I don't think it's so much pushing up daisies, but burning flowers of some kind that smell of something really bad.

I'm going to reiterate my sentiments from others boards where I have stated my opinion: if there is a god, I hope s/he takes mercy on the soldiers out there tonight, because civil war is a certainty.

Most sources say he isn't dead yet. I'm not trying to be sadistic, but I will watch this guy's execution.

Squato - December 30, 2006 06:22 PM (GMT)
Funny, they have been reporting that he is dead since an hour or so after it happened.

So I'll say that he is dead, and the show trail is over with him dead and most of the people that had a role able to save face.

I wonder if hes actually burried yet though, or if they are still playing with his corpse taking photos.

Apparently his corpse is to be buried in Yemen after the US has left Iraq.

No it's going into Tikrit in Southern Iraq so he's buried with the rest of his family near his birthplace.

Good ol' CNN

I've seen the video of Saddam being hung and it honestly would not surprise me if it was completely fake.

Just as he is about to be dropped the camera goes all shaky then it goes black for a while as it seems they are recording the floor. Then about 20 seconds later you see him hanging in very poor light.

It all seems so staged, this is such an important event and it looks like some guy filmed it on his phone.

Drake - December 31, 2006 02:49 AM (GMT)
probably were not allowed at all to film. and link please

It's on eBaum's World.

Apparently the media version of the tape at the time of his death is not being made public, but a bystander with a camera phone caught his grisly death on tape.

He seems too valuable to the American's for them to just hand him over to the Iraqis to execute. I mean they have pumped hundreds of billions of dollars into finding him, and after they do they just hand him over?

Sounds like a scene for Blair Witch Project 3

Whilst I think executions are a bit too much, I'm glad to know we're not paying his taxes anymore. Seems a bit stupid with the system:
"Well, we've put him in jail for killing billions of people but you'll have to pay us to keep him in there!"
Maybe they should take away their colour tvs! Honestly, some of the prison cells I've seen on tv look more like university apartments (the good ones)

Yeah, I watched the video on Google Video; after going to Old Melbourne Gaol and seeing the gallows and stuff there, and the noise they make when they are released (admittedly, they were empty when I saw them) I could vouch that's a real hanging. It's one of the few things I remember from when I went to Melbourne; the gaol scared the hell out of me.

I watched the ebaumsworld video. He hangs, and it looks pretty legitimate.

Well the reasoning for them giving him to the Ieaqis to deal with was it let them deal with him their way while giving the new government a chance to make themselves be seen as the new power of the nation, one that can work without the help of the US or other nations.

Outside Iraq, there was calls for him to be happened over to an international court (seen as taking too long), the US deals with him themselves (not seen as a good thing after the fact American went against the UN over Iraq in the first place), or to give him a place on Saint Helena (making sure he couldn't get out was an issue there).

When I went to the NYE thing, the band there stopped and said "Now, the world lost someone very special just recently, so we'd like to play a tribute to him"

I stupidly thought "Why on earth would they be doing a tribute to Saddam? Is this an Iraqi band?"

Turns out they were talking about James Brown  I AM SUCH AN IDIOT
