Title: Do you sell your games after you finish them?

Robert - June 14, 2007 08:49 AM (GMT)
I've kept pretty much all my games over the years. I know it sounds stupid, but there is just something inside me that wont let go. :P Like there trophy's or something. :lol: Plus I loves lining them all up on my shelves. Do you guys keep them too or not??

/backslash - June 14, 2007 09:42 AM (GMT)
I like to hold onto particular LE (Limited Edition) games such as Shadow of the Colossus or Ico or just some of those games that are enjoyable to replay once in a while (The Longest Journey, Grim Fandango, Monkey Island).

But with a majority I feel the need to free up my shelving space even if they are some of the greatest franchises. Why did I sell Secret of Mana on the Snes though? I have no idea..

borgster101 - June 14, 2007 10:38 AM (GMT)
I hold on to all of my games! :D

Neo.Sanity - June 14, 2007 11:27 AM (GMT)
I keep them for replay value. Before I picked up Test Drive Ultimate last week I was playing through Oblivion again.

BrotherEstapol - June 14, 2007 11:40 AM (GMT)
I pretty much keep the lot...I've learned lessons from other people. So many of my friends regret selling their SNES or N64 and games. :P

Machiavelli - June 14, 2007 11:46 AM (GMT)
I usually prefer to sell the majority of my games once the generation is nearing an end. Only keeping certain titles which I hold in high regard.

Cubeoid - June 14, 2007 12:04 PM (GMT)
I usually keep all mine but there are a few that I will sell. I tried to trade PDZ in at EB but it was only worth $11 because it was one of the games that comes packed with the console or some shit.

I traded in Dead or Alive 3, Enter the Matrix and and Mechassault when I bought Guitar Hero 2. I just never played those games and they were nothing special. Oh and EtM was a pile of dog turd.

Ninja Catfish - June 14, 2007 02:00 PM (GMT)
I hardly ever sell mine. Only back in my days of relative poverty.
And now I'm regretting selling Future Cop LAPD and Unholy War something fierce.
Not making that mistake again.

Decman - June 14, 2007 05:05 PM (GMT)
I've never once sold one of my games. The CC (Caveman-Complex) sets in with me. My shiny trinket stays my shiny trinket. Plus, you can never get good money for selling second-hand games over here. I know someone who bought some Splinter Cell game new, for €60 (the week it came out), to have the price literally crapped on when he sold it back to the shop he bought it from several days later for a shitty €12. :unsure:

Resident-Seven - June 15, 2007 03:53 AM (GMT)
I keep most of mine, cause I buy them cheap, and won't make much by selling the anyway. So it's just better to have a bigger collection, plus, if I get bored I have a lot of choices. I've only had my 360 for a couple of months, and I'm already up to 15 games, with another 2 in the mail.

NismoR34 - June 18, 2007 05:23 PM (GMT)
^ I know how that feels, I'm on 22 360 games and I still haven't had mine for a year yet. Granted, you'll be ahead of me before I do hit a year into my 360's life but then, you have more money than me. ;)

To answer the thread, yes I do keep my games even if I'm not playing them anymore. When I was younger I sold a few games and regretted it immensely, so yeah now I refuse to sell anything. It's just lucky that the games I do own, are ones I enjoy eh? ;)

Quatters - June 19, 2007 05:24 AM (GMT)
If I don't think I'll ever play it again then I sell it.

Resident-Seven - June 19, 2007 05:42 AM (GMT)
It's not really that I have more money, I just refuse to pay full price for them. Forza 2 collectors edition would be the most expensive at $79. Most of them were less than $50.

Robert - June 19, 2007 06:25 AM (GMT)
I'm the same if it isn't a bargain I will really struggle to pay full price the majority of the time.

FreakTrigger - June 19, 2007 06:32 AM (GMT)
I'm quite the same, which makes my current employment extremely convenient.

When you've blown all your money on games and can't afford more, get a job in the industry to get them cheap :)

Resident-Seven - June 19, 2007 06:47 AM (GMT)
I actually had a look at my games, here what I paid for each;

Condemned = $30
Crackdown = $72
Dead Or Alive 4 = $25
Forza 2 = $79
Dead Rising = $31 ($62, my brother paid half)
Gears of War = $37 ($74, my brother paid half)
Kameo = $13 ($26, my brother paid half)
King Kong = $30
Ninety-Nine Nights + At World's End = $105
Perfect Dark = $40
PGR3 = $25
Prey = $25
Ridge Racer 6 = FREE (A friend got it for me)
Saint's Row = $50
Star Trek Legacy = $37 ($74, my brother paid half)
Viva Pinata = $35

So as you can see, the majority of them were nowhere near full price.

Robert - June 19, 2007 06:47 AM (GMT)
Do you want me to cry with jealousy? No, then shut up!!

:P

Resident-Seven - June 19, 2007 06:54 AM (GMT)
I don't mind waiting for games to drop in price, or searching the 10-20 odd games sites to find the best price. Plus, having a brother that will pay half on some games also makes it easier.

NismoR34 - June 19, 2007 05:18 PM (GMT)
That's actually the way I have gotten most of my 360 games too. Most of my purchases have either been off various forum users after they're done with the game/s, or for cheap prices in various sales.

I don't really have an issue with paying full price for something that is newly released though, if I really want the game anyway.

Resident-Seven - June 20, 2007 05:56 AM (GMT)
$80 is probably as "full-priced" as I'll go. I sure as hell ain't going to pay $100+, which is why I haven't gotten Guitar Hero II yet.

D43M0N - June 20, 2007 07:13 AM (GMT)
Guitar Hero I'd gladly pay $120 for.

Nags - July 9, 2007 08:18 PM (GMT)
Yeah, you never seem to get enough money back on games you sold, then when you go to look for them, you remember that you sold it for 5 bucks, when you have a huge urge to play it.
