Title: A Cure for Cancer is on its way!

News Article

Its called dichloroacetate and it kills cancer cells and not normal cells. :o This is epic news, Although the US government has probably had the cure for years.

Yeah I read about this on another forum. There's some massive in-depth reason though as to why cancer will never be cured.

Cancer can never actually be stopped. Every day, at least one cell in our body turns cancerous but our lymphatic system makes sure that the cell is recycled and never does the body any harm. Well, most of the time...if the lymph does not do away with it, you end up with that accursed disease.

Not that the drug won't help; for people with cancer, it'll be a godsend. But there will never be a way to stop it from ever reappearing again, as the disease is not a bacterium or a virus: it's simply a cytological mutation, and until we find out how to stop that (the human genome project should help, as well as stem cell research) then we're stuck with it.

One day, one day. But this is still fantastic news. :D Huzzah for science!

Well mose diseases never really go away, but you just don't hear of em since we've developed effective treatment for them.

I know that most diseases don't go away, but all I'm saying is that cancer is not a disease in the way that the common cold, the flu, HIV or rabies are. Those are bacteria/virus based and can be stopped or at the very least controlled, but cancer occurs from totally random cell mutations (unless influenced by third-party chemicals) and the actual process of the cells turning cancerous can only be ceased when we know more about cells and human genetics.

But like I said, for people who suffer from the disease itself, it's truly amazing news, and it's that breakthrough we've all wanted for years and years. Of course, it probably won't be on the 'shelf' so to speak until 2008. At least, that's my guess.

And I heard that this cure only asssists the system. I does not cure the actual cancer but it helps the body 'throw away' the cancerous cells.

That's crazy... althought it wouldn't completly cure it as most of you are saying, it is still awesome news... Especially that it should be cheaper. I mean, something like that is almost unheard of..
