Title: Japan: Wii don't think Zelda is all that

Japan: Wii don't think Zelda is all that.

By far the top Wii title pretty much any where but Japan.
Is it even in 4th place for Wii games in Japan? I think Wario surpassed it.

With all the RPG Action Adventure love the JP give, you'd think it wouldn't be behind Wii Sports, Wii Play, and Wario.

Not necessarily. Yes Japanese gamers do love their RPGs and Adventure titles, but with their (generally) hectic schedules you can understand that they would much prefer to play something simple, easy to get into and something that will entertain them instantly with little or no effort involved. Seeing Wii Sports, Wii Play, Wario or any other game that is easy to get into ahead of Zelda does not surprise me whatsoever.

There's also the whole thing about the Wii being for everyone rather than gamers as we knew them in the past...

yeah but they all cream their jeans over final fantasy which is 60 hours long? I guess the japanese love micro/mini-game packs a little to much?

The non game is the new craze in Japan, the Brain games have sold extremely well in Japan, it's no suprise that similar non games in the "Wii" series sell just as well, just goes to show you Nintendo knew what it was doing in not providing Wii Sports as a pack in with the console in Japan, it was number 1 anyway :P

As for Zelda, it's just as popular as it always was in Japan, TP was also more geared towards the western market as well.

Japanese are weird when it comes to some games... Zelda should be beating everything but i guess they prefer those non-game games.

The game is still a classic. I play it even if others think its lame etc, their loss.

So a game sells to more than 1/4 of the user base in Japan is a disappointment... Damn, all those PS2 games that have sold less then 3 million must be really bad... shame on Japan.

Just give it time, the game came out for launch and is likely to have a prolonged life, with good sales overall.

Exactly :)

Japan doesnt hate Zelda at all, the sales of TP are in line with the series, and since its a launch title you have that userbase starting from zero ;)
