Title: Build My PC

Here's the deal. I am buying myself a computer for a grand total of $1,000.

Now seeing as how when it comes to hardware I have no clue, you all need to build it for me.

You are working with a budget of $930 because thanks to imek I already have my processor, a Pentium 4 560J. So work the system around it. Now I need everything else to build my tower (not including monitor/peripherals). The computer will mainly be used for watching videos and web/graphics design so I need large storage space (ideally 250-500GB) and a decent graphics card with at least 1GB RAM. I also need a case, and seeing as how it will be in my room it needs to be quiet and have NO lights or windows.

Thanks! :D

Okay, first off you should get a case with a huge window and chuck in a 100watt globe in there :P

Seriously, here's the real deal:

=================
STUFF I'M NOT SURE OF
=================

Motherboard:
ABIT AB9 Motherboard i965 - $220
Besides being compatible with the Pentium 4 series chips, it's also compatible with the Core 2 Duo processors if you ever decide to upgrade it. Feel free for anyone else to point out a better model but I've heard this one's pretty good and it's got Intel® Quiet System Technology (Intel® QST)

3D card:
GeForce FX 6600 256MB - $212
A semi-powerful 3D card. It can do a bit of gaming and photoshop programs.

==============
STUFF I'M SURE OF
==============

Ram:
Corsair 1GB TWINX-3200C2, CAS2 DDR RAM - $199

Storage:
Seagate 320GB SATAII HDD - $139

Sound:
Creative Audigy - $55

DVD burner:
Pioneer DVD burner - $45

Case:
Antec Sonata II (with PSU) - $175.
Good for the quiet person

---------------

TOTAL $1045

Okay, now despite the cost it can be adjusted. If there's someone who has better knowledge on compatibility with motherboards and 3D cards you could knock off around $100 I think. Everything else listed though is pretty essential

- 256MB Graphics Card (Don't remember which, but its ATI Radeon)
- 2x320GB HDD RAID
- 16x DVD Burner
- DVD ROM
- Universal Card Reader
- 22" Widescreen Monitor

For a grand total of: $1500

So I spent an hour of my evening doing up all those prices for NOTHING?! :P You owe me big time mister! Haven't got another spare Pentium 4 560J have you? Mine's only a P4 2.8

Nice deal on the stuff but I'd be a bit worried if I were you since you didn't post any brand names/specifications, things like monitors and ram. What sort of case are you getting?

Basically all 22" LCDs are the same panel, so they're of the same quality, with the only difference being build quality.

Don't have any other CPUs sorry :)

You must be getting a cheapo monitor, how much and what brand if you don't mind me asking?
