Title: Devil May Cry 4 no longer a PS3 exclusive
Machiavelli - March 20, 2007 08:29 AM (GMT)
March 19, 2007 - When Microsoft's Shane Kim told 1UP that certain titles we perceive to be PlayStation 3 exclusives weren't so locked up, we figured that he was talking about the Assassin's Creed or Mercenaries debacle. What Nostradamus here was hinting at was probably this: Devil May Cry 4 will be released simultaneously for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC.
Capcom announced this news in both a late night press release and on their Japanese website as well. Like every good multi-format press release, it goes on to say that each version of the game will take advantage of the specific strengths of each platform. Well, thank god!
Now that Devil May Cry 4 has been announced for all the next generation consoles, we wait for the other foot to drop. While Capcom has gotten pretty cozy with Microsoft, we're interested in seeing just how long Dead Rising and Lost Planet remain Xbox 360 properties.

I'm not surprised, I don't think it'll be long before the only exclusives on those 2 consoles are the ones made by the people that make the actual console.

It's not suprising considiring the development costs for next gen games, obviously you'd want to sell to as many consumers as you can. It's also good news for me, since thats another reason not to worry about a PS3 :P

Holy shit if sony lose any more exclusives it's curtains for them me thinks. Can't say i'm too upset over it either. :P MGS for 360!!11!111 :D

Metal Gear Solid 4 isn't a 1st party title :P

Oops sorry about that, its 3rd party, just that I'm used to saying its "sony" exclusive all the time. Well, hopefully they bring the awesome God of War onto PS3.

I've played DMC since it's debut on the PS2 and instantly loved that game. I loved Dante's cocky attitude and the sweet moves you could pull off. I won't mention 2 because I don't want to embarrass Capcom, but 3.....oh man, they did everything RIGHT!!! Although, I preferred the castle setting over that giant tower. I can't wait for 4. Havent decided on either ps3 or 360 so this is great. :D

Well here's another new twist in the whole "Sony losing exclusives" saga;
FFXIII going multiplatform?| QUOTE |
Yet another game going multiplatform? Sony Computer Entertainment France President, Georges Fornay, revealed in Frenchnewspaper, Les Dernières Nouvelles d'Alsace, that Final Fantasy XIII's exclusivity is in doubt.
"The development costs of games have exploded, and it has become more difficult to have exclusives, outside of our own games. But we have for launch day 30 games, including MotorStorm, Resistance: Fall of Man, and Virtua Fighter 5. Moreover, we are expecting 200 games by the end of 2007...As far as Final Fantasy XIII goes, I can tell you that the exclusivity is in discussion." stated Fornay.
It's certainly a bizarre statement for Sony Computer Entertainment France's President to make, but with Devil May Cry 4, Ace Combat 6 and Saint's Row recently becoming multiplatform, it seems more and more likely this console generation battle is going to be decided by first party exclusives. |

^ I thought AC6 was 360 exclusive now? I think 3rd party game shouldn't really be exclusive coa they're made by independent companies that need to sell games to be successful. 1st party devs don't really need to worry about this cos they're actually working inside Sony/MS/Ninty so their games can remain exclusive to their respective consoles. And that doesn't bother me cos I don't think I wanna see Mario on my PS, it'll ruin the feel I get when playing it on Ninty hardware etc...
NismoR34 - March 25, 2007 03:51 PM (GMT)
^ Yeah but the 'exclusives' that people associate with Nintendo, generally are made by Nintendo. That wasn't necessarily the case with the PS2 or Xbox (and now the PS3/Xbox 360) and as such, the 'names' that people associate with those consoles can be third-party. Meaning that when they suddenly become multiplatform games, it can be a big loss to those who aren't as aware of these things as we are.
As for DMC 4 coming to the 360, suits me perfectly because it means I will be able to play the game on launch (or thereabouts) and won't have to have the PS3 to do so. It also gives me more 'room' to make my PS3 purchase with, so yeah I'm happy with that. :)

Wow. I'm not taking this with a grain of salt either, Square Enix is already putting Revenant Wings and DQ 9 on the DS and not the PS3 or the PSP. That tells me they're is interested in consoles that are selling. Business 101.
NismoR34 - March 26, 2007 03:24 PM (GMT)
SquareEnix (or rather, Enix) have always said that Dragon Quest would always be on the highest selling console. Since the DS is that platform at the moment, that is why DQ9 is going to it.

Dead Rising and Lost Planet to remain exclusiveI cannot believe an online petition was started, the extent of fanboyism truly knows no bounds. Hysterical.
borgster101 - March 27, 2007 10:34 AM (GMT)
Speaking of that fanboy petitions. Here it is:
Sony fanboys petitionHonestly, what difference does it make to PS3 owners, its not like it was cancelled and coming only to 360? Fanboys are so stupid
What's even more stupid and funny is that Capcom actually responded, perhaps due to 9,000 plus signatures? Though many of them contain comments like "Sony fanboys are stupid LOLZ, PS3 is shit" so they aren't exactly contributing to the cause :P
Anyway, Capcom's responce:

We are certainly moved that people are so passionate about our products that they would go to such extremes.
At the same time we feel that allowing more people access to our content pleases far more people than it displeases (after all, we're not denying DMC4 to anyone that was already going to get it). It really is the best decision for the company and for consumers. |
In other words, shut the f**k up idiots, we are a business and we are here to make money. Dont make us cancel the PS3 version instead :P
