 2007 11:25 AM (GMT)

Well I thought I'd give a proper episode a go, since the Beta wasnt really a "real" Podcast.

_MetalliX_ - June 28, 2007 11:38 AM (GMT)
Great podcast Borgy! Like I said before its great to actually hear from another forum member.

I think to spice it up we should have a weekly roster with a new user podcasting each week, and where possible users should get together to do the podcast.

borgster101 - June 28, 2007 12:38 PM (GMT)
Thanks mate :) Yeah as I mentioned future podcasts will have several staff members in on the podcast, and perhaps we can have "guests" (i.e another forum user) to join us :)

Stevorooni - June 28, 2007 01:01 PM (GMT)
You also sound nothing like I expected you to. I was expecting a deep booming 'I AM A MODERATOR' voice

So are you disapointed or pleased? :P

/backslash - June 28, 2007 01:21 PM (GMT)
Download Episode 0.51 here! 1.8mb, (3min roughly)

Different voice this time, it's actually myself as I finally got hold of a decent microphone. Umm...like borgster's first one this is a beta and it's merely a sample. I'm still trying to get used to the whole thing because it's weird just talking to myself, anyway enjoy!

Btw borgster that was pretty good :D Surprising how fast those 45minutes past though since I'm trying to work out why it's nearly 9.30pm now

Decman - June 28, 2007 03:57 PM (GMT)
Nice to hear you slashy! :D Unfortunately, I can't hear borg's until I get broadband access over at my granddad's place next week, but for now, the two sample clips are fine. :P

And sorry guys, given with the spirit of sample betas, I couldn't resist. I did a tiny 50 second one, just to showcase my lack of vocal talent and express my sincerest excitement. :P :woot:

Evo Podcast 0.52 (It's a WMA file: no matter how much I tried, I couldn't get an mp3 conversion)

You'll have to scroll down the page a bit to find the downloading options. Heh. :ph43r:

Anyway borg, can't wait to hear the show. :P

NismoR34 - June 28, 2007 05:09 PM (GMT)
Just downloaded all three Podcasts so I'll give them a listen and post impressions later. :)

Stevorooni - June 28, 2007 11:09 PM (GMT)
Now we just need to merge all 3 together so it sounds like there's multiple people in one podcast! :P

D43M0N - June 28, 2007 11:14 PM (GMT)
41 minutes say what!

Stevorooni - June 28, 2007 11:50 PM (GMT)
It's 41 minutes of Borgster just making car noises

vroom vroom VROOOOOOM!

Angra - June 29, 2007 01:23 AM (GMT)
Awesome, guys!!

I'd love to help out with this if I can, so you can all hear my lovely manvoice :D

borgster101 - June 29, 2007 01:37 AM (GMT)
Wow! This a suprise more betas or umm alpha's? :P

Nice to hear you slashy :D Mach has to teach us how to say his name :P

Dec, I couldn't download yours... :whistling:
EDIT: worked it out, too many ads :P

Nice one Dec, WOO British accent :D

D43M0N - June 29, 2007 03:54 AM (GMT)
It's pronounced Mack-ee-a-vell-ee (Machiavelli), and was the last name of a 19th Century Italian poet if I recall correctly; it was also an alias for Tupac (misspelled, however, as Makaveli) and Harry Houdini.

_MetalliX_ - June 29, 2007 04:15 AM (GMT)
"Live from the Pacific Ocean..."

I PISSED MYSELF LAUGHING

HAHAHA!

"Games I've been looking forward to Crys... Oh wait! Gotta go bye!"

I am loving these podcasts. Actually might as well just have anyone and everyone send in their own demo just so we can hear their voice.

Well it's nice to know I've been pronouncing it correctly in my head all of these years!

borgster101 - June 29, 2007 07:06 AM (GMT)
Like I have time to remember 19th centurty poets :P

Machiavelli - June 29, 2007 07:38 AM (GMT)
Right, so we all know how to pronounce it now? Or should I make an announcement? :P

Fantastic stuff from all of you, especially borg with his epic 40+ minute podcast complete with commercial breaks and bloopers.

You can pronounce it for us, when we have the official podcast Episode One launch :)

And with a solo 40 minute podcast I needed those "commercial" breaks, and of course there was going to be bloopers :P

Anyway guys, finally a Podcast that isn't solo! Episode 0.53, featuring borgster, backslash and Decman!

Episode 0.53 Here

Decman - June 29, 2007 10:07 AM (GMT)
Hahahahahhaha!

I lol'd. Quite a few times in fact. :P :D That was brilliant borg, nice work.

"So /backslash, what do you think of the store-exclusive special editions?"
"Store-exclusive special editions can get stuffed in my opinion."

 Awesome.

borgster101 - June 29, 2007 11:08 AM (GMT)
Cheers Dec! :D

The conversation flow is suprisingly natural

/backslash - June 29, 2007 12:36 PM (GMT)
 @ Borgster, taking advantage of my crappy podcast >_>
Nice to hear from you as well Decman

I think I'm sick of talking to myself so I probably won't attempt anymore solo podcasts for the sake of less embarassment :P

Rargh! Let me know when you guys are going to do another one! I've got a microphone.

Reach me on MSN dengit. ardist@comcast.net

borgster101 - June 29, 2007 10:42 PM (GMT)
Sure thing Angra, I'm thinking for Episode 1 and future 'proper' episodes we'll have a few staff members in on the Podcast, as well as a "special guest" who will be anyone else from the forum, since you have a mic, (and broadband, I assume) you'll be the perfect first guest :D

Oh and Episode 0.53, ummm isn't "real" :P

listening to some of borg now, Super Monkey Ball is pretty dang hardcore, however, I still have to say that violent games have a different effect on aggression than Super Monkey Ball's frustration. That is to say, Super Monkey Ball makes you rile for a while (haha, rhyming), but then you calm down, whereas hyperviolent games encourage you to be violent. What I'm trying to say is, frustrating games can annoy and frustrate, but violent games, whether frustratingly hard or not, tend to have a negative influence on the player's general attitude, kind of thing. Well anyway, I know what I'm trying to say :P

NismoR34 - July 3, 2007 05:07 PM (GMT)
Listened to all three Podcasts and found myself laughing my arse off quite a few times. Slashy and his ocean, Borg and his feeling that he had to apologise for something (gee I wonder what that was ;)) and just the general stuff that was said. T'was very funny and I enjoyed them. Kudos to Borg for doing a whole 40 minutes by himself, that's just nuts. Oh and nice little subtle hint towards something I've been thinking out a loud about over at some forum that we won't name Borg. ;)

Looking forward to the first real one after hearing all of these, definitely. Should make for an interesting and hilarious listen. :D

borgster101 - July 4, 2007 01:42 AM (GMT)
Cheers Nismo :D Glad you enjoyed it! Honestly I thought I had to apologise for something, BUT I really did go to the toilet during the break!!

Dave: indeed frustration in a game like Monkey Ball v.s. whatever effect a violent game may have, is indeed different, but violent content is not necessarily a negative effect, cursing because your monkey fell off the stage for the 100th time, is nonetheless a 'negative'. Violent games encourage violence in the game, doesnt mean it will cause you to do any negatives in the real world, like Monkey Ball might ;)

Oh and Nismo, I remember I did some sort of subtle hint, but can't remember what it was

Robert - July 4, 2007 05:01 AM (GMT)
Funny and interesting guys good job, when are we getting some group action?

ok that sounded weird.

borgster101 - July 4, 2007 10:23 AM (GMT)
