Title: 3 different subsections for the three new consoles
Shiyu - February 25, 2007 05:08 PM (GMT)
There should be three subsections named PS3, Wii, and Xbox 360 in the console section.
I wanna suggest this cuz it just seems all gathered together in one forum, but are talking about totally different things. They are totally different consoles from different companies and have different games.
The same could be done with the Handheld forum.

This point has come up before, many times in fact.
I believe the reason is that whoever placed them that way did so because they wanted to make sure eveerything the main page wasn't overloaded with subforums (that isn't too hard if you think about it).
Plus most games are muitl-platform nowdays. Take a game like Tim McGee and His Wand of Mighty Power which was to come out on the PC, PS2, PS3, XBox, 360, Wii, GBA, and DS. Now it is the same game (with minor changes between each version), yet there could be upwards of 8 threads all over the place for the same game.
So it is better to have one place for things like that, then fill new forums with more or less the same stuff.

In the past we had separate forums for each console but due to a lack of activity in certain sections as opposed to others it was decided to have it all in one large forum, this has worked well thus far. It would only change back to the old way if the Console Central forum became too active, that it made it difficult to find certain threads.

Id like it seperate too. I think I would create more specific game threads if it were seperated.

I think the best bet would be to separate the forums once the gaming forum as it is now becomes active enough to the point where we have threads with new posts in them on the second page.
Once that happens then clearly there's enough discussion (or spam) going on that yeah, it would be easier if we had the separate forums. For now though I think it works how it is, especially when our discussion 'rates' are inconsistant. (in the sense that on some weeks we'll have heaps of discussion and in other weeks we'll have a small amount of discussion)

another reason they probably don't have it is because of subforum creation.
To look at mine for example (www.GameFanatic.org/forums)
You notice that I've got probably 4x subforums stacked. This keeps my games organized. I haven't added Main Subforums for like RTS, but that's because I like to stick to the main games. Other places can be posted.
The thing with InvisionFree forums is, that you can only go like 2x subforums stacked? Or is it 1x? I don't remember... been a long time since I had an IF forum.
They could go through the extra work to and add HTML to the main forums... means less clicking.

Once the conversion to Zetaboards is complete we'll definitely look into creating sub-forums and dividing Console Central up again. :)

I personally don't think you should...Console Central is way too cozy.

I agree, it's not like the current Console section is overloaded or anything.
