Title: Wii tips and tricks.

Squato - December 10, 2006 07:52 PM (GMT)
Alright, there has been a number of things that people have found with their Wii which are either little easter egg's or great time savers. here is a list of the known ones so far (and it should get updated when more is discovered).

For the Wii

- Press the home button on the main menu. Next click on the controller image. You can adjust the wii-mote volume and rumble functions.

- Hold a and b down and you can move the windows on the main menu around.

- To add someone to your friend's list, both of you will need the others Number ID and console name.

- When you get a message, the Wii will light up and the Wiimote will chirp.

- To make the blue light stay on all the time, you will need to do the following.

1) Add your email address to the adress book and send a message to that address.
2) When you get that message, send a reply email to it.
3) When you get that message, your Wii will light up to say there is a message like normal. That leave you to just leave the message unopened so as to have the light on all the time now.

- As you make more Mii's, they will later start to replace the Mii's that are in the system when you get it out of the box.

- If you set your Mii's to mingle (and have your Wii connected to the net), you will see the other Mii's that people have made in your parade.

- You can save VC games to a SD card if you go to the Channel section menu.

- While your Wii is powered down, you can press any button on your Wiimote. This will make it flash and tell you how much chrage is left on the batterys.

- When you purchase a virtual console title and Mario runs across the screen, if you happen to get fire flower Mario, you can shoot fireballs with the A button

- If you press a+b when looking at messages, you can move them around. This helps you if you want to delete them.

- In the Photo Channel, if you grab the cat with a+b, he will give you little tips.

- You can have a 194 piece puzzle by holding down the 1 button before selecting any piece amount.

- When your in the Mii Channel and not moving the Wiimote for a little while, all the Mii's will start to walk around. As soo as you move it, they will follow the pointer for a few seconds.

- Classic controller has analog shoulder buttons. With the GC “click” at the bottom.

- If you hold the SYNC button down on the Wii for 15 seconds, it will clear all synced Wii Remotes from the console

- When you enter the Wii Shop channel, you can return to the main menu by selecting the blue Wii Shop Channel at the top left of the screen.

- Wii Video 9 - Wii Video Converter
http://www.redkawa.com/videoconverters/wiivideo9/
Wii Video 9 is a free video conversion application developed by Red Kawa. It allows you to convert your computer video files (like avi, divx, mpeg, etc.) into the specific video formats that are playable on the Wii.

Wii Video 9 can also be combined with Videora, another software application, and together they can let you automatically download and convert video for your Wii using BitTorrent and RSS technology.

For Wii Sports

- In Wii bowling, if you let go of the ball on the back swing, you scare the Mii's.

- In Wii Sports Bowling, when you press up on the Directional Pad, it will zoom in on the lane. The zoom in sound is the exact same sound from Super Mario 64 anytime you moved the camera.

- On hole 3 of Wii Sports Golf, there is a small section of fairway at about a 45 degree angle to the left from the tee box. It is a small patch surrounded by Out Of Bound-ness. If you can land your ball on there, you can easily make it on the green in 2, to to Eagle the course.

- In Wii Bowling, if you aim right to any lane near you, you can throw your ball there, but you won't hit any pins unless you aim right.

- To knock down all 91 pins at the end of the training mode, just move to the far right then bowl like normal. If you did it right, then the ball will land on the rail and roll all the way to the end before it disappears. After that, you hear a click and a bomb goes off that makes them all fall over (as seen here).

For the games.

The Legend Of Zelda: Twilight Princess

- The way you way you spin your nunchuck is the way that the spin attack is shown in the game.

- If you watch the start screen for an extended period of time, it plays an extremely extended trailer that they didn't show to the general public.

- You can skip cutscenes in Zelda by hitting the - button (not that you would want to...).

So that is all of them for now. Some of those I grabbed from Hyper, others found by people I know.

So if you find more, either I or a mod will add them to the list.

Interesting collection there. A lot of it was Wii jargon which I could not understand, but I'm sure it was interesting... :P

On a related note, I dont like the idea of using a number to add friends, it seems so difficult and presuming markymark wasn't fooling around, they are about 16 digits long!

It's not that hard. When I added Borgster and stuff, I just had the Wii numbers thread open and entered the numbers from there.

Granted entering numbers isnt as good as just names, but you only do it once, and then you give each number a nickname yourself, so you know who's who easily. Didnt take too long to register everyone, and then I found Ali G's Mii in my Mii Parade, so its worth it

And yeah some nice tips there :D

Hah, some interesting things there. I'll have to try some of them, like the bowling thing to scare the Miis. ;)

I added my hotmail address on the Wii and I replied, yet never got the msg.

anyone got some tips and/or tricks on connecting to the freaking shopping channel? It keeps giving me errors or taking forever to connect - right now it's saying "Connecting. Please wait..." It's been connecting for literally the past 15 minutes and I can't even stop it or anything! The power button doesn't even do anything >_< !

EDIT: finally got it to work - had to unplug the console because it wasn't doing anything >_< anyway, I eventually got Donkey Kong Country, which is nice...
