Title: Awesome Situations
Description: Aka. An awesome experiance with friends

Neo.Sanity - December 17, 2006 12:28 PM (GMT)
I had an awesome time a couple of nights ago, thus I made this thread so I can share mine and others can share theirs.

I got a call about midday that my friend's new home theatre system had come (He spent a day at the Sony store and $7000 buying it all. Him being pretty well paid employee at his work he can afford it all), We spent a few hours setting up his system, put it on the stand and everything and got it rigged.

A little story behind his Xbox 360. He bought one at launch, after about 4 or 5 weeks it started playing up. So he sent it to Mircosoft to get it fixed, he never heard from them for about 2 months. He called up and was told they needed to replace the whole console for one reason or another.
Meawhile the sneaky bugger held onto his hadr drive. In the meantime we'd spent a day with my Xbox 360 and his hard drive ripping all his music to his hard drive. He got it back and rigged it all up about a month ago.

So there we were trying out his new system, Xbox Live and everything. About half way through the pizza coke and the evening he flicked up the guide and put on some heavy metal.
Now playing Gears of War with Dark Tranquility (the music) beating on some rediculous volume it was bound to be a great night. We chewed through at least 20 matches, and by the end of it we were toally pumped.

Threw in some Vegas and went crazy to some techno and God-know what else we listened to. The night ended abruptly when the police knocked at about 2am telling us about a noise complaint. So we finished up and crashed the night.
That's probably the best ever videogaming experiance I've eve had, it left me for a definate hunger for more.

Anyone else got a similar story?

Fantastic choice of music for Gears of War play, if I do say so myself. I might have to try that as Dark Tranquillity would suit Gears perfectly.

As for awesome situations in gaming, there's plenty. I'll give it some thought and hopefully I can pick out a few for this thread. :)

Checking out my friends brand new 7.1 surround when BF1942 came out. I could hear the sniper bullets approaching behind me with that little "thwip" sound as they push the air out of the way. It was a nice touch the devs put in, even if nobody could really hear it at times.

im sorry but imho nothing beats 4 player super bomberman sessions on the snes but i should really talk about that in the retro forum :P

Many insane battles of SSBM come to mind. You know you've all played it too much when you and your opponents are jumping around each other, faking and dodging like crazy.

dave_cool31 - December 18, 2006 11:04 AM (GMT)
SSBM was (still is) awesome, many fun times had with that game in multiplayer

Some Halo multi player from the afternoon till early morning, followed by a few movies and attempt at sleep which involves trying to through someone out of the house... only to wake up at 6am and play more Halo :)

i gotta dmit after reading this thread playing online by yourself just doesnt compare with an actual multiplayer bash or lan. its apples and oranges

Great story,
i had an experience where we had a games night and the one of the speakers flew up in to a fire ball because beer feel on the electrical cord behind.
It was the best night ever playing halo 2 and battlefield 2 MC untill 4am!
We had 5 T.Vs set up with xbox games using the same network cable!

Myself and a friend had a two-day Halo and Jedi Academy session (with breaks for food and sleep though...yeah, we were pussies). It was great. Nothing beats the rush as two people charge through a line of Elites with assault-rifles blazing. Ahhhh, good times.

I had a recent awesome situation in Gears of War earlier in the week. Well actually all of the matches I've played in that have been pretty sweet lately, but one in particular sticks out.

4 on 4 on the Canals map. Whole team run to wherever they want to go and as usual I go for the frags. After picking them up I nearly get sniped, so I quickly run for it. Turn a corner and bam 3 people right there. I dunno how but I managed to spot the 3 as I was running and I chainsawed one instantly. Then after the animation for that happened, I rolled back, switched to the shotgun and blew the second person's head up. Rolled back again quickly, turned around, grabbed a grenade and stuck the third person. Only to hear a growl behind me, turn around and shotgun the fourth and final person to win the round. All in like 30 seconds or so.

THAT was an awesome moment. :D

I won a Halo 2 match by tackling the other player and sitting on him while I frantically pushed all the buttons on his controller and made him kill himself.

God that was beautiful.

Also, I kicked my friend's asses in Wii bowling the other day and I am the undisputed Queen of Wii Bowling. I have a little dance, you see, called the Hoedown, which involves gripping the Wiimote in my hands and doing a little dance, like so: :dance3:

Then I twirl around and swing and jump. It looks retarded. But it gets me a strike or a spare every time - it has NEVER failed me.

EDIT: Oh god, Nismo, I just noticed your new sig and I fucking love it.

 An evil tactic. I always managed to avoid getting killed by constantly doing bunny hops. Guaranteed to annoy pretty much everyone :P

Can't think of many awesome situations. I guess the only thing I can think of is when my best mate & I make mini-games within videogames which makes the night so much more entertaining. Like in NFS on psone we used to round up all the traffic and make sure none of them escaped. Or on Battle Arena Toshinden we made little side stories using all the characters, then on Battlefield 2 we'd have games of hide and seek. It was great because of the sheer randomness and dishes out extra gameplay value

Neo.Sanity - December 22, 2006 01:12 PM (GMT)
Battlefield 2, placing C4 behind the base of the flag, wait a few minutes and blast a couple of guys capping it. Take back the flag

Wash, rinse, repeat. :D

I did it for a while tonight and it was pretty awesome.

I've done some pretty awe inspiring moves in Counter-Strike back in the day but my all time favourite would have to of been when I shot down two people then heard another coming up the stairs, so rather than reload my empty weapon I ran straight for the stairs and leapt over the approaching enemy raining down gunfire from the weapon I'd picked up just before I jumped. By the time I hit the ground he was dead and it was without a doubt the best move I've ever seen -- and I was the one that did it!

I had a great time playing Gears of War with NeoSanity Last night (Or afternoon to him) and there was this 12 Year old kid playing with some leet name like T3H PUN!SH3R or something, so were playing and everytime this kid gets a kill her goes OWNED OWNED ANNIHALTED blah blah blah... then NeoSanity makes the brilliant comparison of this twelve year old and a Retarded brick wall. So this kid keeps being a twelve year old, and the kid gets killed and he lets out a AWWWW GAY. Somehow he got the interpreation that i was somehow gay so i fed him some randomness hoping to stop the kid in awe. This did not work though, so after he said "AWWW i got killed by the gay kid" and i come up with the best idea to stop this kid in his tracks. I get his attention, "Hey punisher what does a vagina feel like?" He shut up after that, and Neo had a awsome reference to the 40 year old virgin, Saying that Punisher would describe it as "Like a bag of sand"

Pretty much fun times talking with NeoSanity off the board, hope to catch up with some of the others soon too.

NismoR34 - January 13, 2007 03:28 PM (GMT)
^ I've played against The Punisher (or whatever his name was) before actually and yes he was exactly the same as you describe.

Yeah, fairly spammish post from Nismo but whatever.
