March 29, 2007 It seems that finally Mario and Sonic will be featured in the same game, but no it's not Super Smash Bros Brawl (at least not yet) but instead Mario and Soinc Olympics .. What? :o The game will be released on the Wii and DS and will be based on the upcoming Beijing 2008 Olympics. The title is set to release by the end of 2007.

The game will be developed by SEGA Japan and suprvised by Shigeru Miyamoto, the title will be published by Sega in the US. In the game players will compete in various Olympics events with all your favourite characters from both the Mario and Sonic universe including including Luigi, Knuckles, Yoshi, and Tails, with more characters to be announced later.

The game has been described to be like Wii Sports but with Mario and Sonic characters and environments, and of course events based on the Olympic games. It appears that the game will most likely feature online gameplay on both the Wii and DS versions of the game.

Clearly Sonic has a huge advantage in any type of running event, it is unknown how exactly Mario would be able to compete against Sonic in a fair competiton of this nature, more as it develops. :P

Finally it would seem that given this announcement, it's almost a certainty that Sonic will make an apperance in the upcoming Wii title Super Smash Brawl as well, when asked about this Sega declined to comment.
