Like Call of Duty 3, Frontlines' online ranking system isn't persistent. Leave the server and you're back to square one. Considering how popular ranking is in Battlefield, it's a surprising design decision, but one that Frank is quick to justify. "It is a nice feature of Battlefield, but it really hurts the mod community, and it hurts the clan community." Judging by the struggling popularity of high quality BF2 mods due to the phenomenon of rank-whores, he's got a point. He continued "We also felt that with the speed of our game and our role system, we didn't need to make it persistent."

It's also coming out on the Xbox 360 and Lamestation 3, but if you've got a PC that can run it, you'd be silly not to get the PC version. ;)

Why is there is barely any online coverage of this game, I guess i'm not looking hard enough? :o Sounds incredible from what i've read so far, which is very little. Apparently each single player objective is in a sand box, and no two times will the objective play the same, because the AI will respond differently, even if you attempt the same tactics. Definitely one to keep an eye on.

By the way, screw the PC version. :P

Yeah, I only found out about this after a colleage of mine told me bout it the other day! I hope it gets more press closer to release, it'd be shit if it came out and no-one played it! :(

Fine then, waste your moneys on the inferior, mod free, console versions. :P

Speaking of mods, keep a look out for mods for this game. >_>

This game looks SLOPPY and rather horrible, Now don't say "but it's no where near finished," etc. UT3 has had previews since 2004/2005, and even then it looked good. This game looks like it was created by some outsourced group in some thirdworld country to save a buck or two.

Harsh words? Yes I suppose, but this game is going to be in the BARGAIN bin in 6 months. :P

^Considering the early releases of Desert Combat, that's not surprisingly; however, after a few patches (the same for BF2, as well) the game rocketed along. Hopefully this is the same.

Why do war games always miss things like gurellas (sp?). They could serve as the team that doesnt want neither of the two main teams to conquer the land, and their job is to try to take over the two main team's main stronghold. This would help eliminate spawn camping a little bit because the team would also have to worry about the gurellas and at the same time take over points on the map.

Also they never have civilians and in the towns or anything. Just empty towns waiting to be taken over. It would add to the experience a lot, and would also stop people from being so trigger happy all of the time.

I think the main issue with civilians would be AI, as it's still pretty shit these days.
But I do like that idea. :D

I want Western Coalition or Red Star Alliance. I'm tired of having to be the U.S for every game lol...they get boring after a while and they're not angels like how they're portrayed in games.

They've shot themselves in the foot releasing the 360 demo. Why the hell did they release a demo of a pre-beta build? How many gamers do you think will try the demo and not know it's a pre-beta build, then write it off as crap even before the game is out? I'm betting quite a lot. I was ready to myself. :(
