Title: Franchise Showdown, Week 8:

For me Final Fantasy edges this one out. Always engrossing storyline featuring truly sinister final bosses and more plot twists than a week of soap operas, an extraordinary graphical style, truly inspiring music, enthralling gameplay, and legendary characters.

I'm always taken aback by the beautiful scenery and music in The Elder Scrolls, specifically with Morrowind and Oblivion, as well as the degree of freedom you are given. But this scope never converts into the immersive gameplay the game advertises. Rather, it becomes more of a dazzling illustration; polished visually, undeniably beautiful to look at and listen to, but with nothing beyond what you see and hear.

Lol, the FF games suck.
Sif take turns to hit eachother!

But what about the story Estapol? That's the whole reason why Final Fantasy wipes out the RPG competition! FF gets my vote, no competition for me

FF is the best
the elder scroll is average.

The complete freedom of The Elder Scrolls series is impossible to beat for me. While storyline is always important the amount of fun I have playing a game rarely reflects it's plot. Elder Scrolls > Final Fantasy.

Pfft, Final Fantasy? No way. The stories are always utterly nonsensical, the designers more than likely on LSD tabs the night before office-brainstorming. OOOO, FLAME ME.

TES is an amazing series, the worlds being perfectly realised. Morrowind is definitely the best of the series so far. Oblivion was excellent, don't get me wrong, but it just lacked that extra wow factor its predecessor had.

You are an idiot if you vote for Elder Scrolls.

Nags approves.

It's meant to be which is the better game not which is the better anime. :P

I voted for Elder Scrolls for the same reason I voted for Splinter Cell against Metal Gear.
Anyways I didn't see Final Fantasy XYZIIIEI get numerus game of the year awards this year. :P
*looks at Oblivion* B-)

Good point, but i still think that FF is miles above TES

Estapol, Final Fantasy XII hasn't even released everywhere yet so your comparison can stick it. (although it does prove your point even more ;))

Seriously though, I choose the Final Fantasy franchise for two reasons. One being that I've barely played any of the ES titles (unfortunately - I do plan on changing that though eventually) and two because all of the Final Fantasy games I have played have been brilliant in their own right.

That's one thing I like about Final Fantasy, the unique story/ies that are in each game. It doesn't follow through each game like most franchises do, everything is seperate and I like that idea a lot. Yes things are changing as Square-Enix whore even more, but overall it is still the case and it's a good thing. But looking at the games themselves, the stories are awesome even if they are over the top. They may be crazy as hell but they're compelling enough to keep you playing even if you hate the random battles or whatever else. The music is another major factor, well for me. Nobuo is a legend and well know that, but even the compositions that he hasn't been behind have been pretty good so yeah, that's another reason.

Oh I'm rambling. Again.

Joy.

FF > life.

Elder Scrolls by a long shot... excepting of course, Oblivion.

Final Fantasy is a great series but not particularly progressive and to be honest FFX was a horrible horrible game.

On top that the series is churning out too many dud spin-offs. At least Battlespire was a well designed game despite its many niggles.
