Title: The GREAT Pile of Games you are Yet to Finish
Description: CHALLENGE: Get to work slackers!

Stevorooni - April 29, 2007 08:30 AM (GMT)
I am horrible at completing games. When I was a kid and the folks were buying me 1 or 2 games a year, I wouldn't stop playing them until I had found every last little secret and the game was begging me to stop so it could rest.

These days working full time I'm able to pick up games pretty much whenever I want, but a side effect is that I never get around to completing all of them!

Here is a list of games on my shelf that I haven't even seen an ending sequence for:

PS2
Sonic Gems - Sonic CD
Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance
Resident Evil: Code Veronica X

GCN
Resident Evil 0 - COMPLETED!
Ultimate Spiderman
Metroid Prime
Paper Mario
Star Wars Rogue Leader
Star Wars Rebel Strike
Star Fox Adventures

Wii
Red Steel

DS
Yoshi's Island DS
Metroid Prime Hunters

PSP
Daxter

That's just the current crop of consoles! There's probably a bunch of retro stuff I have t get through too! I'm not counting games like GTA where I've finished the missions but haven't done everything 100%. If I've seen an ending sequence, I consider it 'completed'

So is anyone else like me? Do you have a great "pile'o-games" to get through?
Post your lists and show everyone else how lazy you are.

I'm planning on sitting on the couch with the laptop tuned into gamefaqs, and I'm gonna GET THROUGH THAT LIST.
Any recommendations as to which games will be easiest to knock off?

EDIT: The results of 'eeny meeny miney moe' have made Resident Evil 0 the first game off the bat!

/backslash - April 29, 2007 09:19 AM (GMT)
Here's some of mine

DS:
- Osu Ouendan
- Trauma Center: Under the Knife
- Meteos

PC:
Full Throttle
The Dig
Final Fantasy 8

PS2:
FFX-2
FFXIII (ended up selling it)
Shadow of the Colossus
Burnout Revenge
Burnout Takedown
Resident Evil 4
GTA:LCS

Wii:
Zelda Twilight Princess

It may seem small but there's a whole showcase of games I sold without completing them

borgster101 - April 29, 2007 10:58 AM (GMT)
I pretty much finish the games I buy, but I usually am playing no more than 2-3 at a time so it works out :) I havent finished some VC games, but thats mainly because they're b!tch hard! :P

It's pretty common though, as the older you get, the less often you finish the game because the less time you have to play them. I find the best way to get around this, is to try and play one game at a time, focus on it, finish it and move on to the next one, if you buy several things at once, you get "lost" and end up never getting around to playing the game again. Certain members come to mind ..... :whistling:

Decman - April 29, 2007 11:11 AM (GMT)
Xbox
- Shenmue II (not that I can finish it now, because it was stolen)
- Project Zero (too scared to play it!)

Wii
- Rayman: Raving Rabbids (I'm not bothered: it's terrible)

Xbox 360
- Gears of War (MUST...KILL...RAMM...)
- NFS: Carbon (I was very close to finishing it, but HEY someone stole it)

PC
- Black & White (nah...)
- Black & White 2 (gotten far enough, but I won't play it again until I upgrade my comp)
- Evil Genius (al...most...the...re..)
- Stronghold 2 (I would, but...meh)
- The Lord of the Rings: The Battle for Middle-Earth (I was at the freaking Black Gate but because of a corrupt save-file, it's back to the beginning for me)

I've got loads of other management/RTS games that I've never bothered to complete fully, because I'm more into sandbox play or my own custom scenarios. AoE2, Startopia, RCT3, Zoo Tycoon are a few examples.

If I still had my PS2 (I gave it to my brother), I'd have my work cut out.

As for what I'll try next...probably GoW...I need to kill Ramm!

Horrible.

NismoR34 - April 29, 2007 04:50 PM (GMT)
And you people get up me for not finishing Zelda! PFFFT! :P

DS:

Metroid Prime: Hunters - Couldn't get into this too much unfortunately, which is a shame given my love for Metroid as a franchise. It wasn't the game as such, but perhaps moreso my addiction to Animal Crossing.

Gamecube:

Harvest Moon: It's A Wonderful Life - I played a good portion of this but couldn't be bothered seeing my file through the 30 years or however much it was of in game time.

Ikaruga - Great game but far too hard for me.

Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess - I can't explain this one, I really can't. I want to finish it, but I just haven't yet for whatever reason.

Splinter Cell - Got around halfway before being distracted by other games.

PS2:

Auto Modellista - Only recently got it so yeah, that's why.

Burnout Dominator - again, recent purchase.

Devil May Cry 3 - Freakin' Vergil.

Disgaea: Hour Of Darkness - Haven't been bothered to dedicate the time to it yet, unfortunately. Played about 10 hours before stopping.

The Getaway: Black Monday - crap game.

Katamari Damacy - Can't play it due to it being an NTSC game and me having a PAL console. I will fix that one day, though.

Kingdom Hearts - Played about 6 hours and just couldn't get into it. I wanted too but yeah the start is extremely boring if you ask me...

Okami - Bit hard to finish this one when my girlfriend keeps stealing it for her benefit. ;) At a guess though I'd say I am halfway through.

Phantom Brave - See Disgaea.

Psychonauts - I can't explain this one either. I was really enjoying it when I was playing it and then all of a sudden, I stopped.

Xbox 360:

Oblivion - Have only just started this really, do plan on finishing it though as I want Shivering Isles.

Far Cry Instincts: Predator - Haven't even started it yet.

Rockstar's Table Tennis - I consider beating the All-Star Circuit 'finishing' this game and so far I have only beaten the Pro Circuit.

Ridge Racer 6 - recent purchase

Xbox:
Crimson Skies - Haven't touched it.

Jade Empire - Haven't dedicated the time to it to finish it yet.

Ninja Gaiden - Too damn hard for me.

Shenmue II - I'm pedantic and won't touch this until I finish watching the bonus DVD that comes with it (that has the story up until that point).

Resident-Seven - April 29, 2007 08:42 PM (GMT)
Xbox 360
Dead or Alive 4
Condemned - Finished
Star Trek: Legacy
Ridge Racer 6
Kameo: Elements of Power
Perfect Dark Zero
Gears of War

Wii
Twilight Princess
Red Steel
Excite Truck

DZ - April 29, 2007 08:47 PM (GMT)
Apart from the ones I own, I'd say ALL THE REST.

Angra - April 30, 2007 12:59 AM (GMT)
Xbox / Xbox 360
Prey - ...I GET SCARED OF THIS GAME, OKAY?!
Oblivion - ...ditto.
Morrowind - Can't be arsed.
Otogi - MOTHERFUCKING SOUL CALLER!!

PS2
PsychoNauts - Never got around to it.
Okami - Got bored and lost.
Bully - I got stuck on one really obnoxious level.
.hack//mutation - Have no idea what to do next.
Final Fantasy X - The one boss you fight in the air might be the most frustrating thing in the entire world. I threw the controller at the wall.
Final Fantasy X-2 - I'm actually at Vegnagun right now. Got too distracted by pretty costumes.
Final Fantasy XII - Never really started. Life got hectic after Christmas.
Dark Cloud - Stole this from a friend. Awesome. This game is a bit annoying though.
Ico - FUCKING HARD GAME.

Gamecube
The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker - I have a phobia of Zelda dungeons.
Harvest Moon: Another Wonderful Life - I'm working on now, I'm in the process of trying to marry the farmer guy with the black hair and massive eyebrows. SOUNDS FAMILIAR.

Borg's distraught over this. :P I've gotten much better at finishing games that I started, thankfully. However, I still have unfinished business just like everyone else.

Project Gotham 2/3 (Xbox). Put simply, I lack the skill to complete these games on platinum (hardest difficulty).

Vagrant Story (PS). Moved onto something else midway through and lost the motivation to get the ball rolling again. Unfortunate too because it's a fantastic game. Maybe some day.

Battletoads in Battlemaniacs (SNES). The speeder bike level will end you.

I know I've got more, I'll be back.

Borg's distraught over this. :P

So many good games, brilliant even, not finished by our userbase, so many awesome endings not experienced, it's a damn crime I say :crying:

With that said there are a few games I have that I have not finished, but those are older games, includes Shadowman on N64 among a couple more I can't remember.

Though if you were to consider completion 100% as "finished", then there are many games that would fall under this category for me, for example didnt finish Ninja Gaiden on Very Hard, though did on Hard :P or didnt finish Viewtiful Joe on the harder settings, but did on the normal settings.

StueyRowls - April 30, 2007 04:08 AM (GMT)
Alrighty, here we go. This is what I want to finish, as there are some games I know I'll never complete or don't want to finish :P

[360]

Crackdown- Only 4 achievements to go.....until the new DLC is out
Lego Star Wars 2- Trying to beat all levels undefeated
Marvel: Ultimate Alliance- Finish the game on Hard
Prey- Just a couple of levels to go
PGR3- Just about have all Platinums...stupid cone challenges
Test Drive Unlimited- Finish all the events, already about 8\10ths the way through
Viva Pinata- Get all the achievements

[Wii]

Zelda:TP- As there isn't much coming out on the Wii for a while, I'm taking my time with this

[PSP]

Tales of Eternia- Just about there

GTA:Vice City Stories- Didn't really grab me like previous GTA's, but I will finish the story at least

I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought so. I played it on Gameboy... flippin impossible.

Edit: Hang on, apparently the GB version is a port of the NES one. Still has a bike level, and it's ridiculously hard.

_MetalliX_ - April 30, 2007 07:21 AM (GMT)
Xbox 360

Project Gotham Racing 3 - Who am I kidding... I'm not going to finish this.
Kameo - Just about finished it, but I got over it pretty quick.
Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter - I find it more of a chore rather than a joy to play.
Perfect Dark Zero - Don't know why I bought this.

PC
Doom 3 - Too scary, not gonna happen.

Qubert - April 30, 2007 12:54 PM (GMT)
Okami: I'm just got through with the Imperial city. I think the game is longer than it needs to be.

Red Steel: I actually kind of like this one and think people can be overly harsh on it (although I do understand the criticisms). I would like to finish it someday.

Final Fantasy VI: Just couldn't take it. Too many random battles.

Baldur’s Gate- I hate these type of RPG's, thank god it's Linear then most D&D RPG's.

Final Fantasy XII - My least favorite Fantasy since V. Sorry folks, the story and characters are just really weak and incredibly underdeveloped. The newly revamped battle system can't carry the game alone. I also stopped at the Tomb of Raithwall. Seems like a lot of people abandon the game at this part!

Scarface: The World is Yours (not very far into it, just got bored)

NismoR34 - April 30, 2007 04:38 PM (GMT)
I was thinking, maybe we should all start to work on getting these lists smaller and obviously posting about it as we go along? Could prove for some interesting conversation but it's just a thought.

An ironic one too considering my Twilight Princess thing, but yeah. In a way though you could say that I've already 'started' working on getting the list smaller since I'll have Ridge Racer 6 finished soon. ;)

GTFO. :P

Prey is scary because it's as bland as a documentary on the Swedish paper-clip industry and the guns have about as much firepower as the South Sandwich Islands special forces. I love the story; a Cherokee Indian who doesn't believe in his heritage, but when he dies and gets transported to the 'spirit-world' and talks to his dead grandad face to face, says: "Grandfather, you know I don't believe in this shit." L.O.L. But yeah, it can be pretty creepy. Especially those possessed children. :ph43r: If you ever get stuck, just askkkkkk...

FOR SHAME, PLAY MORE OBLIVION! If it's the zombies that freak you out, just laugh at their funny groaning, mock their inherent inability to walk properly and prop them up in embarrassing positions once you've given them several deep lacerations with your glass-claymore! :P

And Morr---...you haven't been playing Morrowind...? I mean...I...GTFO.
Get it on the PC, purely for the mods. :D

I'm up to the second disc in RE0 now. I think I'm up to the point I was when I gave up on it last time

Cubeoid - May 1, 2007 08:18 AM (GMT)
Xbox 360
Dead or Alive 4

Xbox
Deus Ex: Invisible War
Panzer Dragoon Orta
Serious Sam 2
Ninja Gaiden (I came back to this one but this stupid pink flying bitch keeps killing me)

Gamecube
F-Zero GX

PC
Deus Ex (I KNOW, I KNOW!)
Thief 3: Deadly Shadows
Morrowind (I haven't finished the main story but I've still played the crap out of this game)
GTA 3 (This one's a technicality. Some stupid cheat that I put in can't be turned off as I must have saved after turing it on for some reason. Anyway everytime I go to play the last mission that chick gets shot because the cheat causes everyone to go crazy. I've still seen the ending played by my friend so meh.)

Stevorooni - May 1, 2007 11:57 AM (GMT)
Well the ending credits for Resident Evil 0 are rolling as I type! :P

Not a bad game, I have a good feeling about that old mansion Rebecca is heading for now, should be a relaxing break for her...

Next game to get through: Ultimate Spiderman

borgster101 - May 1, 2007 12:25 PM (GMT)
Nice job in finishing RE0 Stevo :D

ElPresidente - May 1, 2007 03:40 PM (GMT)
Halo 2 to my eternal shame but I'm reviewing the PC version for Vista in the next week or so. I plan on doing the whole start to finish thing right then and there... either on the PC (assuming the port goes infinately better than Gearbox's cock up with Halo) or failing that going back to the Xbox version which is still sitting in my library.

Must finish it before my 'version' of Halo 3 arrives. :P

Resident-Seven - May 2, 2007 05:36 AM (GMT)
yay, just finishjed Condemned, so I can get it off the list.

DJ-Civic - May 2, 2007 08:40 AM (GMT)
Nismo don't forget about Killer 7 on the GameCube. ;)

On Xbox 360;

Rainbow 6 Vegas on Realistic. I have finished the game on normal and realistic, but you don't get the achievement on realistic if you've previously finished it on normal. You have to delete your save file from the HDD or play on realistic from the get-go. <_<

Splinter Cell Double Agent - I'm playin it slowly so it'll get done eventually.

Dead Rising - I've gotten to a point where the game won't let me go further so I need to restart. Fuck that!

Test Drive Unlimited - can't be arsed. :P

On Xbox;

Full Spectrum Warrior Ten Hammers - can't play it after GRAW2.

Jet Set Radio Future - dunno why.

Ninja Gaiden - couldn't get into it.

Rallisport Challenge 2 - got bored of it.

On PS2;

Okami - impulse purchase.

DMC3 - I don't have any hair left. :P

Ico - have finished it but i've got my own copy now.

On PC;

NFS Most Wanted - PC fucked up
Far Cry - PC fucked up
Brothers in Arms Earned in Blood - PC fucked up

borgster101 - May 2, 2007 10:51 AM (GMT)
That's stupid?

LOL, Dead Rising is weird, you have to play through the "3 days" several times before you'll be ready to go for the true ending, the weird thing is that you keep all your stats when you restart the cycle, so it requires a bit of paitence to get into things properly.

Might as well play it with a guide to finish it properly.

Well I'm home sick today staring these games in the face. I just knocked off Otogi, however mind-numbing it got. Now that my hack-and-slash needs have been fulfilled, I think I'm going to make that sonofabitch marry me in Harvest Moon.

Still it is ridiculous I know, so I'm working on them now.

I doubt I'll ever beat them all, but there is the summer, maybe i'll focus on one game til I beat it, instead of sampling like I normally do.
