Title: Tragedy/Event Inspired Games/Mods
Description: your opinion...

With the recent news of Lambourn and that guy that did the map of his school and got expelled for it, I was wondering what everybody thinks of all this.

I'm personally not against it but do find it disturbing that some people can go into so much detail in their mods. Sure they're probably abit talented but its still crazy. I would download these games/mods but only out of curiosity and maybe even a laugh or two but no psycho stuff! ;)

I also think modders should be allowed to do whatever they want, gaming is an art of some sort, then its down to the individual gamer to decide whether to play it or not, nobody's shoving it in your face!

What do you think?

Found and played it, and the guy who made it should be hung.

Seriously, it sucks. he just did it to mock the V Tech victims.

Here is the link to the Vtech Rampage game by Lambourn who's actually American but moved to Australia when he was 14... LINK!

Then you also have the Columbine Massacre game. This game also came underfire some time ago. It is an interesting game but still sick (as in bad :P)

We also have the I'm OK game dedicated to J.Thompson our favourite lawyer!

If you have some more links to controversial games or mods post the links here and lets discuss...

World War 2 games anyone?

DZ - May 17, 2007 10:27 AM (GMT)
There's a lot of those heh! :P It does get tiring after a while playing the same 'setting' all te time but in different games.I don't mind them though, not all are good, you just have to read reviews and buy the ones you think are really worth your time and money. Call of Duty for me, the MoH games were cool but I've grown tired of them, dun't know why...

I think the guy who made the map of his school was done a serious injustice...and that it was simply bad timeing on his behalf.
The amount of maps of real places I've seen...it's such an extreme measure on the schools behalf.

That said, this is why we aren't making any of the Australian maps in our mod based off real locations...we'd be burnt at the stake for making a "Terrorist Simulator".

On the other hand, there are lots of people in the community that want, for example, a Sydney Harbour map....but you know what they say, any publicity is good publicity.(or something like that :P )

That V-Tech game is fucking sickening. Seriously, that just disgusts me. Too soon, so WRONG, everything is just wrong about it.

Games that are based on tragedies not so personal or small-scale, yeah, whatever. But stuff like that is just awful.

EDIT: I just read through the comments on the V-Tech thing on Newgrounds.

lol this game is hilarious. so wat if its based on a stupid little massacre at v-tech. if u have a problem about the game then dont play it or review it. i thought it was great the fact that its about a load of americans gettin killed made it better (if u cant tell im not american and glad of it), one improvement u shud make if u wer to create a second one is to have more levels, better graphics as it looked like u rushed it a bit on this one, more people to kill as we all know he killed alot of people, and well....... that is about it

so over all i fuckin luved it

I literally feel ill. Fuck people.

Damn right I don't wanna play it! What that asshole is saying is that he's never really felt tragedy before and probably doesn't understand losing friends. An overall imature asshole imo. I'm ok with violence, hell I liked Manhunt! But pointless, sadistic excuses for bloodshed in a game like this is what I stay away from. A sad excuse for a game.

To me, if someone had made a CS mod (cos they're most popular) of the V-Tech campus but without having to play Cho, I'd be okay with it. I find it very interesting (although pointless) to 'revisit' these legendary places like Columbine and now Virginia Tech.

I don't approve of it either, but people have been making entertainment of tragedies and world issues for years. Books, film, television, and now games; it's just that the guy who did this is a douche, and games are getting more and more media attention now that there's the whole "VIOLENT KIDS USE COUNTERSTRIEK" thing going on.

It not the fact that he's made the game, its why he made it thats stupid.

QFT!
He said he thought it would be "funny" making people angry.

There are some things you just don't do. It's pretty obvious this guy has trouble discerning between right and wrong.

And attempting to profit from it is truly despicable.
