Title: Drive
_MetalliX_ - April 14, 2007 08:44 AM (GMT)

The latest serial to come out of FOX is Drive which will premiere Sunday 15th April in the US. Starring Nathan Fillion of Firefly/Serenity fame, it is centralized around a race which follows the lives of a group of Americans racing each other in a sinister and possibly mortal cross-country race. Each has a special reason to compete - and each must win. Among the racers are two brothers in a stolen, pimped-out Cadillac that carries secrets of its own, a man trying to find his missing wife, a scientist and his teenage daughter, and others. No one knows who they're racing or where the finish line is, so anything is possible.
So far only 13 episodes have been ordered, (similar to how Prison Break began) although rest assured if the show becomes a hit, more episodes will follow.
From initial impressions, the show looks like one big American car-chase sequence. I also wonder where they will source some sort of epic storyline from.

Could be interesting to see what happens, although with a story line that is unknown at the moment, I would hope they go with a supernatural theme as it could provide entertainment that hasn't really been shown on TV before, however I would consider this unlikely.

I watched the first episode and it was alright. It seemed a tiny bit too similar to almost all tv shows these days though. The various characters, the secret hidden organisation running it etc. But it did have fast cars, which I love. So it's not all bad. :D

The first two episodes despite the initial corny factor at first, are quite good imo.
Nathan Fillion is brilliant as usual, and some of the other characters look quite interesting indeed. And of course Tim Minear (If you don't know who he is/what shows he's been involved, bg2u :P) co-created the series, so i can't see how this can go wrong. Hopefully the ratings are good enough to see out the entire 13 episode run, perhaps even beyond but i can't see the central plot going for too long.

pretty good start, looks like all the characters will be getting some screen time, previews looks like itll get more interesting, Emma Stone is smoking hot, and Capt. Mal is in it!

Will be watching it if/when it aires on Aussie TV for sure. Don't think I need to explain why, either. ;)

The show has been canned after 2 weeks, FOX are unsure whether they will distribute the remaining 9 unaired episodes.
I kind of figured since the storyline was so unbelievable. I mean what kind of tycoon would want to spend so much money just to see some people race around the country, a bet? Oh well... RIP.

The BEST ever comment I have read!
"Why the hell do people want to watch a bunch of d-list semi-celebrities ballroom dance? the fact that dancing with the stars is successful is what convinces me that the entire population should be forced to wear helmets and drool-cups and be enrolled in special-ed classes."
What a sum up of everything that is wrong with the American TV Industry. FOX doesn't give shows good chances.. of course a show wont have high ratings on its first nights!!

It's funny because Arrested Development also lost out to Dancing with the Stars.
Opening night ratings are all to do with marketing, something FOX can;t get right.

If fox doesn't show the last two episodes of Drive tomorrow in the US I'm gonna start letter bombing them.
Seriously, are they deliberately trying to piss off everyone, except House viewers (the only non-canceled show that doesn't suck)?
