Title: Fat/Skinny People. The Ultimate Discussion.

Random Hero - May 1, 2007 07:05 AM (GMT)
This is not a thread about me liking fat people. This is not a thread about me liking skinny people.

If you're in here to pick sides, die, a lot.

I realise this is probably been a thread about fat/skinny people being attractive, but I can't take this bull shit anymore. Both sides of the scale can be attractive, heaps of people need to learn that.

I myself like hip bones and thin legs, but then again, I can dig wide hips and a nice round butt. Both fat and skinny people can be beautiful. The problem with the people who talk about hating one side or the other, is that most likely the people starting these conversations are insecure about their weight, so they need to cut down people to feel better.

They take the WORST CASE scenario to prove their point? That makes the opinion completely opinionated and you no longer have any real argument, but just people looking at how disgusting one side of the scale can be.

Listen, beauty is in the eye of the beholder, if someone has found a certain type of person sexy or beautiful, then your opinions are completely full of shit, because there's no real "who's beautiful who's not".

Some people dig skinny chicks, some people dig fat chicks. Some people also dig hairy women, and women who fart and burp as loud as they can.

There is no definition of beauty, anyone can be beautiful to someone.

Different strokes for different folks.

Nice rant.

Thank you. :)

Yeah I like healthy people. If they are unhealthily skinny or fat, I'm not attracted, and it's more than just their appearance, but as somebody who puts some degree of effort into being healthy, I guess I find it harder to relate to people who don't care about their health, and certainly have a dislike for anybody who gives the "I don't have time" excuse, because I think people can always make priorities about what's important to them.

That's a very good way of looking at it beasty boy, though I reckon that you can also have "normal" unhealthy folk as well. You know, they aren't obese or have an eating disorder anything, but they happen to have a great metabolism, and don't do any excercise or eat well.
Would you find them "unattractive" as well?

Not that I have anything against that(I think it's a great moral stance to take), I'm just curious.

Inquisitor - May 1, 2007 08:20 AM (GMT)
I generally agree, however I won't deny the fact that this whole skinny trend is absolutely disgusting. Can't stand it.

That's me right there. I do a small amount of exercise but not much. I also eat some healthy food but again not much.

Yeah that fat chick is a photoshop job though so it doesn't really count. :P

Resident-Seven - May 1, 2007 09:19 AM (GMT)
I also agree.

I'm not sure (in fact I doubt) if it would be the same for straight guys and the women they like, but I've always preferred guys with a bit more meat on them, I can't stand skinny people, they just don't do anything for me.

That's not to say there is no upper limit, because there is.

Beast - May 1, 2007 10:26 AM (GMT)
Well I guess if we're talking about appearance, it really only depends if they look healthy or not. If I meet somebody and am attracted to them, partly because they look healthy, and then it turns out they're not healthy at all, it might bother me, but it wouldn't be a reason to dump them.

D43M0N - May 1, 2007 10:28 AM (GMT)
There's a limit; people have to remember that being more than just a bit overweight is detrimental to their health; it puts strain on the heart, not to mention the general skeleton and muscles. Having a bit of fat is fine, but too much IS bad. It may not make you look less attractive in a persons view, but it IS bad for you.

Stevorooni - May 1, 2007 12:12 PM (GMT)
Sara Rue from the TV show 'Less than Perfect' (It has Andy Dick in it) has always been in the "Yeah I'd date her if I had the opportunity" category. I think she's really cute.

Then she lost a crapload of weight and it was like "HOLY SWEET MOTHER OF GOD SHE'S HOT"

Observe,

user posted image

So yeah, people who are overweight can still be attractive, but any sort of self improvement can up the attraction substantially.

So yeah, like whoever you want and who gives a shit what anyone else thinks.

DZ - May 1, 2007 09:47 PM (GMT)
I used to be too skinny, after a year at the gym I'm now the sex!

Angra - May 2, 2007 12:25 AM (GMT)
I'm so happy with my figure. I'm skinny and healthy. I actually love my body - some days I wake up like every other girl and get self-concious, but for the most part I'm really happy with myself.

In women, I'm a sucker for thunder thighs. Seriously - that's so hot.

Robert - May 2, 2007 03:16 AM (GMT)
Even though working out sucks the big one, you do feel better afterward. Push ups are literally hell on earth but you know they are doing good things for your body. I can do like 45 now, right down and chest touching the ground. :D Nothing worse than somebody not looking after themselves, its a turn off.

Decman - May 2, 2007 07:29 PM (GMT)
I've started to take an extra interest in getting completely muscular. I lift weights, do press-ups, row (on a machine, unfortunately) and jog occasionally. I also walk alot. I do actually feel better, especially since my biceps are...changing.

Plus, I do actually need to be pretty ripped for the summer, because I'm going to be in an amateur film, and Crusaders can't not be made of steel. :P

As for fat vs. skinny....wellll, actually, I prefer girls who are curvacious. That shutterstock.com girl you have up there...well, I wouldn't say 'no' to her, but if she was a tiny bit wider, then absofuckolutely. :D

And Hero, there is no way that the second 'fat' girl you have posted is actually fat. Voluptuous is more like it.

Angra - May 3, 2007 12:34 AM (GMT)
Gentlemen, meet Aspen.

Image NSFW due to side-boob

You can't tell me you don't love that woman already. She's curvaceous and fracking beautiful, and loves video games.

Anyway, I normally actually find myself creeped out by men with a lot of muscle. I'm a sucker for tall skinny guys - skinny but with definition. And "tall" just means "over 5'3" because that's my height".

FreakTrigger - May 3, 2007 01:06 AM (GMT)
She does certainly have a definite charm...

Diet is critical for putting on muscle. You can't do it without eating the right food; ie. lots of protein, but also vegetables and carbs are important too.

If you don't eat a good diet and still work out, you won't put on muscle and you'll be sore too!

Probably because she's a Suicide Girl. One of my favorites, actually.

But I will restate: men with a lot of muscle freak me the frack out. Two of the only exceptions I have made are Gerard Butler (Leonidas) and Peter Steele (lead singer/bassist of Type O Negative).

Beast: Lol, cheers dude, I know what not to eat, don't worry. Two years of biology pays off. Surprisingly, lipids (fats) are also extremely important. If you don't get enough, deficiency diseases start heading in your direction. Oils in particular are very important. Oh, and water. Lots of water. :D

How can you not love Ronnie Coleman?

For me when someone is overly skinny or fat they're both ugly. Need to be of average size. So a bit larger or a bit smaller is ok.

Personally I've started doing excersize again, I used to be super fit while at school, in the gym or training for sport every day of the week, then dropped off when I went to uni. Put on ALOT of weight, I was 92kgs, 180cm, while in Italy for 4 months, lost weight while in London and now I'm back home I want to get fit again.
I've been doing weights and cardio most days.

Just on the JQ, having a great metabolism means you'd be more likely to be skinny rather than fat.

I eat a lot of crap, don't do much exercise and am still 10kg underweight. I think my metabolism is crazy.

Drew Barrymore is a good example I'd say.

I've always thought of Myf Warhurst from ABC's 'Spicks & Specks' and 'Triple J' as an attractive "fat" person. Her weight seems to vary though between slightly overweight and normal.
