Title: Creepiest Videogame Enemy
Qubert - May 15, 2007 05:34 AM (GMT)
What is the creepiest enemy you've seen? It can be a single enemy, a whole race, anything. My vote is either on the Beast, from Homeworld: Cataclysm, or the Many, from System Shock 2.

Probably something from one of the Silent Hill games.
Qubert - May 15, 2007 06:16 AM (GMT)
Yeah Silent Hill is definately up there. Oh I almost forgot, that little girl in F.E.A.R. was uber creepy.

Andross, fake or real from Lylat Wars, take your pick. That guy just freaked me out for some reason, if my 64 wasn't broken I would play the game again just to prove to him I'm no longer scared :P :fight:

Looking at Qubert, it's got to be the golemking from Chronotrigger.
Not scary, in and of itself, it just broke my mind and became a manifestation of pure terror by beating the snot out of me so many times.
It takes me ten minutes longer to fall asleep every night because of that bastard.

 Magus was worse. I mean come on, he did that thing where he hides his face behind his cloak. That's not just creepy, that's high class creepy. The creepy equivalent of a top hat and monocle.

The zombies from Doom 3. They moved so slow, and yet they could still sneak up on you, always scared the shit out of me.
The Cherubs (demon babies) also rate up there.

Pyramid Head from Silent Hill 2. That scene where James was hiding in the closet while Pyramid was humping those creatures was pretty scary. Loved every moment of it though

Aye I hear you on those two though I feared the Pinky Demons in Doom 3 the most. The were so big and fast, I shat myself when they jumped out at me.

The Hobos from Condemned could be pretty damn scary, especially when you weren't expecting one to jump out at you or whatever. Oh and need I even mention Project Zero?
Angra - May 15, 2007 11:09 PM (GMT)
Oh my god, Abstract Daddy from Silent Hill 2, dear god do not even mention that thing to me.
See, I just have some weird crush on Pyramid Head.
BioShock isn't even out yet but I'll be pissing myself and crying whenever I see a Big Daddy in that game.

I actually found them horribly anti-climactic.
They look so unbelievably bad-arse and your first encounter with one is sheer hollywood, but once you get over that initial shock they're just plain fraill... they seem to die if you look at them sideways and yell "Bang!" - as well as being nice wide targets that can barely approach faster than you can run backwards.

The knee-biting Cherubs were creepy cos they made weird sounds and were fast. Doom 3 is probably the creepiest game in general that I've played. All the enemies are creepy!
Silent Hill games always have sick stuff but I can't remember the names of those enemies. The sloppy controls made it worse when they required more than the average pipe hit on the head.
Fatal Frame had this scary moment when you first encounter the woman with her head hanging behind her back from the last tendons in her neck.
There's lots so I'll come back and post later... *goes to toilet*
FreakTrigger - May 16, 2007 05:12 AM (GMT)
I will confess that the Cherubs wee nasty freaks.
All that mist didn't help one bit when a legless bug-foetus is springing at you.

Albedo from Xenosaga. That one gives me a seriously uneasy stomach. Indestructible, insane, and ungodly powerful.
Anyone remember 'The Butcher' from Diablo? Scared the everliving crap out of me the first time I stumbled upon him.
For real creep factor check out The Many' from System Shock 2. Madly back pedaling with a shotgun should not be the main strategy.

Eddie from the "Who Wants to Be A Millionaire" game, or does that techniquely not count?
Drake - May 16, 2007 06:30 AM (GMT)
Eddie is a regular bogyman, of course he counts!
Andy - May 16, 2007 06:34 AM (GMT)
I was going to mention the aliens from a little known C64 game, Project Firestart, which scared the living crap outta me - but the floating head of Eddie Maguire trumps all.
EDIT: they were genetically engineered mutants... not aliens. They say the memory is the first thing to go...
DZ - May 16, 2007 07:41 AM (GMT)
You freak me out if you bought that game! :P
Ninja Catfish - May 16, 2007 09:11 AM (GMT)
Nobody has yet mentioned Res Evil?!
In recent times, the Regenerators from the later stages of RE4 gave me the chills.
There's on particular section ina prison like area, dead quiet. And you can hear it's stilted, un-natural breathing around the corner.
Ugh...
And a bit further back, Lisa Trevors. A child who missed her mother so much that she sliced off her mother's face and sew it to her own face. Not to mention she had chains from her mutated arms that slid on the ground as a sign that she was nearby.
Just the thought of knowing she was somewhere out there was enough to make me think twice about going out in to the outdoors residence area of REmake D:
